- Q: I am considering having Karndean flooring fitted in my living room, does anyone have this? It's the wooden floor full plank design that I am interested in. What exactly is it, does it look good, is it hard wearing, are there any negatives points about it?
- Knight Planks are laminated vinyl planks that look just like planks of wood. I had it laid to my gamesroom kitchen dinning and entry 2 months ago. It looks great just like real wood flooring and it is easy as to clean. The only I found out after I had it laid was it actually needs to be cut and polished after being laid (Carpet Hotline didnt actually include it in the price grrrr) you can do this yourself but the cost of the products is not cheap or have a professional who uses Karndean products to do it for you (this is what I did and it was a 3rd of the price of doing it myself) The only other thing you need to really consider is if you have pets especially dogs that live inside as it is very slippery for them and they have a lot of trouble walking on it, mine had so much trouble I ended up buying foam anti slip matting to run through the house so she can get around.

- You'll need to rent a floor polisher. I actually clean the marble floor where I work. What we do is use a marble polish that looks somewhat like wet sand. We mix the polish with some water, put it on the floor, and use a low/medium speed floor buffer with a medium pad to polish the floor. We then squeegee most of the polish up and use a wet vacuum to get the rest. Next, we mop the floor (alot!) to get the left over polish. Lastly, (after the floor is dry) we use a high speed buffer with a light or medium pad to shine it up. Talk to the person you rent the polisher from, and be sure to read and follow the directions on the polish. It can be a lot of work (particularily prep work, such as moving furniture, taping/covering carpets, etc.) but the reward is totally worth it. Good luck!
- Q: I am looking to live in a second floor apartment. How big is too big of a fish tank to put on the second floor? I have a 75 gallon now. Is that too big. My fish grow fast, I upgrade my tank every year so how big before I have to live on the first floor?
- I wish I had a 75 or larger, but since I am on the second floor I haven't gone larger than a 50. You want to put a tank that big on solid ground, like an outside corner, where the floor is shored up better. And I think it is also stronger if hte wood in the floor that holds the floor up lines up vertical underneath the tank.. can someone explain this better? You may want to ask an expert since your tank will be super heavy, like 800 to 1000 lbs. If you get larger, I would definitely say go for first floor. I am getting ready to transfer to a first floor so I can get bigger tanks. PS, remmeber, the important thing is how much weight is on each square inch of floor, and a water bed is spread out amongst more floor space. Dont get a tall asquarium that big. And make sure the tank sits on a base that is not four legs that puts all the weight in those four spots, but that is prefereably flat or spread the weight out better.

- Tile flooring is probably the best way to go. You can purchse types that are very large tiles to give you the largest area possible for dancing.
- Q: i just moved into a home that has parquet floor through the house but is covered by carpet in almost all rooms i want to know how much it cost to fix up the floor after removing the carpet, i already heard its a whole lot of work
- Most of your parquet flooring is only a 3/8 ths and 1/2 thick and is a laminated product and can t be sanded down a lot. It would depend also if the flooring is a wax or a urethane finish.. You may have to call in a flooring person to get a look at it and determine exectly what you need to do.. It may be as simple as re waxing it.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
- Q: The previous owner of my house painted the cement slab garage floor. Now the paint is peeling off and looks bad. I would like to seal the floor with an epoxy-based sealant. Can I seal over top of the paint, or do I need to have the paint sandblasted off first?
- They make some really good floor paints. If I were you I would clean any loose paint off the floor clean it real well with a solvent to remove any oils and then wash with a good detergent. Rinse really well to remove any residue. Then when you repaint it with a floor finish it will act as a sealer and look really good. To remove all the paint with sand blasting would probably hurt the finish on the concrete and not look very good. This is the process I would use. I have painted many garage floors. I worked in a complex with one hundred and sixteen units all with painted floors. Good luck
- Q: I was alway under the assumption that most places will traditionally and intentionally not place a 13th floor (skip up to 14th) due to superstition. Well, I was just watching an episode of Mindfreak and Chris angel was doing a stunt with skeptics and elevator shafts at the Luxor. Well, at the end of the session they show Floor 13 on the wall. Was that placed there intentionally for the show, was it all staged? can someone explain that to me?
- Some of buildings will intentionally name the 13th floor the 14th because of the superstition. However, there is still many building that will call the 13th floor what it is.
- Q: How do I get the oil on the floor?
- If it is to strengthen the composite floor to save trouble casually get some things can be dirty if you are solid wood flooring you get some resin oil paint
