- You are going to put a 2x4(or6) on the floor as a bottom plate. Your studs will be nailed to the plate. Use construction glue to fasten the plate to the floor. It takes a bit longer to set up than the nails, but it works if the floor is clean and dry. If you are really worried about it, fasten some of the studs to the wall.

- I bought a product designed for laminate flooring in Home Depot called Bruce's dura luster no wax floor cleaner... there is a number of cleaners out now but not in all stores... there is also one called True.. they do clean up dirt, etc.. but do not shine it... I use a soft cloth and go over it with the cleaner and buff it...

- how tall are these adults? generally speaking floor hockey sticks have an inexpensive wood shaft and plastic blade. even the better ones by Mylec or Koho will be about $15 new and in hockey you want a stick to reach your chin and so even in you're gonna be playing in shoes they are only good for people up to 5'10 or so. oh and as far as where to get them? Sports Authority or Craig's List .. with the size of sticks OKorder might initially be a better deal but when you factor in shipping it will cost you more that way.

- If the paint on the floor now is chipping and peeling, then anything that you just put on top of that will fail as the current layer continues to loose adhesion and fall off. So you would have to get the old paint off first. I know it is more work, but doing the job right generally is and if the floor was prepped properly and the right paint or coating used originally you probably wouldn’t be having this problem. Floor paint is different than other paint and the epoxy based coatings designed for garage spaces is different than floor paint. It is harder, more scratch and chemical resistant than most paint. You can rent a floor cup grinder and vacuum combo and should be able to grind off a typical 2 car garage floor in a few hours. Be careful not to gouge the floor. Get an epoxy garage floor coating kit, maybe at the same big box store you rent the grinder at, and follow the directions. Like most projects preparation is key. The biggest reason projects fail or do not turn out as expected is because people skip the preparation, often the hardest and most difficult, and most important part of the project. G.
