- Obviously, the throw rug seems more natural to the cat than a litter box does. Get a new litter box, and place it on the throw rug. Also, make sure it has a different type of litter in it. This can be clumping/non clumping, scented/non scented, shallow/deep, and the such. My uneducated guess is that your scat cat, is just wanting a place all it's own... ;) More litter boxes and scooping more than ONCE a day is necessary for this finicky cat. Hope this helps,
- Q: There's a shag rug that has been in my basement for 15 years. Now, my basement is unfinished and is a bit damp in the summer but only on the walls. - First be thankful this damaged lamp cord did not start a fire! Then take some small shears and cut the pile that is damaged. If the damage is too big and cutting the pile would leave a bear spot, see if you have an extra piece of the carpet (can take it from a closet) and do a carpet patch. If properly done they are almost invisible.

I have lived in five houses with wall-to-wall carpeting and have never, ever seen that. If you can't find out what the material is on the phone, then take a piece of it to Home Depot or a specialty carpeting store or someplace like that and get some help. If you have major problems with this, I would call your local television news station and get them interested in a faulty product story. This might pressure the carpeting manufacturer to pay some attention to your issue. One final note though: whoever owned the carpet before you might have applied some kind of product to the carpet which is causing its detioration. Good luck.
