- Q: I heard that if someone spilled paint on their rugs their insurance will pay for new rugs minus deductable. DId you ever hear of this?
- An accidental spillage of paint or any other substance is normally covered under most homeowner policies when the spill damages the dwelling. This is a fortuitous event and not specifically excluded under most policies. If by 'rug' you mean a true rug and not wall to wall carpeting then most policies would not cover such an occurance as most policies are named peril for personal property including rugs. I've handled claims in many states and can't recall a policy that specifically states spillage of paint as a covered peril. As for the cleaning, as a former Insurance adjustor unless the cleaning is performed immediately and by a professional using a truck mounted extractor the paint would not be totally removed. Now it is true that your deductible would apply in this instance but there would also be a percentage of depreciation applied to your loss and in most cases the depreciation is not refundable even with the 'Replacement cost endorsement'.
- Q: What about soy sauce spilled on the carpet?
- Remove it with lemon juice
- Q: I ordered an area rug online but the dimensions are a little off...I'm wondering if I can just cut it to make it fit? If so, how would I go about doing this so that it will cut evenly and all the way through (what kinds of tools, etc could I use)? Also, any suggestions on how I can keep the ends from fraying after its cut? Thanks so much!!
- First call your area flooring store s and ask if they do or have access to some one that binds area rugs, most do. Once a place is found you have a choice of cutting the rug your self or they ll do it. If you want to do it, all you need it a straight edge and a new blade in a utility knife. Turn the rug over and cut from the back, placing the straight edge where you want it and cut along it. Make sure your cutting over something that won t either dull the knife or you cut something that is under the rug. The new binding may or may not match, if the place has access to binding, they ll have a color chart. Plus they ll be able to tell you if its bound or surged , which costs more. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar..GL
- Q: I am looking for the best carpet cleaner for cheap apartment carpeting, that I can use with my steam cleaner, I have asked this question, but I'm getting answers for just applying it to the stain and wiping it away, when accually I want to mix it in with water and use it with the carpet cleaner. The stains consist of dirt, pet stains, and other build up, please if you know of anything that works well, answer.
- Simple solution actually has a carpet cleaning shampoo that works pretty well, I think most of the carpet shampoos are about the same. I have found that using the stuff for stains first (like resolve) and then cleaning the carpet with the machine works better and gets the carpet cleaner. Also from time to time to clean my carpets with my machine I will add a little bleach with the carpet shampoo. It does help.
- Q: I saw a rug made out of t-shirts and thought it would be fun to try. I've heard it's pretty easy but I don't know if anyone has a good website or special tricks or helpful hints. Thanks anyone that can help! Also how many t-shirt would I need for what size rug? Thanks.
- You can also use the whole t-shirt and make them several layers thick, sewing them together much like a quilt and making a rug that way. But I like the texture of a woven or knitted or crocheted rug, especially when it is made of rags. How many you need depends on many things, such as the size of the rug, and how thin you cut the strips. You will need MUCH more than you think... I know! Collect as many as you can from friends and neighbours and search the second-hand shops for them as well.
- Q: My rug is a short, runner rug in front of our outside doorway. The material is shaggy and I'm not sure if I can put in the washer...?
- Shag Runner Rug
- Q: I have carpet in my great room. The color is desert sand. I have two small children who have spilled drinks and other things and stained the carpet in several places. Is there a home remedy to cleaning this carpet without having to hire Stanley Steamer or rent a rug doctor? I have a Bissel steam cleaner, but it just doesn't do the job.
- I too, have kids (and a dog...) and I know how tough it is to keep up when it comes to the carpet. There are powder carpet cleaners that work great. I know you can get them at Oreck or Sears, and I'm sure other places as well. These are great products because you don't have to wait for the carpet to dry after using. Also, try Basic H-It's a Shaklee product and works wonders on all kinds of stains. My sister got me started with Shaklee and not only are their products environmentally safe but they really do work great! As you stated that you have small children, cleaning chemicals may not be something you want to put on your carpet.
- Q: I need a purple or black rug for my room. not a huge one but just for the side of my bed. I have been searching all over the place for one. price range uo to 30$ . Thank you and the best site with the cheapist price WILL be rewarded 10 pnts.
- wal-mart has are rugs on sale right now for 24.88 so go to your local wal-mart and get one... they have all colors!
- Q: Hi ,where can i buy cheap carpet , the one like in Walmart ( 60-70 dollar . Is there any website selling like those carpets .Pls advice
- If you want a cheap carpet, I wouln't bother with an online source. By the time you paid shipping, your price would be increased considerably. Try a carpet store that sells room-sized remnants. You may be able to find a piece large enough to lay wall-to-wall, or you could check into having it bound. Do you have Big Lots in your area? I'd check there, and also the classified ads in your paper. Sometimes people change out their carpet and sell large pieces. Do you have a Habitat for Humanity thrift store in your area? Check that out.
- Q: is there any good solution to the lots of dust on the carpet?
- not use the carpet will solve the problem.
