- Q: Please Read Everything Below.I got a car back in October it is a 2002 Chevy Malibu and it was cold out so I haven‘t used the A/C until yesterday. I drove with my windows down to my destination so A/C was off and my car was in the sun outside in 80 degree weather for two hours then when left I turned the A/C on for the first time and it was emitting room temp air the whole half hour drive so I figured it might need a recharge or maybe it is leaking. Today I left and turned to A/C on and it seemed to be working a little bit better (50 degrees out) so I turned it on high after a couple minutes and the check engine light came on. I was just wondering if it could be a problem with the A/C that is causing it. Also if so can having low freon or whatever the refridgerant cause it or would it be more serious like a leak.Thanks in Advance. Any info will be very helpful.

- The ABS blinking light usually means that there is a problem with your anti-lock break system. Did it quit blinking and go away after you started it and drove it around for a bit? If so, then the car not starting probably reset the system and there is nothing wrong with your ABS System. If it is still blinking, I would take it to a mechanic that could hook up the coder machine to pin point what specifically happened in the brakes for the light to come on. The ABS light should have nothing to do with the car not starting. Process of elimination would be to check the battery first. Make sure that the cables are secured tightly to the terminals and that there is no corrosion. If the corrosion is bad, it will cause you car not to start. You can clean it up with baking soda and water, or your local parts store (which I prefer) has a spray cleaner to get the corrosion off. Take a steel brush and clean any of the corrosion that is left. Have the auto parts store test your battery and alternator to make sure those parts are not going out on you. Then the next step would be to check the starter. If your check/service engine light is on, they can pull the codes for you and tell you specifically what is happening with your engine, (I know Advanced Auto and Auto Zone have code readers and it's a free service). EDIT- Giving AZ the benifit of the doubt, lets say the gas cap was the problem. Driving the car will eventually turn the light off. Each code has a set number of pass tests that it has to go through before turning the light off. The evap system, the system involved in the gas cap, would take a long time to turn it off.

- Q: Preowned vehicle, Starter works very well,(hold both buttons down for -under two sec.)I have accidentally ( eep!) turned on the security system 4 times. (when it is on, car will not start, even with key) , can deactivate security feature by pressing # 1 button.BUT have no idea how to turn it on on purpose!Have tried just about every combination of buttons I can think of!I think this was installed at the GM factory because we have an idiot light on dash that reads ‘security‘ when the system is on. But I think it has been reprogrammed to become a remote starter as well. And naturally no manual or such came with the car.We always lock doors manually, using the power locks, could that be related in anyway???Happy New Year by the way. :)
- I had this problem with the 300esp, after pushing 100's of combinations I went to a local guy who hooked up to the brain and he was able to reprogram the brain and add a new key fob for 49bux. ALOT easier than playin the guessing game. and not too expensive either. I know on the 300esp you can accidentally change the settings by turning on the key and operating the valet switch a certain number sequence. After I guessed and played around with a few sequences I thought it might be.I only made the problem worse then went to the local guy. good luck
