- If it has removed the color, you cannot fix that. Do you happen to have a piece of that rug left over? If so, you can replace the section in your rug that has been damaged by actually carefully cutting out a piece and replacing it with another. If you have some of the rug, just make sure you keep the direction of the pile the same in the piece you insert. I have done this to remove a stain ifrom a new rug and the piece was still there and unnoticeable years later when I sold the house.

- it won't cause mould to occur so long as you gently go over the stain with warm water and a bit of washing powder,not with any foam or mousse as they will bleach your carpets(they really do bleach).after that,go over it again with just warm water and soak out moisture with a towel or tissue paper.when completely dry,lightly sprinkle talcum powder over it to keep away any smells.don't hoover it off,just let it get walked into the carpet and hoover it the day after.
- Q: A piece of paper caught on fire, fell on the carpet, I put the fire out and it burned the carpet and the paper melted into the carpet. Using soap and alcohol, I got rid of most of the blackness, but the parts where it's actually burned is still black. How can I get rid of this mark? Would using bleach work?
- I had some hot coals fall out of a fireplace and onto the carpet. Vacuumed and got the stuff like you did. Then I got a really sharp pair of scissors and cut out the melted part that was discolored. Was very careful and it looked pretty good when I got done. Bleach will not work on melted plastic. You may also need to pick out the nape a bit to make the surface appear like the original carpet. The other thing I have heard of being done is to take a piece of carpet from a spot where it will not be seen and cut the exact same piece from the damaged spot. Use a little glue and swap the two pieces. The key to these is taking your time and being careful.

- Q: Is there a way to bleach my carpet?Not to get a stain out or anything.But my carpet is a bache color, and I would like to make it white.Would putting bleach on it make it brighter?
- Sorry, but the chances are it will either do nothing, or make a splotchy mess. The only way to really change the color of a carpet is to buy a new one. If you are willing to do this, why no try bleaching the existing one first. Mixing a spray bottle of 10 parts water to one part bleach would be a good start. But realistically you need a new carpet, and if you do that I wouldn't suggest white, you will never keep it clean. Hope this helps

- if the hall area is not large, then you can use dry cleaning powder to wash, if the area is large, you should find a clean company.
- Q: I have a brown sofa, light oak floor, blue floral accented curtains and sea foam walls, white ceiling, with creamy/ white trim. I have no idea what i should do i have a burgundy and cream shag rug that's kinda a woven pattern that i think looks good but i don't have a very good eye for matching colors.
- Since you have several colors in the room already, I think a rug with a brown and blue pattern to match the sofa and curtains would look better than the burgundy. If you have too many colors in a room, it looks unplanned, and just thrown together with whatever you happened to have. What I would do, if this were my room, would be get rid of the blue curtains, since they don't match anything else. They're easier to replace than the sofa, or to paint the walls. Then look for curtains and a rug in brown and seafoam, or brown and white.
- Q: I noticed that my carpet has holes in it. there are tiny areas where the carpet strands are gone/eaten/disappeared/burned/etc and i don't know what it is. - there's a few things that live in carpets or breed there. but moths are the ones that are famous for holes. the larvae eat the rug then become moths. If you're lucky a little flea spray and the worms will come up so you can see them. start using boric acid or diatomaceous earth (buy the kind for this use not the pool filter material). sprinkle on carpet and brush deep with broom. Vacuum more regularly and put down more boric acid every few months at least.
