- Q: I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. Note: I worked hard to get where I am at, however, my current knowledge is the bases for new job. WHAT DO I DO????????????
- A very young company often provides excellent opportunities for advancement since you can grow with the company. So, you have to decide whether you'd rather take a bigger risk for what could be a much bigger payoff. Because, a large number of new businesses fold within the first 5 years. The theory that the hours will be dramatically different is probably wrong. You work as many hours as you do at your present job because that's how you achieve your objectives. If this is essentially the same industry, you should assume that success will require the same effort level at the new business. The type of position also influences the answer to this question. For example, if you were in a sales position, selling an unknown brand would offer a great deal of risk, and potentially major barriers to success. If you're in a web design position, a young company may offer much more opportunity for success since you don't have to overcome the mistakes which have already been made, and have more freedom to innovate. So, think about the type of position you work, and how the position will be different in a start-up.
- Q: I need a means of driving a 3 horsepower induction motor re-purposed as an induction generator which would coincide with specific cost-effective parameters. I ran the numbers in an excel spreadsheet and realized that the amount of gasoline or diesel required to run an engine appropriate for a 3 horsepower generator consumes more fuel per hour than is economical when the electricity is sold back on the grid. Over a month period, here's what I calculated:Run time in Hrs: 300.00 (10hrs a day, 30 days)Gallons per hour: .30 (1/3rd gallon per hour avg. consumption for 5hp engine)AVG output KW: 2.00 (3 horsepower generator)Fuel in gallons: 90.00 Price of fuel $/gal: 3.50Kilowatt-Hrs: 600.00Energy Cost: .08Net Profit: -270.00I've considered using a pressure cooker, wood pellet stove, and compressor pump as steam engine for an economical way to produce long-term torque, but am not sure how to modify the pump to operate as a steam engine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
- If you are serious about selling power to your utility; ask if they will accept inverter output. If so, an inverter can lock phase with fairly simple circuitry. Using HD diode isolation simplfies voltage matching. You would be wiser to generate low voltage DC from solar panels or a wind turbine. (Noise and pollution free.) Talk to a utility rep first to learn their requirements.
- Q: I own a 2300 square foot home with an upstairs and downstairs heatpump. If I wanted to buy a generator to use in the event my power went down what size should I shoot for. I would like to be able at a minimum to provide upstairs heat (1000 square feet), maintain the fridge and provide minimal light at night. Basic survival type stuff. Also how much fuel would normally be consumed running for 24 hours? Thanks I know this is vague so generalities are fine.
- The whole key to this answer is fuel. If you live where you can get lp or natural gas to the house then go with the generac whole house with automatic switch. I mean a constant supply like city gas or propane. NOT FROM A TRUCK. The trucks will not run if your in the middle of a hurricane or other types of storms If you have to use propane from a tank, rent the largest one available. A 300 pound tank will only last 4 days under full load. Gasoline is dangerous and to hard to keep fresh.
- Q: I am building a food van with a generator housed in the rear and would like to feed the fuel from the main tank fitted to the vehiclewho would I contact for this information?
- its depend upon the sector u going to invest
- Q: Can someone please tell me what is the piston ring cap is for the 186FA Diesel Engine 10hp, fitted into the powermate PM6100DS / 6KW Generator.
- Just about all the rings you purchase new today come pre-gapped to the correct tolerance, just like spark plugs. Way in the past, of course back then it was necessary to check the gap. With such a small engine 1/16 is plenty.
- Q: Hi, I'm fifteen and going to Tanzania in February on a Mission trip. I don't know what to wear, because I don't wanna wear Nike Shorts and offend people. I'm on a mission trip so I definitley wanna be representing Christ. I also need a pack list so I wont be forgetting anything. Also, what do I take money-wise? Cash, debit nfused. First time over seas. HELP! God Bless! Merry Christmas!:) -Emma
- Emma Not knowing your race, I will give you some advice if you are African-American: don't where trousers. Black women in Tanzania who do are viewed as prostitutes in many areas. Secondly, as a black person, you will automatically be expected to speak Swahili or the local tribal language. That said, bring along a small, quality flashlight and extra batteries. Also, extra batteries for other equipment such as a camera. Don't expect to be able to charge these items as many mission sites are remote and likely to run on a diesel generator that is not equipped with an inverter. Bring comfortable footwear with a solid sole and up to your ankles. There are often minute larvae which will become embedded in the soles of your feet and can be uncomfortable. They are removed with a sterilized needle. At age 15, bring a supply of female necessities because they will not be readily available. Leave your cosmetics at home. Here are some things that come in handy - a few quart and gallon size baggies, string, a bungi cord or two, rubber bands, small Tupperware containers, matches or a lighter, water canteen, candles, sun hat, small super glue, band-aids,paper,envelopes, pens/pencils. As far as money, you should consult your group adviser. An ATM is hard to find in the jungle or on the open plain, as is a bank. You will be able to find these things in Dar es Salaam, where you should stock up on Tanzanian shillings, depending on the frequency you expect to travel to a city. When I lived in the jungle, I got to a city 2 or 3 times a year, so it was essential to know what I needed before heading back to the mission. Chances are, you will not be in a remote area. I know these things came in handy for me, but I spent years in Sundi Lutete.
- Q: hello,i was wondering to buy a diesel generator for my commercial truck so am i allowed to pick it on my truck?
- if your talking about a power source for accessories, yes. but keep in mind the additional weight factor!
- Q: husband is looking for something that he can use for power that is more economical. (no natural gas lines)
- It is very difficult to have your own generator and make electricity as cheaply as the power company. You have to have generators up in the megawatt size to compete with the power company. Even if you go with solar power, you will find the cost to be very high. It takes up to 10 years or more to get you investment back on such a system. The only practical thing to do is try to reduce your consumption by installing the most efficient light bulbs you can, being sure your insulation is complete and try to eliminate air infiltration at doors, windows, entrances to attic spaces and turning off stuff when it is not in use.
- Q: how exactly to fossil fuel power plants work?
- Depends on the type of power plant. There are some, like coal and furnace-type natural gas plants, that burn fossil fuels in a furnace or combustor. The burning of the fuel heat water flowing through a boiler, evaporator, or steam generator to produce steam. This steam is directed to a steam turbine which turns a generator and sends power to the grid. Fossil fuels can also be used in a gas turbine (basically a jet engine mounted stationary) to directly turn a generator and send power to the grid. This is known as simple cycle. The waste exhaust from the gas turbine can be sent through a heat recovery steam generator to produce steam. This steam is directed to a steam turbine which turns a generator and sends power to the grid. This would be a combined-cycle operation. Fossil fuels can be used to run a diesel generator.
- Q: China Diesel older generator. Hasn't been used for years, however, supposedly started biannually. Someone messed with the wiring. rewired much of the controls and all meters appear to be working. Have 240V no load, when applying a load to one leg, the 120V drops to 0V. Suspect the exciter not working. located the the 4 Stator cables and 2 smaller wires coming from generator. Suspect the 2 smaller are the excitation wires. According to the poorly edited Chinese to English manual. I have no idea which is F+ or F- and how important will it be to get this correct when applying the 12V as suggested in the trouble shooting guide??
- If you are seeing a voltage with no load, there is at least some residual magnetism in the field. Flashing the field probably wouldn't make any difference. I'd look for an open field winding or bad regulator if your machine uses brushes. If your machine is brushless, check for an open exciter winding, bad regulator, shorted or open diodes in the rotating field or open windings in the rotating field. There's a good chance that you can find decent troubleshooting advice for your generator on the smokstak forum. Fieldlines is another good resource. Don
