Q: What can I use to hold rugs in place throughout the house I just moved into a new place and the floors are really slippery the rugs aren't helping a lot.
If you go to any type of cvs/walgreens or even target. Go to the section that has the kitchen area and pick up a roll of rubber mats. They are supposed to be for the cup boards as liners. They work great for this too. They are great you can cut them and place them under the rug they will keep the rug in place. I think that they are made by rubber maid and come in all different colors. I have my children place them in there rooms under their trophy's and glass items they work great.
Q: I spilled some dark red nail polish on my carpet. I removed some of it with polish remover, but am afraid to use more because it might damage the carpet. Any ideas on how to get it out.
I know it's kinda late for this, but I would buy some to keep on hand for the next time. I saw this stuff on one of the home shopping shows. It was shown by a man named PROFESSOR AMOS. Thats the name of his products. The one you need is the one with banana oil. You won't believe the stuff! It works on lots of stains, not just nail polish. I spilled burgundy polish in my husbands new truck. I got out what I could with remover, then used Professor Amos' product, and it all came out. I've used several of his products, and they all do just what he says.
Q: My carpets are heavyly stained, i have shampooed them using bleach, but the resalt i want is to bleach them as close to white, or clean i can get . Ihave to small children in the house to think about too! Any suggestions on how to clean the carpet myself, within a day would be great!
I would be very leary of using bleach on carpet. First of all, most carpet has manmade fiber ( nylon or polypropelene, for example) which will melt if bleach hits it. Second, the padding underneath is generally a recycled material that wil disintegrate when the bleach hits it. Third, carpet fiber is held together with a stiff substance that looks a lot like burlap to which the carpet fiber is looped and glued. Bleach will cause the glue to release its adherence over time. Now if your carpet is Olefin, it can take bleach without any of these consequences occurring. But in the final anaylsis, you have small children and bleach is caustic. I would be afraid of having bleach sink down into the padding and having it walk back up to the surface where it could harm or worse yet, poision your children. If you are looking to both brighten the carpet and remove the stains there are many cleaners you can use in a rental steam machine that will do the job, but won't whiten the carpet. You can even use oxyclean diluted in the machine or straight to remove the stains as a pre-spotter. Capture, Resolve, Nature's Miracle and Tech all make heavy duty cleaners that can be loaded into a steam cleaner. Folex found at home depot can brighten and remove most stains with little effort, too.
Q: Me couple of friends are looking to get carpet to do up a quot;cubby housequot;. Crap carpet seems to be 90 to 100 dollars per broadloom metre new. Obviously it does not have to very good quality. Is there any wayyy cheaper solution to this? (South of Perth, Western Australia)
you can get carpet way cheaper then that in NSW - Tell them to shop around in WA Otherwise just buy off cuts or ask carpet retailers if they have any orders that were not purchased - they usually do have cancelled orders - try that
Q: Wat materials are there for carpets?
Generally, it's polypropylene. There are also nylon, wool and blended yarn that are of good quality for carpets.
Q: my brother is balding, he wants to get a rug and says they look great......he can afford it but it costs a ton.....I said just shave your head...what do you think??.........carpet it or shave it clean?
Shave.
Q: An orange candle spilled on my light burber carpet. I've removed all the wax but now I'm stuck with an orange stain!!! Any suggestions on how I could remove it?
Kelly, After you used the iron like described above, use a degreaser like 'Dissolve-it to remove the last of the residue. Candle wax is a oily type stain so a degreaser is cruicial. The big caution is not to use a product so strong it takes color out of the carpet that is supposed to be there. I have never had Dissolve-it or Simple Green harm anything I've used them on. Good luck!
Q: My 2 year old female has taken up the habit of scratching and soiling rugs in our bathroom. We wash or replace the rug, but she keeps doing it! We also clean out the litterbox everyday, and wash it once a week. She also has multiple scratching posts, toys, etc. She eats only hard food and has clean water on a daily basis. We also have 1 other male cat who is 3. Please help! NO STUPID ANSWERS!
The rugs may have 'litterbox smell on them now. Try using an enzymatic cleaner on them. You can find the cleaner at the pet store. The other option is to not put down the rugs for a bit until kitty gets used to the box again and forgets about the rugs....
Q: what is the best cleaning solution for cleaning carpets?
Ask an honest carpet man! :You will find the only thing really recommended is water! NO soap (the residue attracts more dirt!)...Just steam with water, do NOT soak carpet, but keep it lightly misted and vacuumed up with a carpet cleaner...if the dirt does NOT all come up with the first cleaning, wait until it dries, then do it again. Dirt makes its way down into the carpet and will keep coming up as the carpet dries if you get the carpet too wet. Good luck
Q: How do you fix the room carpet?
Carpet all over, glue, or nail wood around the room. It's OK. Use the glue!
