- Q: I bought a bargain DAB radio, when I got it home it ran fine, then seemed to keep cutting out, would run finerepeat.Something suggested the power might be to blame, looked at the fuse, the plug is labelled 3amp, but someone had put in a 13 amp fuse. Will the radio be damaged through running with the wrong fuse?As I say, I paid a very bargain price for this, so if I'm gonna get a year or so's use, I'm happy enough. Not expecting too much anyway, and quite lazy about taking it back. But if it's going to be a useless lump by this time tomorrowCheers for any advice
- it depends whether or not the radio received more 3 amps. if it did it is most likely ruined as normally the fuse will have stopped this happening. my only advice is to put the correct fuse in the radio and try it then if it still does not work it was ruined.
- Q: I have a 96 Camry and it died on me Friday sputtered out when I started it the rmp's shot up then went down then I put it in drive and then died I put new battery on, new starter, alternator is good and new ignition switch and when I turn the key all that comes on is the lights and radio and when I turn the key it doesnt sound like its trying to start just nothing no click click click
- Ensure that your starter is getting power if it is not check that you installed it correctly. most common ones come with three wires a ground, power and ignition. If it is not getting power when you turn the ignition then check the starter fuse. Another way is to check the starter directly, you can use a screwdriver or wire to connect the power and ignition wires to spin the starter be careful not to make contact with the ground. If it spins then you have another problem, however if it does not spin then you problem is the starter itself, an electrical connection, fuse, or electrical component related to the starter. Note that even something as simple as a gear selector for an automatic or the clutch pedal for a manual can cause this problem. for automatics they will only start in P or N. for manual the clutch must be fully pressed. My guess is you are having starter related issues because any other mechanical problem would at least let your starter spin even it the engine does not start. Do you have any more useful information?
- Q: I have checked every single fuse under the hood and under the steering wheel. Still no radio, clock, or dome lights.
- Double check the fuses tor the dome light and cigar lighter, its easy to miss a bad fuse If you have a test light or DVOM (multi meter) use it to check both sides of the fuse for power, obviously an open in the fuse is going to cause one side of it to have power and not the other. You will need these tool to verify the fuse is getting power, check the condition of the fuse, and trace the power to the individual components on that circuit. For backyard mechanics, Harbor Freight has these tool for the $5-10 range that work great for occasional use. Good luck man! If you need any further help with open / short diagnosis just let me know.
- Q: I have a 1996 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder, just yesterday for some reason the clock and the radio both wont' turn on anymore. The battery is working fine, I can turn on the car, turn on the light and all other stuff, just those two components (and the cigarette lighter adapter) that stopped turning on. Can anyone think of any reason why it's doing that? Is it the fuse that might be burned out? Thanks
- sounds like a fuse
- Q: I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant ES. The fuel level and RPM gauge will not work at all. I tried changing them out with the same result. The fuse for the gauges is ok. All other lights and the temp gauge works. Thanks
- Double check the fuse box. You may have checked the fuse that list the gauges, but there could be a second fuse running those 2 gauges. It might be listed under the fuse but behind some other components that that fuse also runs. If not, I would pull and check all fuses in case they didn't list it right. Also there maybe a second fuse/relay box under the hood. Check that too.
- Q: Do you usually buy the cheap OKorder batteries? or through a distributor? What do you think about the rumour that the cheap batteries have some missing safety components similar to a fuse etc (to my knowledge, batteries dont' have fuses) that prevent overheating. And the cheap batteries are prone to catching fire after they have overheated.
- no
- Q: i have determined there is no spark on my sons dirt bike and i have already eliminated the kill button but need to know how to check the coil, stater and CDI box to determine which one has failed.i dont want to go purchase all 3 if i can check these with a simple volt meter or test light.I know the basics of how the system works and know for sure the issue is not with the spark plug or a broken wire since i have traced down all wiring to maks sure it wasent that simple of a fix.
- Assuming the chain and sprockets are in stable condition, approximately halfway between the front and rear sprocket the backside portion of the chain ought to circulate vertically between 25-40mm while status immediately without-one sitting on the bike, no rely if it is greater beneficial than that it may be adjusted till the slack is actual. If there is important lateral stream or the adjusters are on the minimize or any tooth are broken on the sprockets the two the sprockets and the chain must be replaced. The marks on the eccentric adjusters are publications in elementary terms and should no longer be depended on as completely precise. to make optimistic the two the wheels are in an analogous direction use 2 parallel planks the two area of the bike.
- Q: I have this hot tub that froze and busted a lot of the lines going to the jets. I replaced all these and turned the power back on with one of the gates still in the closed position. Not usre if I damaged the pump or what but I can't get it to do anything but blow fuses. The readout says it's overheating. I took the motor cover off and spinned the porpelers and they turned good. Also the heat senor has melted out of the inline water heater and was wondering if these are replaceable. THis unit has two pumps and it is a fourwinds model 700 maverickThanks for any help
- I think Four Winds use balboa spa equipment. The sensors are either sold as a combo with the Temp sensor and hi limit or separately. Makes sure the power is off when you change them. The pump would not get damaged from a closed gate valve. To trace the GFCI tripping or blowing fuses. start by unplugging each of the pumps/components until you find the one that is causing the trouble. I do bet f you replace the high limit sensor your fuse blowing will stop. Whew! there's a lot of to tell you. Feel free to call us toll free and I can work it through with you on the phone Sunday afternoon. 1-888-atkippy. Your using the SC-30 fuses right? OH will go away as soon as you replace the sensor. Off the top of my head I would say the senor will cost 32-40 dollars. The blown fuses are coming from too much amp draw. This has got me very curious. Do inspect all your wires thoroughly to make sure there are no exposed wires and also do look at your fuse holder for burnt marks. I am betting you might have a value 2000 system and the fuse holder is charred. A faulty wiring condition exsists so please use extreme caution.
- Q: I own a 1999 Chevy Malibu with a v6 engine. I had a problem before where the car had trouble maintaing stability and dropped way below .5 on the RPM. I fixed the problem but that presented another problem. The Air conditioning and windows won't start at most times. I checked the heat gage and found that whenever it reached past halfway on the heat meter, the problem presented itself again. this led me to believe that it is an electrical problem. the thing is, if the cooling fans aren't working at the same time the A/C and/or the windows, then what is the source of the problem? my question is what is a(n) component(s) that is linked to the windows, A/C, and the cooling fans besides the battery? Please help! THX!
- fuse box and relays and power source not battery but wires to the battery, switch's and or sensors, but they are odd things not work at the same time
- Q: A friend of mine accidentally bridged two wires, one with juice, one grounded, that ran to the glove compartment on my '92 deville. I can't tell what they went to, as my glove compartment is gone, just hanging wires. The wires in question were purple and black, and the three options for what they may have been are the compartment lights, the gas door opener, or the trunk latch opener. When he bridged the two wires, I (sitting in the drivers seat) heard a loud pop that came from in front of me, underneath the steering wheel somewhere, and when I turned on the car, my start-up ding noises were notably sharper, and simultaneously weaker, like something had been blown. The radio display lights were inoperable, and while I did get static upon turning on the radio, my antenna would no longer extend. Do these things share a common circuit, and would short-circuiting something from the glove compartment cause me to blow a fuse, or is it possible that all of these components are permanently well blown?
- fuses are meant stop anything thats powered to be blown, check all your fuses and i'm betting a number 15 is blown.
