Q: Is there any type throw rug that will not slide on a nylon rug?
Very few rugs are made with a non-skid backing. But a pad to put under the rug is very common, and should solve your problem. Any place you buy a new rug should also be able to sell you a pad to go under it. Just make sure it's a rubbery pad and not just the foam cushion that goes under wall-to-wall carpet.
Q: I have a white berber carpet in my room, and it has these gross grayish areas that are probably from dirt and what not . Also, my nauseous doggy sleeps on my bed and I have his various, dried throw up stains in it too. I've tried orange Goo Gone on everything , and it didnt work . I would like something that's pretty cheap that I could buy at like a local Walmart/Target, deep cleaning , pet safe , works on berber carpet , and isent a ton of hastle. I mean I don't mind getting on my hands and knees working stuff in , but nothing too extreme. I just want my carpet clean!!I don't want to have to rent a carpet cleaner , so I'm curious . What store bought carpet cleaners have worked for you? And do you think those will work for my carpet ? Thank you so much! (:
How To Clean Berber Carpet
Q: Someone told me that decorators have a general rule for the size area rug you need for a room. It is something about a certain number of feet of exposed floor around the perimeter of a room. Does anyone know about this? Thanks.
There really isn't such a rule. An area rug is used to anchor the furniture arrangement in a room and as a sound barrier for hard surface flooring. I would look at how the furniture is arranged a choose a size that optically connects the furniture to the rug. More often than not, people choose a rug that is too small and out of scale with the furniture. A 6 x 8 may be optimal for the dimensions of the room if it serves the scale of the furniture and the amount of furniture in the room.
Q: I only lived here for one year and my dog left some poo stains on the carpet that i cant get off, and I didn't pay any pet deposit. Is it mandatory for all apartments to change the carpet?
I have never heard of the tenant changing the carpet. Usually the apartment complex will look at and assess the carpet to determine if it can be cleaned to a reasonable degree. This is done after you have moved everything out and handed in your keys. If the carpet is older than six years (at least in my complex) when the renter is moved out then it is automatically replaced, saving whatever we can for patches in other apartments such as flood damage or burn holes. I recommend having a professional carpet cleaning company with a truck mounted steam cleaner come and give you their assessment on the carpet. Ask them if they think they can get the carpet clean. If not, don't have them do it, as you will be wasting your time and money. As far as the carpet replacement goes, depending on your location ( I'm located in the Midwestern United States) You can figure on about $10.00 a square yard, depending on the installers agreement with the complex and the quality of the carpet and pad it could be a little more or a little less, but $10.00 is a pretty safe estimate.. This is then deducted from you deposit check before it is sent to you. If the carpet is in reasonable condition then you are not charged anything for the automatic steam cleaning that takes place when a tenant moves out. GOOD LUCK!!!
Q: I purchased a very beautiful antique rug 2 days ago. The rug had been locked away in storage for years. It has a relatively strong musty odor. It is too delicate for professional deep cleaning. I have gently beaten it to remove dust, and now have it hanging in an open garage. I sprayed it with Febreze, but that only helps for a few minutes. Do you think it just needs to air out and give it time or is there something safe I can use on it? It is huge, like 10ft x 14 ft. No deep cleaners will touch it because they fear they will damage it. Help anyone! Thank you.
I have many antique and vintage rugs which came to me really smelling bad. The one thing you can do to absorb the odor without damaging the fiber is to sprinkle it with baking soda and letting it sit, vacuuming it up and reapplying until the odor is absorbed. I have tried airing them out and have found that most of them that are natural fibers (like wool and silk) just don't smell good still when put indoors in a closed room and further, if you live in a smoggy, dusty or hazy area like I do, they simply pick up other odors from the environment. I have found treating both sides with the baking soda helps, too, because the backing particularly if it is a natural fiber, is also impregnated with the same odor as the fibers.
Q: I recently moved into a new flat and the carpets in the bedrooms are pretty dirty. There seems to be felt tip pen marks and smeared in makeup from the previous owners. The colour of the carpet is light grey.I'll buy new carpets in the future, but I just want them nice and clean seeing as I can't afford new ones at the moment. How can I clean them?
You can hire a 'Rug Doctor' from a few large supermarkets. BQ hire them and sell the chemical.
Q: How to judge the quality of carpet?
A hand to touch the carpet pile, the quality of its products is high, the carpet surface density is plump, elastic carpet such good resistance, abrasion resistance, trample, comfortable and durable. Don't take here to remind consumers to select method to select the plush carpet, seemingly fluffy 20molecules good-looking, but not easy to pile pile density, lodging deformation, this carpet is not anti stampede, performance carpet unique and easy to lose, not durable.
Q: i want a rug for my room and cant find any i really love.
Genuine Sheepskin Rug Four Pelt Natural White 4x6 NEW is very white, very nicely made, soft, and appropriately fluffy. I have felt two sheepskin rugs that were softer and a little bit more refined, but they were $600.00 a piece, rather than $160.00. Given the price difference and the, apparently high quality of this rug, this is definitely the best option.
Q: really want one like this but i will not pay 500 bucks for a 8 by 10 rug....(or how ever much it costs..)just, where can i find a big, fluffy, soft rug like this one for an affordable price? (i like the off white and the teal) = ) thanks i guess :)
Try the following stores. Walmart Big Lots Garden Ridge I remember seeing these at walmart and Garden ridge at one time.
Q: My new living arrangement will be in the basement of a house my friends and I are renting. The house is kind of older, so it's going to be kind of tricky finding good newer style furniture that won't clash with the rooms. The basement has gray carpet (blah) with wooden walls that have sort of a mix of green and light brown color.
I love the idea with the navy and the orange! Very cute, modern, and classy. The walls might not match, but its worth a try. I think it will work. This may seem a little crazy, but you could get like the paint swatches at Lowe's or Home Depot of navy, orange, grey, or whatever colors you want and hold them up to the walls to see if they clash. It's worth a try.
