- It is not likely that the island is installed on top of the laminate floor. It depends on how the laminate flooring is installed as to your ability to take some of it up and put it back down again. The snap together type can be taken up and reinstalled. If you have snap together laminate flooring you may need to take a good bit of it up in order to fill in the space left by the island. Also depending on which way the floor was laid down may cause you to have to essentially pull the full floor up and re install it. Because of the snap together feature, if it was laid down left to right then it will have to be pulled up right to left.
- Q: I am considering buying a home Illinois. Unfortunately my price range is small; however there is a home my girlfriend and I love. If there is a place where you can run a string from the front to the back of the house put a nail in the floor wher it is high then run the string to the low end if the height is not to great then you could take 1X3 pine strapping and run it trough 16in apart and shim under to get the height you need at varies points till you get to the high point. Keep in mind that you may have to add to the top of a doorway sadle and cut the door with the process. If the difference is more then 1 to 2 inches then I would have the low end jacked to get closer. It will take a combination if floors are to low on one end. Doing both on really unlevel floors will give you better results.

- if the floor got wet and buckled you need to replace the floor. when ever a hard wood floor buckles their is a reason, which must be corrected. sanding will not fix the problem just waste your money unless when they tried to fix the floor they replaced the wood flooring and it is thicker than the old floor as the old floor had been sanded before. if this is the case then yes sand away
