Q: I recently moved from one state to another and brought my XBox 360 and games with me, but forgot the power supply, power cable and AV cables. I can't get a family member to ship them because they are all locked in storage and even if I mailed the keys, they are probably buried under everything else anyway.Most electronics stores sell the AV cables so that isn't a problem. But nobody seems to carry the power supply. Most places I've found online carry generic or no-name brand equipment which I want to stay away from for something this valuable and will only purchase genuine Microsoft equipment. Where can I look or buy it? Will I have to order right from Microsoft themselves?: Id say either off OKorder, or if you have a broken one, buy a new 360 from target or something and swap em out

Thank you!: You could probably buy an adapter plug for your existing cable. Getting a whole new cable might very well mess with the machine itself, and be more expensive than a simple adapter. Just go to an electronics’ store, with the cable, (the bigger the better) and ask for a suitable adapter for it.

Otherwise, if the computer seems to start up for a couple seconds, but then switches right off, the motherboard might be shorting against the case. Did you have trouble getting the motherboard to line up inside the case? Are the motherboard screws centered properly on the screw holes? Is there clearance along all four edges of the motherboard? The other place you can have a clearance problem is the support plate for the CPU heatsink, on the back side of the motherboard. (Or, sometimes, screws behind the chipset heatsink.) The test to see if the motherboard is shorting on the case, is to pull everything out, and hook up all parts separately, outside the case. Set the motherboard on some bubble wrap or something, and hook up all the other parts. If the parts start up and run, outside of the case, then you can start looking for where it might be shorting. (That particular Thermaltake power supply is made by Compucase, and it's a piece of junk. You should think about replacing that no matter what.)

Good 750W power supplies are at least ?70 and have four 6-pin PCI cables. Heck, a good 430W costs more than that and it's guaranteed to perform better.
