Q: we had new carpet put in about four months ago .the carpet was suppose to have been scotch guard .the carpet gets dirt very fast .is there anyway or any place to send a piece for testing to make sure it was the right carpet: I was told by the carpet layer from Discount City Carpets when laying my new (solution-dyed nylon twist) carpets about 18 months ago that new carpet comes Scotchguarded and it is removed with steam cleaning.

What does an expert think?: The rug should extend past the chairs when they are being sat in so that all chair legs are on the rug. Measure the area with the chairs pulled out from a table a bit and get a rug that size or slightly larger. The 9 x 12 probably works. Nothing smaller will.

Q: We live in a really modern apartment- it was once a warehouse and they developed them into apartments with exposed pipes and such. We just got some couches... they are destressed black so sometimes they look really dark brown in the light, but they are black. We have the original oak floors with all the scrapes and knots in the them. We have dark wood for all of our furniture. We are trying to figure out a color scheme for the living room and more importantly a rug that would go. Any advice would be great! It seems that all the colors we like have brown as the main color in the rug and we weren't sure if that would go.Thanks!: Open and airy can soon become dark and closed in if everything you put into a room is dark. There are plenty of rugs that have brown in them but aren't all brown. If the couches look brown work with that. Here's a link to look at rugs. Q: i found maggots in my carpet.how do i kill them..can i put salt on them..?: how did this happen? raw or spoiled meat in you carpet? i would first figure out how they got there, so that when you get rid of them, it doesn't happen again. BTW maggots=fly larvae
