Q: What is clean for composite flooring?
Composite floor of the waterproof than the solid wood flooring better, but do not use a very wet mop to wipe, you can first use a vacuum cleaner first vacuum, and then half a tide of the mop can clean the ground.
Q: The sub floor in my kitchen was nailed in. About 10 years ago I put down vinyl tile squares and within the past 10 years the nails have been coming up through the tile. I am about to replace the floor with a vinyl sheet, I don't want this to happen again so how can I prevent this without taking out all the nails in the entire floor and replacing them with screws?
Mine has been nailed down 40 years now and not a nail pop is showing on a sheet of vinyl.. What is done these days is you can buy 1/4 inch plywood sheets (I like plywood over PDF) and use a screw gun and put down another sub-floor. using floor screws and make sure they are sunken slightly. Yes that means a lot of wood again. OR SOME of the nails are causing you grief. You can grind off the heads with an angle grinder(or pull those useless nails.as they are doing nothing anyways). They won't be a problem as they were not holding the floor down anyways. You may want to nail in another nail. In that case make sure it is Longer than what you pulled out. A 2 1/2 to3 galvanized nail and pound it down so the head is below the surface some(like a dimple) When new floor is laid down you use glue and that fills the dimples in the floor. The problem stems from floor joist spacing is too great so there is a great flex when one walks on the floor. If the floor joists are spaced far apart then the floor plywood needs to be thicker to keep the flexing to a minimum. You got wide joist spacing and minimal T&G plywood thickness. The nails can only come up because of the weight placed on the floor in the middle(between the joists) is like a claw hammer pulling nails. If you have forced air heating it is easy to see how thick the floor is because most vents are placed in the floor under a window. Take off the grate and try to see past the metal of the heating duct to see how thick the plywood is. Each layer in plywood is 1/8 In my jurisdiction , 5/8 is the minimum floor thickness of the plywood.. I lay ceramic or slate or granite floor tile. Regulation for that is 1 thick So 5/8+3/8=1inch. Then I pour a float on the floor(basically concrete) so now it is dead level and rigid. So that is an inch 1/2 thick before the 1/4 inch tile go on top.
Q: 12 x 15 foot floor
Hi, 'W. Depends a lot on what the tile is applied to. If it's on thinset on concrete backer board, a day's work, if you can pry up sections at a time. If it's thinsetted directly to a concrete slab, then it's one or two tiles at a time, with thinset and some grout still stuck to the slab, so back over again to shave that off, maybe three days of messy, dusty work to get a clean floor - and watch out for sharp edges. Using a rental Bosch demolition hammer will get it done, coming in at a low angle. And gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, dust-control plastic sheeting, and covering HVAC vents. One of the next projects here will be peeling the tile off the kitchen floor, previously installed by the former owner directly on the plywood sub-floor, estimated removal time around two hours. They will actually pop loose with no effort on my part, so I'll just help them along. (Too much H&G TV?)
Q: I'd like to buy a non-wool floor cover that's heat insulating and soft on barefoot (ie not seagrass). Any suggestions?
Go for cork tiles. They meet all of your criteria.
Q: how can I keep smooth ceramic tile floor clean
bleach cleaner works great, but they will eventually get dirty again soooo...
Q: Help? I have just moved into a realtivly new 4 bed house @ 9 years old. The main bedroom floor is very very creaky more so than i remember when we went to view. The main bedroom is the worst. My best guss is there is about 5mm gap between the tongue and grove floor boards and the joists in this room.My sons bedrooms are ok. Is there any fix for this? I was told cutting the floor up was an option but seems a bit extreme .Any advice most welcome... Many Thanks
If you do not have a carpet down you and the floor is just the floor boards it is just that the floor nails they have used have become loose. Buy some new floor nails and hammer down the places it squeeks. You should be able to see where the old ones are and hammer next to those. (you need to hammer into the floor joists). Use a hole punch to ensure the nail head is not raised. If you have carpet down then you can still do this but finding the joists is hit and miss. Becarfull and think about what might be under the floor, pipes etc.... If you hammer where current nails are in you should be OK.
Q: Solid wood flooring in the air-conditioned room why Alice
Floor arch is generally because of "hot up heat shrink". Air conditioning room due to regular air conditioning, the surface temperature is relatively low, and the floor is not installed when the installation of a certain small gap, making the floor "breathing" is not smooth, resulting in "hot up." And the arch of the solution: remove the arched wooden blocks and the surrounding floor to make it ventilated and scattered gas, can ease the arches problem; a large area pry up the arch at the floor, waiting for the ground, keel dry, and then lay the floor back; Pay attention to keep the floor and the normal contact with the outside world, so that the balance with the atmospheric humidity; if the arch is serious, may consider replacement. In order to prevent the floor from the arch, the general laying of the master in the pavement floor will be set aside before a certain small gap, to the floor to stay "hot expansion and contraction" of space. Single floor warp, then there is no way to only the deformation of the floor pry the new floor. If it is the entire floor of the arch from the arch, the single plate is not deformed, it can also be remedied, so that the installation of the floor after the re-pavement, around the expansion of the joints in the resurfacing when the whip and bamboo Appropriate to stay a little wider, if only part of the arch from the arch, then put the arch that part of the move to the nearest corner, the piece of the floor from the floor to re-shop can be a solution to this can solve the basic problem. Hope to be useful to you
Q: My house to decorate, trouble a bit
Home heating method If it is geothermal, then the floor must be selected for the geothermal preparation of the Dangzhuo melon dagger check the sleep board can only be fine, the market of geothermal flooring are generally parquet or composite floor, solid wood The floor is generally not used on geothermal
Q: Where can I get two floor hockey sticks (big enough for adults) cheap? Like really cheap. Thanks!
how tall are these adults? generally speaking floor hockey sticks have an inexpensive wood shaft and plastic blade. even the better ones by Mylec or Koho will be about $15 new and in hockey you want a stick to reach your chin and so even in you're gonna be playing in shoes they are only good for people up to 5'10 or so. oh and as far as where to get them? Sports Authority or Craig's List .. with the size of sticks OKorder might initially be a better deal but when you factor in shipping it will cost you more that way.
Q: It is estimated that the cost of constructing an office building that is n floors high isC(n)= 3n^2+500n+842thousand dollars. How many floors should the building have in order to minimize the average cost per floor? (Remember, your answer must be a whole number.) ______ floors
If the cost per floor is C(n) = 3n^2 + 500n + 842 then the average cost per floor would be this function divided by the number of floors n: A(n) = (3n^2 + 500n + 842)/n A(n) = 3n + 500 + 842/n This is the function we want to minimize, so take it's derivative: A'(n) = 3 + 0 + -842/n^2 To find possible max/min values, set the derivative equal to zero: 0 = 3 - 842/n^2 842/n^2 = 3 842 = 3n^2 n^2 = 842/3 n = sqrt(842/3) = 16.753 Since we can only have whole number answers, our answer must be either 16 or 17 A(16) = 600.625 A(17) = 600.5294 So our answer will be 17 floors
