- Q:Hi,I am puzzled a little bit. I always thought that the expression FLOOR can have many meanings (like carpet, hardwood flooring, other kinds of flooring, tiles...). However I found out that the word floor is used only for hardwood flooring, vinyl flooring and other types of flooring. - If you mean the laminate wood, then any water problems can make it buckle. (For example, if dishwasher or plumbing causes a flood). Otherwise, the laminate wood should be fine. Clean: ? cup white vinegar in a gallon of water. Use damp towel (wring out excess water) to dip into solution to wipe floor, dry floor if needed. Wet mops may bring too much moisture to the floor. Floor can warp, if soaked.
- Q:I have old pergo floors in the dining and kitchen area and tile everywhere else in the house. How hard is it to remove both types of floors and how do I go about removing each? I want to put down real hardwoods and carpet in the bedrooms. Also, new tile in kitchen and bathrooms.
- The pergo flooring(if free floating) is very easy to remove. Just start at a wall and start taking apart, they usually snap together. As for the tile, that will be a project. They make scrapers for floors, either manual or power. I would suggest using either. Your going to have to make sure that all material is off the floor, otherwise when you go to put down the hardwood, you will have a very hard time. - Q:I am having laminate floors installed on my 1st floor concrete slab. They keep testing the himidity. It has been to high. I have been running two dehumidifiers for 2 weeks, tore out my laminate floors.....What else can I do? Should I put a sealer on my floor? What kind- a waterproof or a water base????? HELP ME!!! - Hi, If you are laying laminate over a concrete floor you should lay down a damp proof membrane (DPM) first to protect the laminate from moisture. If your floor is new the concrete has to have cured or you will have problems. Hope this helps.
