Q:I‘ve been selling antique Motorcycle brake and clutch levers for European bikes on eBay. They have been selling to Italy mainly, but to date none of my bidders have received their items. Some of these people won their items at the end of November, some at the end of December. None of them purchased tracking or confirmation delivery. Insurance is not availible on international shipments.Thank you
First let me tell you that it took me 3 months to have a box go from San Diego to Italy. THREE MONTHS! Then the box got held up in Italian Customs because we had declared that there were some vitamins in the box (it was a 300 tab jar of C) If sent by ship this is the normal time. If you ship UPS courier then it generally takes some 5 to 10 working days. BTW, i had a Tracking number from the US Postal Services but that just showed how the package transited in the States - once it leave the US that tracking number isn't worth the paper it's written on. So, I'd say count on 3 months and then your person at destination will have to deal with Customs - generally 20% VAT + Duties. Amen.
Q:I have a 2000 Yamaha warrior and it starts sputtering and skipping the higher the rpm s go anyone have any ideas how to fix it
Make sure the spark plug is the correct number, and install a new one.
Q:I recently had the dealership change my rear tire on my motorcycle. I have noticed my rear brake is less responsive than before my new tire. I was wondering how to tighten up the rear brake pads so my rear brake has more stopping power. Any help or tips?
You can't tighten disc-brakes exactly, the calipers set just a few thousands of an inch off the rotor so unless the tire-changing mechanic put his greasy paws on the rotor or something to that nature than check the rear master brake cylinder for the correct level of fluid. I've found that if you can find an area of relative riding calm, speed up than apply the brakes rather hard without skidding and the calipers will find their place.
Q:So i changed the front pads of my sportbike..introduction: (at beggining the front brake lever was too low almost touching the handle to brake. When i changed the new pads, nothing really changed so i put a little top inside the regulation of the lever just to put it upper, so when i brake dont go too down )the problem. So after changing the pads, the bike got really braked, the wheel dont turn, and after a while it virtually stopped the bike too sudden, and got overheated on the disc rotors..i had to bleed them but after a little ride it happens again the bike brakes itself, and become really hard.the funny thing is that overnight the brakes got released itself and the wheel turns again.. until i brake a couple of times when it gets stucked again..What is it =(what i did wrong?whats the solution thanks!!mech experts 10 pts.
My guess is that the seals inside the caliper cylinders have picked up so much dust that it has jammed the pistons, you will need to completely strip down and service the caliper and replace the seals – do not scratch the bore.
Q:I would like to learn how to ride a motorcycle. The problem is last time I tried, I skidded and fell off twice. Thankfully it was in the grass so I suffered just brusing and mildly skinned arms. So I‘d rather not get on one again. But I was hanging with the relatives last night, and it turns out I‘m the only guy not riding. They could basically start a club/gang. I‘m looking for motivation and inspiration to get on it again. What got ya‘ll riding?
Take a safe RIDING course, it will start you the right way. It IS fun , but not for everyone.
Q:i am quite heavy and i was wondering weather there is a max weight or the bike will only go slower please help
the respond needs to be performed with a query, what do you propose on doing with the bike? if it is going to be an in-city use purely at low velocity, then sure it's going to be waiting to go you. (in all possibility not very rapid). this could be a 4-stroke bike, so it ought to have extra torque, yet I nevertheless think of you would be exceeding the obstacles of what the bike can take care of. you're extra helpful off finding at a 250cc engine a minimum of in case you propose on using any swifter than 40 5 mph, as I doubt a one hundred twenty five cc will do plenty extra desirable than that wearing 3 hundred lbs.
Q:In order to brake on a motorcycle, should you have the clutch pulled in? Or is it okay to start braking while slowly closing the throttle and not using the clutch?I dont need to know anything else about stopping power, front/rear brake, emergency stopping, etc. Just want to know if I need to fully disengage the clutch before braking or not.
First off, roll off the throttle all the way before you even begin braking. There is no reason in regular riding conditions to brake while you are still giving the machine gas. Second, braking with clutch is dependent on your bike, your speed and the gear you are currently in. If you are going too slow, then braking without being on the clutch will kill your bike, but traveling at 50 mph and grabbing some brake without the clutch to make it around a curve or corner is normal. You'll be able to feel it when you need to use your clutch while braking. The bike will start to hestitate and if you don't grab the clutch or let off the brake, then it will die. To be honest, you sound like you don't understand the mechanics and regular operation of a motorcycle, and you should take a MSF course. They will teach you through experience. It's a much better help than stangers on the internet trying to describe an action and set of skills in text. Good luck and ride safe.
