Q:I understand basically that lifting it with a crank or hydraulic lift (usually equipped with most vehicles) is enough for changing a flat tire, but if I need to slide up under it,.what‘s the SAFEST method for getting underneath to do minor work on suspension? Need some advice here before I go and hurt myself. Thanks
NEVER WORK UNDER A CAR WHEN JUST RESTING ON THE JACK! That is a very good safety rule. Car ramps or car stands (jack stands), are best for when working under a vehicle at home, better still would be a pit or a hoist, but you're unlikely to have access to those. The ramps will elevate the car, either front or rear, but not both at the same time. The stands can be used to get all four wheels off the ground but then you will need four of them. For the ramps, you just drive your vehicle onto them. For the stands you jack up the car, put the stands in place, then remove the jack, making sure the stands are taking the weight on the chassis.
Q:I have a pair of Double Diamond subframe connectors for my 02 Trans Am and I need to get them welded onto the underbody of the car. Do muffler shops perform these types of services?. Also the car lift used has to be a drive on lift, NOT a frame off lift- where all 4 tires are hanging and the car if supported from the center.
Some body shops will do this type of work, but I believe you are looking for someone who specializes in customizing cars. This is where you just have to go see and talk to the them.
Q:There are those electric chair lifts that go on the bumper of cars, will they hold electric mobility chairs on Cars or would I need to get an SUV? Please only serious answers. Dont answer if you dont know or if you arent going to give me a Yes it will or No you need to get a ___ type of car
So I can't answer that it will or won't hold a wheelchair lift? What I would do is contact manufacturers of wheelchair lifts and find out from them how, or if, they mount to passenger cars. Tell them what car you have or are planning to get. Some I remember seeing mount to the roof of the car if it is meant to facilitate the operator getting into the car as well. It's a kind of hoist type to help you load it in the back seat. And I know of lots of cars that have a carrier mounted on the rear end if mobility from the bumper to the driver's door isn't a problem for the operator. That vans we've had had swing out types from the side door that allowed the operator to basically roll in behind the driver's seat.
Q:The front wheels of a racing car are located far out in front to help keep the vehicle from nosing upward when it accelerateswhat physics concepts play a role here? Does it have to do with the center of gravity being in the back with the torque playing a role as well?Any advice would be appreciated.
Rear-wheel drive is the preferred metheod of propelling a race car, especially in drag racing where the weight is transferred to the rear wheels. When your driving a front-wheel drive car into a turn while accellerating you're pulling the car intead of pushing the car. If you push a car around a corner as in rear-wheel drive, you have more control over the distribution of weight and the physical effects, such as inertia (trying to change direction of a body in motion). You are able to force the car instead of guiding it, enabling the driver to have more control than he really needs, by seperating the drive wheels from the wheels that steer the car. You make the front axle do a job and also the rear axle do a job. A front wheel drive is anemic like a paraplegic, where you limit function. As far as a front wheel drive car being used in racing, there are always going to be people who want to try something different, but so far with a car with four wheels, rear wheel drive is better for all types of racing.
Q:Im restoring a classic car and i want to get under neath the car to clean all the dirt off and ruber paint but i dont have those lifts you get at the mechanics . eny ideas ? P.s the car has no engine there for it is easyer to lift
I wouldn't ride that thing right now. That could be bad. You could low side. Everything can't be working. Something went wrong. Did you top up the brake master cylinder recently? Did you use the wrong brake fluid by accident? Was the cap loose? The vent blocked? You don't want a warped rotor either. How many miles on this thing?
Q:need t know what ton jack i need for my 2 half ton car
A liquid conducting core. We use molten sodium in our experiments. It's liquid metallic hydrogen with Jupiter.
Q:Yingkou how many production of lifting machine Pa Pa machine
Too many numbers come
Q:I‘d like to get an idea on how large an electromagnet I‘d need to move irregular sized items such as a car engine. I‘m aware that a 500 lb magnet will hold 500 lbs when it‘s in full contact with the object it‘s lifting, so how big do I need to go?
I would follow the directions on the can. If you add too much, it gets too thick.
Q:I have a 2003 crown vic (it was a police car at one point) and recently when i accelerate, usually between about 20-30mph, there is this metallic rattling sound under the car. The last time it did that, I got the oil changed (about 4 weeks ago) and the sound went away. However yesterday it started back up again. I figured that maybe my car is burning oil but when i checked the levels, it looked fine. The oil didn‘t look contaminated either, at least not as far as i could tell. Any ideas where to go from here?
Check for loose heat shields around the catalytic converters. Remove all the loose ones.
Q:I give family members lifts home, like if my sisters come to visit, or sometimes borrow the car to go on outings with my sisters, such as a walk, or taking my mum to Tesco. I‘ve also borrowed the car 4 times in the last 6 months (as far as I can remember) for cinema trips with friends and to a party. So, what should I contribute to the upkeep of the car? Also, when I first passed my driving test I offered to pay for petrol and he didn‘t want me to as - 1) He didn‘t want me to think I could borrow the car loads/ get it in my mind that I half own the car and 2) He didn‘t intend for me to use the car a lot. Also, when I ask my Dad what I should contribute he tells me not to bother however, I remember he used to moan about my brother not contrubiting to the car when he borrowed it.
the bad side of owning a manual trans is when an auto fails, there usually is something left to build, with a manual, your looking at a great expense if it has been run to the point of failure if you can get the parts that is. sometimes rebuilding a manual trans just isn't financially feasible. besides, you don't want some dealer mechanic trying his luck repairing your manual trans
