Q: The carpet in my apartment was old to begin with and then I got my dog a few months ago and we have poty training issues. Now my carpet and whole place smells. I bought a carpet cleaner and have tried all sorts of produts but nothing seems to work. I don't really want to have them done professionaly done because of the dog. Help?: Use okorder

Q: I am having someone put in carpet tiles in a house and we have the carpet pad to go underneith. Does it go, Carpet pad, glue, and then carpet tiles? What should I tell them?: I've never heard of any one putting carpet pad down before applying carpet tiles. I have seen them install regular carpet they always glue the pad down place the carpet on top of that. If you don't get a better answer to your question I would call Home Depot ask them. I did find the instructions below for installing carpet tiles but no mention of carpet pad. DIRECT STICK CARPET TILES The carpet tiles are adhered to the sub floor using Roberts 656 Carpet Tile Double Bond Underlay Adhesive. The sub floor should first be primed with Roberts 370 Floor Wall Primer prior to the application of the carpet tile adhesive. If the carpet tile is laid into a wet film of adhesive it forms an almost permanent bond between the carpet tile and sub floor. The carpet tiles may also be laid into the adhesive when it has dried to a clear tacky film allowing them to be more easily removed if repairs or replacement is required.

First , yes it doesn t allow the wood to breath and on certain finishes it will permanently stain the finish. And if you go w/o a rubber backed carpet, the other posters are right about a matt. BUT It must be the matting made for hard wood to allow it to breath. They make a few different types and sizes ( so know your rug size) These will do there job, collect dust and lose there griping power after a few months. You can use one at the laundry mat. But on gentle, and cold water.

Help?: Get a gallon jug of Acetone from Home Depot in the paint department. Pull all the old carpet up, pull up the tarboard sound deadening material, then pour out the Acetone and scrub the floor using steel wool to clean up any glue or tar that might be on the floor. Once you've got the floor pans clean, paint them with flat black paint to protect them from rusting. Finally, you can find replacement carpet at a parts store, just glue it down with contact cement.
