- Q: Liquid propane leaving the reflux pump of a distillation column flows through a 3.5 in ID pipe at a flowrate of 90 lbm/s. There is a flowrate control valve in this line, and it is set such that the pressure drop across the valve (delta)P=15 lbf/in^2. Upstream of the valve , the pressure P1=18 bar and the temperature T1=310 K. Assume there is negligible heat transfer with the surroundings and that the density of the liquid does not change significantly.a) What is the kinetic energy change across the valve?b) What is the enthalpy change across the valve?c) What is the temperature change across the valve?d) What is the entropy change across the valve?
- If there is NO change in the density of liquid propane as it passes through the valve, and if the size (area) of the pipe upstream and downstream of the valve is the same, then a) there will be no change in the velocity of propane, hence there will be no kinetic energy change. b) this is a process of throttling, with no change in kinetic energy, hence there is no change in the enthalpy. c) temperature change can be determined using the detailed property table of propane, but if it is an almost-incompressible liquid, then this too, will be negligible. d) dh = T ds + v dp. Since there is no change in h, integrate this along a constant h line from inlet to exit (upstream to downstream) and you will get ds = -(v/T) dp. Since p reduces from inlet to exit, the change in entropy will be positive. This is as expected. If we assume density (=1/v) and temperature (T) to remain constant, then the change in entropy will be s_downstream - s_upstream = (p_upstream - p_downstream) v /T.
- Q: I was just informed that my 4 year old daughter has been diagnosed with mild mitral valve regurgitation. I have been researching, but only find the information to apply to adults, not children. What general course is taken when dealing with children with this condition and what should I expect? Her pediatrician was treating her symtoms as asthma with breathing treatments, but, I was not comfortable and took her to my family physician, who sent her for the echo, which discovered this.I'm more or less just looking at our options...
- Find yourself, or your daughter, a good cardiologist and follow his advice. I do think that this can be handled with medications in kids as well as adults. Good luck.
- Q: my valve cap is leaking slowing how do i fix it what part do i need
- It might be just the core that is leaking but I would have a new stem put in to be on the safe side.
- Q: whaT ARE THE SYMPTON OF A BAD EGR Valve Position Sensor loss of power ?1998 toyota camry v6
- Typically when those sensors start to go bad, the EGR valve doesn't modulate properly between open and closed. When that happens you usually notice a sort of fluttering in the power delivery, often when cruising at a set speed but sometimes also when accelerating as a result of the wrong amount of exhaust gas being recycled back into the engine. You sometimes will notice a loss of power when accelerating as well. If the EGR valve is opening more than necessary it will be allowing more exhaust gas back into the engine than is beneficial....and that will reduce the amount of power the engine produces. If the EGR valve is staying closed more than necessary, you might not notice as many driveability issues but you'll probably notice your average fuel mileage decreasing a little and/or a check-engine light being triggered and/or a failure of an emissions test (even if the check engine light hasn't tripped) if you live somewhere that emissions checks are required.
- Q: What are the benefits of changing new cylinder heads and exhaust valves in the Main engine of the vessel? I am now studying a vessel which has a problem with their main engine. Frequent repair of cylinder heads (they usually weld it) and exhaust valves are the ones they do. I need to further give the benefits to be submitted to the vessel's management for them to buy new cylinder heads and exhaust valves as a replacement for the welded ones.
- To answer your first question only, the benefits of changing cylinder heads and valves would be to improve the overall performance of the engine, like increasing its horse power, speed and fuel consumption. To prove to the vessels owner that this needs to be done, a compression test should be done on each cylinder by a mechanic. This will show how each cylinder is functioning, and the results need to be cross referenced with the compression specifications for that specific engine.
- Q: My grandfather is going in for a valve replacement.. and I'm really worried about him.. I just want some information.. any good websites if you have them.. I looked on google.. But if you have any good ones that would be great..No horrible comments please..
- sorry okorder
- Q: wife died at 40 still awaiting results of exsaminers report. Can CPR be given to some one with two artificial heart valves mitral and arotic? She the person administering CPR be aware that they are in the heart...
- Yes, and it doesn't matter if there are artificial valves or not. The thing about CPR is that it's only done for someone who is actively trying to die. The alternative to doing CPR is to let someone pass away, which is not usually the best course of action (unless they have a terminal disease and have asked not to be resuscitated.) If you are asking whether the presence of heart valves excuses someone from NOT doing CPR... then no. If you are asking whether heart valves + CPR and a bad outcome is because CPR should not have been done, then no to that too. The right thing to do for someone who is pulseless is to start CPR, call 911 and get more definitive treatment on the way. CPR is not going to revive someone - it is only a bridge until a defibrillator and/or cardiac drugs are available. I'm sorry that you lost your wife at such a young age, and I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
- Q: Do most V6's have 24 valves? What are they for? (brief description would be fine)
- Valves fit into the top of the cylinder to allow the fuel/air mixture in (inlet) and exhaust gases out (exhaust) on older engines and a few more modern ones there is one of each to each cylinder. Later engines use two of each so that the cylinder can be fueled and exhausted more quickly. They are timed to open and close by means of a rotating shaft with eccentric lobes (camshaft) operated by the cambelt (or chain) from the crankshaft.
- Q: Defects in which valves would produce the following?1) SEVERE DEPENDENT EDEMA?2) PAROXYSMAL NOCTURNAL DYSPEA3) CONGESTED LIVER?4) DISTENDED JUGULAR VEINS?5) PRODUCTIVE COUGH WITH FROTHY SPUTUMfor 1. i believe it's tricupsid valve, 2. mitra valve please correct me if I'm wrong. Thaanks!
- Tricuspid regurgitation: Symptoms of right-sided heart failure, such as ascites, hepatomegaly, edema and jugular venous distension.
- Q: Half-Life 1 and 2 to me were masterpieces. It would be a shame if Valve ended the series there. Is Valve going to make Half-Life 3 in the near future ? If so, do you have any proof ?
- Ok first of all you need to play Half-Life episode 1 and 2. Now to your question: The guys at valve only make games for the money and currently, they have enough. If they feel that they are running low on money, they will think of making one. Now the reason why they make other games and not HL3, is that at the HL2 episode 3, the storyline got complicated and making th continuation is hard and so, they don't even think of making it. So they just think of making another game and getting lots of money. For example, Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Its the same game, only with better graphics, new models, some new maps and... but its still the same Counter-Strike we played before. And people fall for it! Most people these days don't really care about the storyline, gameplay and stuff, they only care if its new or has good graphics. So by making games like that, or the source ones, they get the money they want without even thinking about Half-Life 3.
