- Q: I need information about basic water pumps. I'll have to build a mechanical one for school. Do you have any ideas, information, designs, links? Thanks!
- A very simple and old design for a water pump is called the ball-chain or bucket-chain pump. A google search should show you what they are. Building one should be fairly straightforward and simple.
- Q: I think the water pump is going out in my truck can I still drive it short distance if I put water in it first?
- You might be able to drive short distances. but if you rev the engine it might go out. to be safe i would to it. if it still works and hasent went out on you yet than you might be able to drive it. Good Luck
- Q: My toilet has a water pump to deposit water to the toilet and a floatie that will stop the flow. But now it does not flow water through the hose, instead it looks like it's clogged and water drips from the floatie handle. Do i need to replace it? Or could it be something easy to fix?
- The okorder /... Every hardware store has them. You can get the part I think it is 400A that doesn't have the flapper included. I'm not crazy about fluidmaster flappers because they always leak on me after a very short while.
- Q: A Pump is direct driven by a 25 HP 900 rpm electric motor at rated load. In order to to double the quanitity of water delivered, it would be necessary to substitute a motor rated at____HP at____rpm. ans. 200 and 1800. not sure how they came up with this answer...whats the equation???
- N = (95 H.C)/D Where N = rev/min D = diameter of impeller over blade tips in metres H = total head in metres C = constant. C depends on the shape of the pump and normally lies between 1.05 and 1.2 Later edit. I'm not sure if you are aware of it but each impeller has it's own characteristic performance curve.
- Q: What are the export pumps packed in cartons?
- Our exports are packed in specially made export special wooden cases. The water pump bolts are fixed at the bottom of the wooden box through the anchor bolt hole, then wrapped in plastic bags, and then sealed.
- Q: how to change a water pump on a 99 ford tauras?
- Remove the passenger side tire and get at it from the bottom. You need a pulley remover, you can rent it at Autozone. Remove the belt, etc, etc, etc. Get a Hanes manual at your local parts store for an idea of what you need to do before you start doing anything. Most people go to a mechanic because it is a LOT of very hard work.
- Q: Where can I get a solar powered water pump for a sprinker? I want the pump to pull water out of a river next to my yard and water my garden and lawn.
- you will prefer to comprehend the voltage that the pump needs and get a image voltaic panel that factors that voltage. additionally the wattage or the amperage would be a great ingredient. if the pump needs one hundred twenty volts then you definately can ignore this concept given which you will additionally choose an invertor and transformer given which you would be changing from A/C to D/C modern and additionally remodeling the voltage. a low voltage pump that in simple terms needs milliamps i heavily doubt exists. in different words this could be a damaging thought and except you prefer to spend upwards of ten grand on it then in simple terms run your self an extension twine.
- Q: I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4 engine and the water pump needs replaced how much would this cost me to take to a garage to have fixed?
- good okorder and see what is up with the price. The estimator sectrion may be able to give some idea of what a water pump sells for and the labor costs. One major problem with all of the front engine front wheel drive cars is the cost of replacing a water pump can be 2 to 4 times as much in labor as the front engine rear wheel drive vehicles of the 70a and 80s for example my suburban was a total of 200 dollars not so with the cavalier The water pump itself was not too bad but the labor getting to it sucks. 104 to 199 dollars for a waterpump and 627 to 800 dollars for the labor could bring you a bill for 732 to 999 dollars lets hope its the cheaper of the estimates
- Q: Motor has over 200k miles. Water pump took a dump. Gear is very wobbly! primary timing chain tensioner off the right bank hasn't any tension on chain at all! Crank turns but doesn't turn the chain. So motor is way out of time for sure now.Found small piece of aluminum and 2 -1/2pieces of appears to be a spring pin. Am I correct to assume these pieces are from the water pump? A new chain and water pump I can see doing on this old motor! But? Any suggestions on what to do next before I waste my money? What kind of compression reading can I get with all the plugs out and manually turning the crank? Short answers of scrap it not welcomed! I'll determine that after I'm satisfied it's truly bad! Thanks!
- I also own a 2001 Intrepid and recently had a water pump go bad which also broke my timing chain. The pieces of aluminum you found are probably valves or valve springs from the head. Mine broke every vavle and spring on one head when my engine jumped time and a few more on the other head that is probably what your seeing. Also you don't want to check for compression by turning the crank manually. It is an expensive job to fix but the cars are great but I wouldn't spend too much on them because they only go for about $3000-3700 in great condition nowadays. Good Luck
- Q: Hello, I have a 1996 Cavalier and it's got a small coolant leak by the water pump so I figured I'd replace it. I called around a little bit and one quote was $250. I'm sord of handy and have a few hours on Saturday is it that hard? I heard it's just a few bolts? Thanks!!
- It's easy as hell. Should take about an hour, maybe 2. Depends on how 'handy' you are. Before you replace the water pump, check your hoses. Make sure it's not them that's leaking.
