Q: Can I lay the carpet under the refrigerator?
Under normal circumstances, it is not possible, because the refrigerator is frozen, sometimes below there is water, carpet pressure in the following, it is easy to mildew
Q: My cat keeps scratching the carpet next to our backdoor. Its not the carpet anywhere else,or the furniture.Just that carpet.I have a scratcher thing for her to use,but she doesnt use it.How can I get her to start using the scratcher, and stop scratching the carpet?
I have two kittens and had this problem at first. I would try this...every time she starts to scratch at the carpet, pick her up and re-direct her to the scratching post. Literally take her to it and if you have to, put her front paws on the post. Another thing, what kind of scratching post is it? If it's the kind made out carpet material, maybe try the kind that are made out the rough brown straw material. My kitties like that kind better. Oh, and one more thing, make sure you keep her little claws nice and trimmed. She may start to scratch because they are getting too long and they are uncomfortable. I really hope this helps.
Q: How to deal with the oil stain on the carpet after being absorbing by flour?
Since it has been absorbed by flour, then you'd better dry the carpet in the sun, or use the hair dryer to blow it, then along the direction of the wool carpet, brush the flour attached on the carpet, vacuum surface grinding, doing this for several tiimes. . . . .
Q: I haven't vacuumed my carpet in over 2 months and its really dirty. I know its disgusting but I hate this flat so much and I rarely come here, just to sleep. My room mate has a vacuum but its a standing up one and I hate those which is why I hate doing it plus my room is small and has a lot of stuff in it (huge walldrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, bedside table, 2 person sofa, storage boxes, 2 chairs). Anyway we have mice and I put down sticky pad things and I found what I think is silverfish on it so I REALLY want to clean it properly now. Should I buy a carpet cleaner? I heard using vinegar but I'm not sure how. How would you go about cleaning it? should I just vacuum it continuously for like 10 minutes lol? And yes I know its gross but I'm really lazy.... don't judge me =/
Trap or poison the mice, two people died last week from hantivirus somewhere in california, I believe. go to a supermarket and rent a carpet cleaning machine, use very little soap as soap residue is hard to remove, when left in the carpet it becomes a sticky dirt attracting magnet.
Q: How to remove laundry detergent from rug?
rent a rug steamer/shampooer, the kind that sucks up the water, and run that over the spot without adding rug shampoo to the cleaner.
Q: The canister filter on (specifically, directly under) my 55 gallon sprung a leak, and in total has leaked 20+ gallons of nitrate-laden water onto the carpet around the stand. The canister is undergoing repairs ATM but the carpet is still soaked. Will I have to break down the aquarium and pull up the carpet, or can I keep mold from growing another way? Also, the canister was removed and will not be back up for at least a day, so how long can I keep my fish in there without an ammonia spike?
Assuming the carpet does not have a separate foam underlayment, rent or buy a high end wet/dry shop vac and vacuum the carpet repeatedly to remove the maximum amount of water. Shampoo the carpet to remove / neutralize the nitrates, then vacuum thoroughly again. Use a fan-type electric heater to blow warm air over the surface of the carpet continuously. Keep the room well-ventilated. If you can, remove the baseboards and use the vacuum to suck out all the water you can then reverse the hose on the vacuum and blow warm air all along the baseboard. If you can get the carpet thoroughly dry within 48 hours, you're unlikely to develop a mold problem. If however, there is a separate foam underlayment, your only option is to lift the carpet and dry or replace the underlay.
Q: when you leave heavy furniture on a carpet it leaves a mark like if you have a wardrobe on a vcarpet it leaves a mark but does the mark stay forever or does it only last a little bit?
It goes away after awhile.
Q: I have a rug imported from Iran. It is made of wool on a silk backing. My cat was sick on it and some of the color ran—vermilion into cream color. It is getting a bit dingy and I would like to get it cleaned. Is there any way to get the pinkinsh stain out of the cream part. It is a beautiful rug.
If the color ran, your rug was probably made with vegetable dyes rather than chemical dyes. Don't try to clean it yourself, you will make it worse! Take it to a cleaner specializing in oriental rugs and talk to the owner, not the counter clerk. It may be dicey, so ensure you use a professional company.
Q: I am wanting to make a braided rug. I have done a lot of research and have patterns, know how to do a few different braids, etc. The trouble I am having is deciding what kind of material to use. I know most people use scraps. I have some old clothes I can cut up, but what material is best? I have mostly old cotton t-shirts. Would that work? Do jeans work? Or should I just buy some sort of material at the store? Any recommendations??
I once bought an instruction book about this, although never made a rug. They recommend good quality cotton, and ripped, or cut on the bias to allow a bit of stretch. I've also seen them made from old nylon stockings. I'd suggest that jeans would work, if cut on the bias as recommended in the book. Durable, cheap, although not very long pieces if cut bias.
Q: If you have an apartment with Pergo or hardwood floors in an older building that doesn't have a lot of insulation will rugs, curtains and the like help with reducing noise transmission to other units?
I imagine the carpets would help reduce echo, so would lots of things in the room. Heat would help as well. You can't really reduce the sound and could probably only make a small effect after the carpet and curtain way
