Bleach mixtures, unless you take a garden hose to 'em, usually leave a sticky residue. Plus, Bleach is a corrosive, which is why it should only be used minimally. I would recommend a plain ol floor cleaner like Armstrong. Cleans and makes it shine. Without deteriorating your floor.

Q: My dog urinated on our laminate wood floors and how the floor seems to have lifted, almost like air bubbles along the seams of the flooring. It looks horrible and I feel like these floors should be resistant to water and other liquids. Can anyone help?: Laminate flooring is the most overrated stuff on the market...no one tells you about how it warps with water, it is not nearly as scratch resistant as you are led to believe, and no matter who says what, it does NOT look real. Your floor is lost, sorry, but the liquid will just keep traveling and more and more of the floor will lift.

Q: I live on the second floor and I want replace the carpet with wood or tile. A friend told me if the floor is not leveled, it cost a lot to level it. My question is: Could second floor be unleveled? I thought only first floors could be unleveled.: Second story floors can be and often are out of level. Even more important than levelness, though, is flatness. It is o.k. if your floor slopes a little. If it has dips and humps in it though, these will have to be adressed before new flooring is installed. If you install tile, a cement leveling compound can be used. If wood, the unevenness will need to be fixed structurally. 3/16 difference in a 6' span is the most unevenness allowable. If you have more detailed questions feel free to email.

Q: I am looking at putting down flooring thoughout my home.I am curious to know which is the best the laminated flooring or the snap together flooring.I have carpet down now in most of the rooms with the exception of the bathrooms kithchen and utilitie rooms.: I favor Mannington, Armstrong, or Quick Step laminates, they are the easiest to install, I would use any for all the rooms, except bath, kitchen and utility because of possible exposure to excessive water. In those rooms, if you need something easy to put in cork is a possibility, Adura Tiles(see Mannington website), or their is a vinyl product by Armstrong called cushion step that you can actually just free float on the floor (see Armstrong site for more info. If you really wanted to go all out, some engineered wood floors can also be floated(snap type install). Mannington has some really nice looks in this also. Hope this helps you!!

Q: I put down a laminate floor 1 month ago, and when I walk across most areas the joints move up and down. I had a new sub floor installed prior to the laminate so I don't believe it's a leveling issue. Q: Have small bathroom that needs tile flooring replaced. Don't want large tiles because they show cracks when damaged and they are very obvious. Any genuinely serious recommendations as far as replacing the floor tiles with new floor tiles. Linoleum is not an option.: First off, in order to replace the tile floor that's there now, you're going to have to take the old tiles up off the floor. That can be a very tough job if they were laid properly. It will entail the use of a good hammer and a very good prybar, plus quite a bit of elbow grease. If the old floor comes up without seriously damaging the old subfloor, then you can clean up and start anew. That seldom ever happens. If you damage the subfloor while removing the old tiles, you'll have to replace the subfloor before you can lay new tiles. If you have to go that route, make sure you secure the floor to the floor joists, to make sure it's not going to flex when walked on. That's what makes tiles and grout crack. You'll need to chose the tiles you like, and the person who helps you should be able to suggest the proper grout for the tiles. Follow their advice and the job should come along nicely.
