- Stepping on carpet isn't going to make it mold, Mold can start to grow within 4 hours of carpet getting wet, You need to get some air circulating on that carpet . it should only take a couple of hours to dry, Put some fans blowing on it or any way you can get air movement, Open the windows or do all of these thing It sounds like you saturated the carpet , this is a common mistake people make cleaning there own carpets, good luck

- There is several types and sizes of matts that you put under area rugs. These will help stop the rugs from scooching. But you must get the type for rugs over carpets. - Our carpet has been great it has a stain guard so although a neutral colour we have no permanent marks. It wasn't a cheap carpet, I am not sure of the mix but isn't pure wool. I would think that the carpet selling places would be able to help as we stipulated that we wanted something stain/animal resistant. p.s. our very old dog has become incontinent so we have had alot of accidents lately, our carpet is a plain colour but with an indented square through it, so it gives off different shadings which helps with overall appearance.

- you could use bleach but that would just stain the rug. if the spot has dried,wet the spot slightly then pour some bicarbonate of soda down.leave for a while (over night or a few hrs) that will draw the smell out. brush the soda of once you've left it for a while. then clean it with a anti bac carpet cleaner and pat dry.if its small enough you could put it in the washing machine. if the smell is still lingering coffee is good for removing smells. put in down dry on dry fabrics leave again for a while then hover off,you might have to do this a few times,but it should work! hope that helps xxxx

- The carpet just sat overnight and now smells of mildew? Wow. First you need to kill the mildew. I would spray it with Lysol so that you saturate the wet spot. You need to make sure that the padding underneath the carpet will be clean and dry, so you may even need to lift up the carpet to check the padding. If the water has saturated through to the padding, you need to Lysol that too. Then blot it with a towel to get as much of the moisture out as possible, and turn a fan on that spot and leave it for a couple of days until you are sure it is completely dry. Then work some baking soda into the carpet and vacuum it up.
