Q: I recently had an incident with my toddler and a light candle. The wax went all over the carpet.. bright red wax, and white carpet. I have tried using a carpet cleaner and hand scrubbing it with a brush. Any ideas how to get it out? Thanks
Pick off as much wax as possible. Use a knife if it helps. Chill the wax with ice to remove more of the excess. Move on to the next step once you can't get any more wax off without damaging the carpet. Lay a paper bag or piece of newspaper over the carpet. Use an iron on the lowest setting to heat the wax. If you don't have an iron you can use a hair dryer. When it melts, the wax will seep into the paper and away from the carpet. Change the paper as needed until all of the wax is absorbed. Apply rubbing alcohol to any areas that are stained with dye from the wax. Use a clean paper towel to wipe off the dye and wax until the towel comes off clean. Rinse the area with clean water. You can use a clean, wet rag or a spray bottle. Dry the carpet immediately to decrease the risk of staining. Use a fan to help speed up the process.
Q: How to deal with the color of rose petals on the carpet?
You can only clean it by several times. There is no possibility to remove it one time by diluted oxalic acid. You must be careful that each time to clean it with a large amount of water, and the stain will be lighter after a time's cleaning, with a absorbent cloth to absorb water , repeat several times. One-time removal is impossible, you should ensure that the dilution will not make the carpet colors fall off
Q: Reorganization
Of course ... I've done it many times.
Q: My carpet was just cleaned and is already dirty...it shows everything! I don't want to have to get down on my hands and knees to spot clean (the entire carpet constantly needs cleaning!) and I cant afford to pay a carpet cleaner every week. Is there like a carpet shampooing/cleaning machine you can buy for around 100 dollars or ANYTHING I can do? Thanks!
Aside from the before mentioned don't wear shoes in the house... I sprinkle my carpets with baking soda. It not only neutralizes odor, but it does pick-up some dirt as well. I also wet the brush roller of my vacuum when I vacuum everyday...I use regular old shaving cream not gel to spot clean any serious stains and blot with a towel to dry... You can also buy Resolve foam for high traffic areas that you spray, work into carpet with a brush and vacuum... That's about all the tips I can think of....Oh yeah in the high traffic areas by doors if you can put a rug down.....
Q: I was hoovering today and I took a closer look at the carpet when I realised my carpet is full of little white cm long bugs. I searched on google and they are saying it is carpet bettle larve. But looki g at the pictures of these beetle larve they look nothing like them. To give you a picture they are pure white cilinder shapes that have a sort of tuft on each end. They are a cm long and I'd expect a mm in diameter. Please help
Carpet beetles and clothes moths attack fibre of animal origin, avoiding the synthetic fabrics. Even synthetics may be attacked if they are soiled by food or animal excrement. The blending of animal fibres and synthetic fibres is now commonplace and make such textiles susceptible to carpet beetle and moth damage. Both carpet beetles and moths prefer secluded areas such as behind curtains and furniture where they are seldom disturbed. In each instance, it is the larva that will cause damage to carpet and other fabrics. Prevention Some carpets are treated during manufacture and should give protection against infestation until the chemicals are removed, either by cleaning or have lost their effect due to normal chemical breakdown. Prevention and correction of carpet pest infestations require special skills and extensive knowledge of the problem and careful workmanship. Protection of carpets and fabrics with high animal fibre content is an ongoing challenge which is now not always possible with the range of safer, less persistent formulations in use in the marketplace today.
Q: I tried using Prosolve Triple Action on my carpet after staining it with tea...IT DIDN'T WORK!!Any ideas!?
I am a professional carpet cleaner- This is what will work but you must be careful not to damage your carpet so try this in an area that is hidden first.... Mix ammonia and peroxide together and apply to the spot. Cover the spot with a white cloth and apply an iron over the white cloth. The trick is to heat the fiber causing the stain to change it's appearance. I recommend never using store purchased stain removers unless a professional has recommended it specifically.
Q: ok ive been searching up and down to find this beautiful rug for my living room... and to no avail.. I'm seeking my fellow yahoo friends..here is the link to the page where i originally found the rug of my desire.
I've okorder / . You might find something you like even better, too. The thumbnails aren't great, but they are clickable to show a larger view with more detail and better color. have fun :-)
Q: Have you or anyone you know had any allergy problems after getting new carpet?
Yes, my daughter. Depending on the materials and such the carpet and padding can be treated with all kinds of chemicals to water or stain proof it or fire retardants and such. The material that the carpet is made out of can cause problems. Synthetic fibers in the carpet and the foam in the carpet padding can be the source of the problem. For my daughter it was dust mites and the foam padding. If stored in a moist warehouse the carpet could also have mold spores but just enough for the allergy stricken. If you haven't had allergy problems before then do several deep cleanings of your carpet and use an anti-allergy wash. Your local allergist can hook you up with a list of products and providers.
Q: cannot stop cat from urinating on rug. i keep washing and nothing helps . the smell is driving me crazy
Is it a female or a male cat? There are lots of variables in why a cat will do this. Sometimes it's because the litterbox is objectionable in some way - either the location, the cleanliness of it, the litter, etc. Quite often when a cat goes somewhere besides the litterbox, it's because it is either unhappy about something, or is ill. Urinary tract infections occur often and cats will begin to go somewhere that will draw your attention to it. Perhaps he/she is sick? My male cat started doing the same thing to the throw rug I kept in front of the door. Eventually, we discovered he had a bladder problem which made it difficult for him to go at all. Once the problem had cleared up (he had to have surgery), he started using the box again. As for the smell, it is hard to get rid of. You can get a rug treatment and apply it, or take up the rug/get rid of it. If the cat is going on the rug because something is wrong, it will probably happen somewhere else until the problem is solved.
Q: Does a rug doctor perform well on your carpet?
yes, it's one of the better ones around. can usually rent unit at local drug store/grocery store
