- Q:The computer is a Hp compaq. So I took the connector out of the computer but left it in the power socket. When I tried to reinsert the connector I hit the metal back panel of the computer and it made contact so I was wondering what is the part(s) that is likely to be broken?I want to know it so I can replace the damaged parts. Thanks in advance of your help.
- The power cable should have enough rubber/plasitc to stop contact with power supply directly unless you seen a spark I would try the a different cable. Is the power supply turned on? If it did spark and is turned on try swapping the power supply. Actually I missread, it touched the case itself so now you have to start swapping all parts starting with the power supply, then motherboard if that doesnt work. I hope you have some spare parks around. you could also take out the power supply and you will see a long 24-pin connector you can short the 1 green wire with a black one to see if the power supply turns on. The connector is a cable comming from the PSU not on the motherboard. And lastly each time you try to start the computer after swapping somthing only have the essentials to have it start. No CD drive extra HDD etc.
- Q:On my PSU I have two PCI-E 6 pin cables. I have looked at the motherboard and saw there is nowhere to plug it in and my motherboard manual says of no slots for it but I do have two PCI-Express slots. Do they plug into the cards themselves or something? How do I use the PCI-E power cables?
- The PCI-E power cables plug into cards that require more power than the PCI-E slot can provide. Usually this is only needed for higher-end video cards.
- Q:Just wondering if the eVGA GT 440 graphics/video card needs a power cable connect from the psu to it.I bought a PC pre-made from JB HI-FI and going to upgrade my graphics card. The one I have currently is the Radeon HD 4650 and it appears to have no cable connecting to it. There are however, some cables connecting to the motherboard near it.
- No, it doesn't need one, but it's also a crappy purchase. The Radeon 6670 costs about the same, doesn't require external power, and slaps the GT 440 silly.
- Q:It's not the original power cable but it's going to my current DVR.
- The cable will work just fine.
- Q:Hi, I bought a geforce gtx 660 ti and with it came 2 X 6 pin PCI express power cables. Problem is I only have 2 connectors in my computer, so one cable is useless. Will 2 Athena Power Model CABLE-YPHD 8Molex Y Splitted Power Cables allow me to use both the PCI cables? Thanks.
- Hi There, Both ports need to be connected for power for the card and if that is the case then two feeds from the power supply would need to be used. This would be because one power feed with the Y connector probably would have too much load on the one single feed and it would overheat and could cause a big problem. To be absolutely sure you should refer to the instruction manual for exactly what is needed. If still unsure a call to the manufacturer should sort things out. By the way this video card requires a 450 watt (or larger) power supply to operate properly. I would buy a proper power supply for this powerfull video card. This card needs 400 watts if overclocked so I would go for a power supply of about 600 watts (or larger) with feeds for each power adapter for the video card. Hope this helps, Al
- Q:Hi, i cant find anywhere to pass the power cable into the bonnet in my clio 2002 1.2l. Anyone know what to do?
- Yes. You will have to drill your own hole, and add a grommet.. I reccomend a step bit. Do not forget to add a grommet to protect the wire from rubbing against the firewall.. As I was taught, Look Twice, Drill Once.. Good Luck!!
- Q:What type of cable is the power cable?
- Our unit to do the professional cable tray to the current domestic ranking before 3 I did not see we have this certification ah there is a professional health and safety management system has an environmental management system and other quality management system of other scientific and technological innovation patents have a lot of what I do not see the CCC, but you can do the next try you can log in China certification recognized information network - expert column, consult the above experts, these experts have all walks of life experience, can help to you.
- Q:its a rca home theater system and i need a power cable as my last one broke is there somewere were i can buy one
- There is a 95% chance it uses one of two standard power cord styles TVs these days come with, which is a 3 prong cord identical to what computers come with, or a polarized figure-8 cord, as some portable or bookshelf stereos come with You can get them anyplace that has A/V accessories.
- Q:The inside of my computer has a modular power supply that did not come with enough cables, and I have a graphics card that requires two 6 pin connections to the power supply. Luckily, my power supply has just enough open slots. The problem is that I can't find a place to buy a simple 6 pin cable. It needs to be about a foot long to reach. Can someone please help me? I would prefer newegg if possible, but I searched there and I'm getting pretty frustrated.
- Assuming that the power supply can power the card you need a molex to 6pin adapter. They sell them on newegg. You wont be able to buy a 6pin cable unless your power supply is modual meaning you can disconnect the wires from the PSU. Most power supply's you cant do this and the ones that do cost extra.
- Q:so I bought a new power supply to go with my new case and motherboard, and when I recived the new power supply it didn't have a power cable That Plugs into the wall, can I use the one from my old power supply or will I have to get a new one? Cause I tried using it and my pc didn't turn on, or is my power supply that I got possibly dead?
- every power supply I've gotten for years uses completely standard, detachable power cords. I've never yet seen one that will not use the same cords as all the others. Use the one from the old supply
