Q: I own a Springfield 1911 A-1 and I would like to get a rail system to attach a flashlight. Are there rail systems available which require little or no machining? If so what are the best rail systems available?
You mean a rail road? Im not sure you can buy one of those, and I dont think you can put one in a gun.
Q: Why is my 1994 Honda accord check engine light on? I recently drove from new jersey to south carolina this passed thursdayabout 10 hour drive I would say approx 200 miles or something. I change the oil regularly, have oil all systems go . Except now my check engine light comes on and off now and it never did ever and I‘ve had the car 4 years now. Anyone who moves or lives in the south knows you must have a car or your like nonexistent. Someone with auto knowledge please help me because I always maintain my car and would like to keep it running great as hondas are known for if maintained properly which I do a good job of.
All cars today are fully computerized and when anything goes wrong the computer throws out a code and the check engine light comes on. Usually but not always it is because one of the sensors is malfunctioning. The only way you will find out is to have a mechanic hook up an electronic analyzer to the car and pull codes. If it is emission related you probably will not notice any change in the performance of the car. However in most states you will have to make the repair or the car will not pass the emission test that you need to get your DMV sticker.
Q: this evening I let me battery die, by accident of course and got someone to jump the car, the car came on fine and I started driving and I noticed my airbag light was on, on the dashboard it didnt come on until after the battery died and got restartedcould anyone tell me why that light is on?or will it go off next time I start the car?i‘m scared, driving with an airbag light on cannot be good.
find leak with soapy water and sprayer should hear hissing
Q: My service engine light comes on for a couple weeks at a time and goes off for a couple of weeks at a time. I had the code read at auto zone ant it said a large emission leak (p 4045 i believe) so i replaced the gas cap to no avail. I do not understand why the light comes on and off so regularly if there is a problem. I would think it would just stay on. I just had an oxygen sensor replace less than a year ago for the same light for about $800. Do I really need to get this looked at or is there anything I can check myself?
When the check engine light turns on that is a emissions related condition. OBD-2 on-board diagnostic second generation in cars 1996 and newer. Flashing Engine light indicates a serious emissions issue that may cause cat converter or other emissions system failures. A leaking gas cap or a engine misfire can cause he light too. Next time the light turns on don't wait have the code checked write down the numbers and then ask if you can write down the freeze frame data too. Good Luck
Q: I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX 2 Dr. it has cruise control *the guy at the auto parts store asked, so I thought that might matter* and it is a 4 cyl. I am getting ready to sell it, the guy buying it wanted to take it to a mechanic to have it looked over, I agreed. At the end of the inspection, the mechanic said that everything was great except my brake lights didn‘t work. All the brake lights are out. I assumed it was the fuse, as did my BF.but after checking I don‘t see a brake light fuse. I really don‘t want to have to go through each fuse. My brother is mechanically inclined, and said it seems more likely to be the brake light switch as he checked the fuses he thought it was. So what does everyone else think? Ask for any additional information you need. Thanks a lot!

Q: When we are driving on the highway the service engine light will come on sometimes and then flash, and as its doing that the rpms go really high and the speed drops down. Any ideas why?
Never continue to drive if the check engine light is flashing, that is very different then if it is on steady. You can cause severe damage to the emission system, or the engine transmission. Sounds like your transmission or clutch is slipping. Get your diagnostic codes read at a local Autozone or Oreillys auto supply free.
Q: I just bought a used 2001 Honda Civic EX coupe today and I noticed when sitting with my car off that the anti theft light on the dash near the cd player was blinking. To my knowledge, the car has no security system (I only have a key, no fob or anything with auto locking and unlocking functions). What does this anti theft light do and what does it mean if it‘s blinking? Sorry only owned a 81 F150 before this so this is kind of new to me.
The light in my car does not blink. It comes on now and then. Should I take it to the dealer to have it check out?
Q: Thanks for answering so soon.Almost every year I have been going to the Toyota dealer with this problem. They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again. Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?
Post basics: Year, model, miles, engine type. You could be eligible for Lemon Law remedy, depending on which state you live in. Yes, some state's lemon laws cover used, and some cover private transactions. This is exactly the prob Toyota is having now with unfixable probs, hence their massive recalls and record fines. They'r not tampering. T built cars so complex w/ inadequate testing that there are a massive # of variables to be tested including air temp, humidity, static electricity, etc etc. In T's shop, it's likely air conditioned, but not in your driveway. T doesnt have the kids and the dogs bouncing around causing static electric. Run you VIN, Vehicle ID Number, on line and see if your car's on the recall list. The VIN's on your registration, and driver's door jam.
Q: Has anyone been having problems with Windows Updates lately? The past couple of times, my computer had automatic Windows updates, and I‘ve had problems turning my computer back on. The power light comes on, the CD/DVD drive light flashes as it should, but the system doesn‘t kick in or start up (no Windows splash screen, etc.).It‘s only when I unplugged and plugged in the computer itself, that my computer came back on. The same thing happened once before, after the previous Windows Auto update. I have turned off the auto update function in the Control Panel.Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to make sure I don‘t have this problem again? I‘m afraid to turn off my computer now, as I might not be able to turn it back on. I have an HP Pavilion with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
That and more. my most recent problems with Auto Update were updates changing drivers or firmware. I haven't had any problems since disabling the updates. You might need to do a system restore and then disable the updates and simply choose the files yourself to update.
Q: I have a 1999 volvo s70. The transmission wasn't running so good so me and my dad drained the transmission fluid and it was brown as heck! I know it supposed to be blood red but my dad said that he never saw transmission fluid so dirty. So we refilled it with dextron transmission fluid. We drove it for about 200 miles and then notice it was acting up a bit still. Then the blinking arrow light turned on and i know this means there is something wrong with the transmission. So we thought maybe its still the transmission fluid. So we drained it again and it was still dirt brown. We refilled it again and drove it around for a bit. It was shifting better and then it started to lose power and it shifts automatically into 3rd gear instead of starting in first gear. Now I know it can either be a bad pnp switch, or a bad solenoid, or the transmission fluid. I researched alittle bit but im just wondering if anyone knows what the problem can be.
The okorder /flashing-arrow-658 okorder /Cars/Discussion-... When draining/changing the trans fluid, it 's best to perform a complete fluid flush which will get out more of the old fluid although some people have had bad experiences with flushing or it's done wrong. Most shops just use the pressure of the onboard trans pump to flush out old fluid which is fine but make sure to change the filter screen if so equipped after flushing...not before. An alternative is to drain and refill the fluid...change filter...drive a few hours , then drain and refill again...repeat as needed until the fluid coming out no longer looks dark but looks reddish again although that may take several gallons to get out all remnants of the old fluid.
