Q:I just bought a new computer, a DELL Inspiron 530. It has none of the older 4-pin power cables from the power supply; only the newer SATA power devices. I have an older hard drive, that connects via IDE cables (the gray ribbon). Ive already bought the card that converts the IDE to SATA, and it is connected to the mother board. Here is the problem: the IDE Hard Drive is powered with the 4-pin power supply that Ive seen on EVERY power supply before this one. The IDE to SATA converter came with an extension for that 4-pin power supply. But the power supply in the tower DOESNT HAVE ANY 4-PIN POWER ADAPTERS. It has one free SATA power. Im looking to take the SATA power from my power supply, convert it to the old-style IDE 4-pin power supply (female) and plug it into the 4-pin extension (male) that powers my hard drive and SATA-IDE converter. Most converters go the other way... Please post links with examples of parts, since I cannot find anything that lets me do what I am looking to
The SATA motherboard uses probably ATX or MicroATX. These are motherboard independant, but for SATA drives you need a SATA power adapter (it converts the 4 wire MOLEX into a flat SATA power cable). Most SATA drives come with this or even the motherboard does. if your power supply is ATX and your Motherboard is ATX then it will work (granted the wattage is enough for all your devices).
Q:for any SATA 2 HDD, the power connector is longer. compared to the data transfer cable. wht is it so?,-------------- ,------the first set of lines represent the power connector second; the data connection cable.
The sata power connector provides 3.3, 5v and 12v as well as two ground connections (in between the 3.3 and 5 and 5 and 12) I believe. Anyway, for the power connectors, a single pin has a maximum rating of 1.5A or so, and so they provide three pins if a device needs needs more current.
Q:i was wondering if i can hook up 2 power cables each one going to a dif. amp one cable being 1200 watt and the other one being 600 watts.. i kno it would be easier to buy a splitter but i already have the cables i just wanna kno it i will ruin the battery or the alternator or something like that
typically taking power from the battery drains it so i think im may affect you alternator (in the long run only if you'll be sub'nhard) why do double the work (and add a fuse) spilt the orignal power cable at one end (amp side) less drag on your battery wanting power
Q:How do power-station-cable thieves manage to get away without being electrocuted?
Police are hunting for a badly scorched would-be copper thief after finding a hacksaw embedded in an 11,000 volt power cable. The thief also left a lit blow torch at the scene. He is presumed to be badly charred, and not the brightest bulb in the socket. .
Q:a. the potential difference between the forward and rear feet when the bear crawlsb. the potential difference between the bear and the cablec. the coulomb force between the bear who obtains charges when passing by the cable and the cabled. none of them
a. The bear has completed a circuit between the cable and the ground. Electrical current takes the path of least resistance and will flow through him rather than through the air which has a low conductance. Since the bear has a resistance the electrical energy will do work (the energy it takes to move electrons from one potential to another) to over come his resistance and some of the energy will be transferred to heat. This is why people who are electrocuted will burn from the inside out.
Q:I installed a new Power supply after my old one stopped working. I bought a Thermaltake TR2 500W. I connected everything that needed to be connected but it would not turn on. Then i disconnected the 4pin cable that goes to the motherboard, and it turned on. But my monitor didn't detect anything so it just went into quot;sleep modequot;. So every time i connect the 4 pin PCI-E connection to the motherboard it just doesn't turn on. Please help
That okorder /... If you know the PSU is good then you will know the way you wired the motherboard's connections is wrong.
Q:my amplifier s power cable is not long enough to reach battery . so is there any problem if i take another piece of power cable and then attach them ?
It's safe enough, as long as you make a good splice, and insulate it well. For automotive use, I like insulated, crimp-on splices. If this is a really high-power setup, and the power cable run is that long, you may be better off replacing it with heavier-gauge wire.
Q:I want to turn on my PC but my power cable was missing so i got a new one. A small sheet on the PC's power cable input hole says quot;230 V Rated voltagebut the new power cable fork has some characteristics written on it like EL - 202 / 10-16 / 250 quot;. So I'm afraid that 250 stands for Voltage so the power cable voltage is different from pc's rated voltage. I live in europe and we have 220V here from the power supply. Can I use this power cable or will it mess up my pc ? It's quite a quick issue that I need help with. Many thanks to everyone who can reply quickly. Cheers ;)
The cable seems to be rated higher than your input voltage so you should be okay.
Q:What are the reasons for the explosion of the cable? In the cable online
Fiber engineering to see what you are doing, first of all is the cable selection model need to use the number of cable cable. There is a light converter, ODF frame. Open signal will use passive splitter, pigtail, fiber jumpers, optical modules. Brand you have a lot, and you want to domestic or foreign.
Q:what size of main power cable to use for two amps with combined power of 600 watts rms.the length of the run will be about 12 feet from battery to amplifiers.
i would use at least 8-10 awg.
