Q: Im trying to replace the egr valve on a 97 lincoln continental. I need to find out what size wrench I need, to get the nut off. Do you know?
I am assuming you want to replace the EGR valve because you are getting an insufficient EGR flow trouble code. Before you replace a perfectly good valve with an inferior aftermarket part that will likely fix nothing, a little more diagnosis is in order. If you have access to a scan tool and a vacuum gauge, perform a KOER (key on engine running) test on the engine with the vacuum gauge connected to the hose to the EGR valve. When self-test reaches the EGR test, look for the vacuum guage to move during the self test. If it moves, the vacuum source and EGR solenoid are good. If not, trace the vacuum harness for leaks. Without the scanner and vacuum gauge, find a length of hose and suck on the hose, or connect to other vacuum source to test the valve. You are looking for an RPM drop at idle when you open the valve in this way. I suspect your problem is a passageway clogged with carbon. Remove the valve and throttle body to access the clogged areas and manually decarbonize. This is the most common reason for an insufficient EGR flow on a Lincoln, along with a faulty DPFE sensor or related hoses. My money is on the clogged passages or the bad DPFE sensor.
Q: ok im buying an aftermarket blow off valve for my car. the car itself is taken apart completely and i have no idea wht vacuum lines go where. i know tht the top nipple of the bov has to be connected to the throttle body but it has 5 lines. does it matter what line is connected to it?
Don't do it. First of all, if you knew enough about turbo charging or supercharging, blow off valves, bypass values, hooters, etc., then you would have known we need to know the size of engine, model of turbo, piping diameter, etc. The actual control lines are not that complex. By using your tongue you can tell what each line is ported to, and then you just need to know if you blow off valve is operated by vacuum or lack of vacuum. They make both types. And your throttle body will have ports on both sides of the plate. And yes, it does very much matter. Turbo charging is not for the novice to fool around with.
Q: One of the zone control valves in my heating system does not appear to be working. The thermostat is calling for heat, but no water is flowing. If the other thermostats call for heat, the valves seem to open as the pipes above the valve get hot from the water flowing through. The one that appears busted gets luke warm at best. All 4 valves in the system are fed from the same pipe, and the failed valve is the third in the series of 4 along the pipe (and #4 flows fine) so it doesn't appear to be something in the feeder pipe.Is there anything I can do to try and fix the existing valve, can I replace the valve myself? Would replacing the valve top of the valve (the green/gold portion) possible fix the issue (maybe a problem with the operation of the piston? Is there anything I ahve to do before removing the valve top aside from removing power to the valve?
if you have a circulating pump .shut it down [as well with the electric switch to the boiler] follow both pipes coming and going from the boiler shut any valves thus isolating the manifold slowly remove the zone valve .there will be a little water leaking out .replace valve amd hook up electric to valve .before u do all that take two jumpers and jump out the valve to another .see if u have a bad cir cut
Q: do I need a new water heater or can this ne be fixed?
It can be fised, you just need a new seal. Measure the width of your pipe and go get a little package of them. They probably cost $2.99. Turn your water off at the street, then drain your water heater to keep it from flooding and possible problems. unscrew the joint replace the washer and put it back together. There is a book you can get at book stores that's called Hoe To Fix Damn Near Everything. It is a must have and has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Good Luck, Jackie b
Q: I want to put a blow off valve in my car to make it sound cool lol but i dont have a turbo yet ... do i even need one?
A blow off valve is completely pointless without a turbocharger. Without a turbocharger, there is vacuum, not pressure in the air intake. There is no pressure to blow off therefore the valve will never operate. You would never get the sound that you are looking for. So the device would be completely pointless. It would not even look cool. When someone would see it, they would think. What idiot would put a turbocharger blow off valve on an engine without a turbocharger. So it would look stupid, not cool.
Q: I have a shut off valve under the sink that leaks when you try to turn it OFF. Why is that?I need to fix faucet leak as well. do i need to shut water off to fix faucet? Need to fix valve first. Cant figure out why valve leaks when turning off.
Mr. ? is powerful. replace the close-off valve. the place I stay there's an excellent style of limescale interior the water so shutoff valves purely get gunked up over the years and in lots of situations leak everytime you mess with them. each time I replace or fix a rest room or faucet I purely plan on changing the close-off valve on the comparable time -- a great way much less difficulty than getting the recent merchandise put in and then having to circulate back and take issues aside to swap the leaking valve. I additionally replace the feeder hose connecting the bathroom or faucet too, constantly with the braided stainless style. i could fairly be attentive to I even have put in new factors than have the previous one fail at inconvenient situations and reason injury to the residing house.
Q: My mum (73, non-smoker, not overweight) has been diagnosed with 2nd degree aortic valve stenosis 5 years ago. Now deteriorating. Her cardiologist sees her every 6 months and strongly recommends surgery. She is too scared as dad died during a coronary bypass op. Any tips how to gently make her feel better about the op? She heard on the radio that some valve replacements can be done via catheter, not necessitating open heart surgery and heart-lung-bypass. Is that true for aortic valves and is it likely to become mainstream soon? She lives in Germany, so I guess good centres would be Munich, Wuerzburg and Heidelberg. Any views very appreciated!
Without surgery, a person with aortic stenosis who has angina or signs of heart failure may do poorly. Possible Complications * Arrhythmias * Endocarditis * Left-sided heart failure * Left ventricular hypertrophy (enlargement) caused by the extra work of pushing blood through the narrowed valve Aortic stenosis can be cured with surgery. After surgery there is a risk for irregular heart rhythms, which can cause sudden death, and blood clots, which can cause a stroke. There is also a risk that the new valve will stop working and need to be replaced. According to a prospective, single-center, nonrandomized study of 25 patients, percutaneous implantation of an aortic valve prosthesis in high risk patients with aortic stenosis results in marked hemodynamic and clinical improvement when successfully completed. Medium- and long-term results are unknown. When selecting the optimal therapy for individual patients, the percutaneous approach must be carefully weighed against the excellent results achieved with conventional surgery. Please note that I am not a medical professional.
Q: Is there a relationship?
From personal experience yes it can. My mothers hemoglobin dropped down to 8.0. The Dr said it was because of her stenosis in her aortic valve causing her to bleed in her abdomen. She had her heart surgery and it came back up, just like the Dr said it would.
Q: i got a filler neck for my dodge dakota and was wondering how to put it on. can anyone send me a link or help me. and also what does my EGR valve look like and i cant seem to find a new one not even at the dealer. i was told to clean it how do i do this. can someone send me a link or pic what it look like. thanks
The VECI decal map under your hodd will show you EXACTLY where your EGR valve is. You may need a magnifying glass. The valve can be removed and cleaned with Gum-out or foaming cleaner (amsoil). When you are done, re-install the valve. While you are getting ambitious, clean your throttle body and plate, and the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. A dirty IAC is the most prominant reason for the EGR valve to clog up. Running Gum-out through your intake system will clean out your O2 sensors, as well. Good luck!!
Q: What exactly is a flow valve for an ice maker on a refrigerator? Any idea what it would cost to replace it? Is it easy to replace?
google repairing flow valve on ice maker it is there.
