Q: I was thinking of some sort of battery that I could charge at home and take outside but must be able to store a lot of electricity like be able to run 600w for 18 hours. I think a generator will be too expensive.
You can buy battery packs with built-in chargers that you can take around. But you do not mention what voltage you wish to have out of the pack. A 12v pack would put out 50 amps to make 600w. The problem there is that it would disperse 50 amp-hours per hour. You would need a 900 amp-hour capacity unit of many batteries. That would take a pickup truck to move, and quite expensive to buy the 25 batteries. If you wish to make 110vAC at 600w, that would be only 5.8 amps AC current. There are many inverters that can do that, not too expensive. But you would need to hook it to an automobile with the engine running, since the amp-hours or even more would be the same from the 12vDC car battery. Running the car engine for 18 hours would surely ruin something under the hood (engine, voltage regulator, alternator, fuel system, battery?) The amount of energy you require over time is enormous. It would be equal to a tank of gasoline, or about 90 sticks of dynamite. My Nissan LEAF electric car's battery can store 27KW at a time, but takes 10-20 hours to charge, depending on voltage supplied. That would be more than enough for your requirement, but do you have $35,000?
Q: And this person said it also all depends on what PLANT the stuff came from. No wonder the asian kids are ahead of us.
if it is a diesel powered gen set it could run on bio fuel as long as it has been processed correctly a diesel gen can run on several different types of fuel
Q: avr is automatic voltage regulator for power generators
If you mean the build-in pcb of a fuel/diesel generator which build-up voltage initially and then keep it stable under any load, then read this: First you need to see your generator minimum requirements to determine specs of AVR. You will probably found a label on generator with those Information: Ex. volt (maximum excitation voltage) Ex. amp (maximum excitation amperage) Your AVR output must exceed those specs. If generator is brushless type in most cases it does. Also input voltage of AVR must be the same as output of generator (ex. 110V110V, 220V220V). If generator is triple phase then you can do the same (ex. 380V380V, 440V440V) but if generator have output in star formation then you can use node for a smaller voltage of AVR (ex. 380V220V, 440V253V). If generator work in parallel operation (usually marine main generators does) then things get complicated. In this case AVR is good to support current transformer to make generator more elastic under load fluctuations and match other generators in the same circuit.
Q: Does any one know the best way to go about have an entire house run off of a generator? Mostly likely over periods of no great than two weeks. But it needs to supply a Washer/Dryer, Central A/C, Water Heater, and all of the basics of a smaller house. I did the math and the math says the max I will need is apprx 13,500W. I've done a lot of research on portable, residential, and even green energy, but I am having trouble finding the best way to go about powering a house continually. I need something relatively quiet, or something I can run a ways from the house. And lastly one more curve ball, this is for west TX, so there's not too much rain, especially these days. But it is a desert atmosphere, so I need a way to keep it out of the elements. Any suggestions? Well ventilated shed maybe? Thanks!

Q: I don't see why I couldn't use my car's engine as a power generator. I would only need maybe 1000 watts. The car is a 1990 Ford F350 diesel.
you cant its too big. its a waste time u are better off selling the engine in the paper to buy a power generator
Q: Fuel tank is for generator and its a day tank the size of the tank filling line is 2
So you can empty the tank. If the tube ends near the top, the generator will only be able to pull fuel until the level drops below the bottom of the inlet pipe.
Q: Did some searching, and found little other than single, model specific, manuals (either paper or on CD). The paper manuals are $50-60 each. Single model PDF manuals on CD are about $20.Does anyone know if a comprehensive set of shop service manuals is even available for Yamaha Portable Generators? (gas and diesel) I don't mind paying, but I don't want just ONE manual, I want 'em all. That way I don't have to go through this again when a different model Yamaha comes into my shop. TIA for any help!:-) ?

Q: I was wondering if you guys know where to find an electrical generator that does not come with an engine. For example, I have found diesal generators that use diesal fuel to create current. I need something that can create current, but doesn't come with any mechanical input.I basically need an alternator that can produce power on the 30 kilowatt level.
You need 3 things to create electrical current. 1. An electrical conductor - usually copper wire 2. A magnetic field - could be from permanent magnets or electromagnets or a combination of both 3 Relative motion between the conductor and the magnetic field. If you are not using mechanical input (like an engine or turbine) to create physical motion, you will need to find a way to put the magnetic field in motion.
Q: has there been any long term tests on the effects on the engine from running it on hydrogen produced from a hydrogen generator and your ordinary gasoline/Diesel?also has anyone attempted to hook a hydrogen/H2O/Brown's gas generator up to a actual diesel generator like wisperwatt or any kind of diesel generator?any help would be great thanks!
Long term or short term is that is doesn't work. It's a con and I can prove it. I've been posting here a long time and have posted why it won't and can't work and the HHO people have NEVER not once shown where I'm wrong, I post all my numbers shown all my math, I've even show where I get my numbers. I've even assumed that HHO works and used THEIR numbers and it still doesn't work out. Sorry but there's no free lunch. Post an edit if you want to see why it won't work using their numbers and assuming it works.
Q: I have been researching EV cars and conversions and am wondering about using a generator instead of batteries. I am not an enviro-nut concerned about making an emission free vehicle, just one that is cheap to drive. It seems to me that using a generator to power the motor, although it would use gas, would be way more efficient than a normal gas engine that is in a car, and would be lighter than batteries. Also, if it is a diesel generator I could run bio-diesel to cut back on emissions. Am I correct in this assumption?
i have considered the same thing. it will take a good size generator to power an ev tho. say you have a 15hp motor in your conversion. you will need a 15hp generator minimum to power it and it must have a large enough surge rating to handle the start up currents. one hp equals 746 watts. all in all the idea is sound but a little more involved than it seems.
