Q: I just put a new sound system in my boat with a sony xplod sub and amp, and also an infinity reference amp with 4 kenwood speakers. The problem i'm having is that i had to run the amp power cable right past the right rear speaker and now i'm getting a lot of feedback when the engine is turned on. Is there any way to insulate the power cable so that i don't get that annoying feedback through that one speaker? thanks-Josh: You have to move that wire away from the spk. is it close to the spk, or is the wire close to the one for the spk? You may be able to block the amp wire from the spk, by placing some wood of some sort between the two( hillbilly I know but...) The other thing you can try would be to wrap the amp wire with a plastic conduit, od a foam like expanding spray foam could shield it. You can also try a magnet ont he power wire to the spk.(that may take the feed back out of it.) Or try them all at once LOL(sorry but it might work) Just try to get the wires as far away from the other as possible. Hope that helps. Cheers Wiretheworld

Q: Why is my 2 Gage power cable from the battery to my amp is to hot and makes a big spark and burns the wire when you meet one end to the other end?: Too hot means the current is very high. Probably in excess of 200 amps. I suspect there is a short in the amp, specially if you tried to connect it hot and drew a spark. That will kill a lot of electronics. .

Q: im curious what a good rule of thumb would be for determining how strong a fuse to put in line to the amp. im getting a 2300 watt amp but dont know how many amps of fusing it uses. so i dont know its power draw. any help would be great: i have a 5500watt amp i use 250 amp

Q: I have solid interconnects and speaker cable, but I was perplexed by the notion that the power cable that comes with your power source and preamp is somehow inadequate. It seems like another thing to try to market and sell to unsuspecting enthusiasts of an expensive hobby.: Personally, I don't think so, the main goal of the power cable is to power your sub, receiver, preamp... the only difference is probably shielding, and that issue can be lowered by having good shielded sound and video cables, and make sure you don't have them running side-by-side. If anything I would put that money on a power stabilizer or a UPS for critical systems....
