Q: Our common room tile floor has kind of a dirty/worn look to it (might be grout?), and it's not really being taken care of by mopping. we're looking for an industrial-type way to clean it. what is the difference between floor stripping and polishing (and the machines involved)? and what would be better for our purposes?THANKS!
The process of stripping a floor is to remove all the build up wax that accumulates in time . Polishing is to shine the wax that you apply to it , you can polish with a floor polisher every day if you wish to take scuff marks off and dust at the same time . I have always used paste wax when I polished my floors and stripped them down with Varsol You can purchase a floor polisher that serves dual purpouse ,it comes with felt pads for polishing and scrubby pads for stripping. You can also rent a machine for this type of job Home Depot rents them out.
Q: Chinese hospitals only have 4 floors ' was a fact of the day at school. Why can't they have any more floors??!
Lots of buildings in China do not have a 4th floor. The character si sounds like the character for death. It is like the 13th floor in America. Also where I was living a lot of buildings were only 5 floors tall because apparently if they are under 6 floors they do not need to have an elevator.
Q: I want to remove the laminate flooring and put tile in what tools do I need to use and how do you get the glue off
It should be a floating floor. If it is glued together, then you can't save it. I like Don's answer, might be fun. Cut it up in manageable strips, have fun. If it is snap together, you might be able to save it for another project. You'd have to remove the baseboard or shoe, but you could save most of it. But if you don't care about saving it, go back to the circular saw. If the floor is the thin plywood tongue and grove with hardwood veneer of yesteryear, then you have quite a chore. Cut it up, and scrap, scrap, scrap. Some of that type was glued down. I'm sure it will very tough to remove by using a floor scraper and elbow grease. But that's only way I know of to remove the glue.
Q: What can be used to mop wax floors in-between waxes? My employees and I are having a hard time finding a cleaner that won't ruin the surface. For now, we are using just hot water and a mop but the water always leaves marks and doesn't seem to really do any. It just seems to make it dirtier. Any suggestions?
Try okorder / Some of the Mop and Glo products used to be sold in department and grocery stores too, but I haven't looked for it for a long time since my home is mostly carpeted.
Q: Kitchen floor has particle board sub floor with luan cover and a vinyl floor, the floor moves cracking the vinyl. Want to put down 3/4 solid wood floor. What should I do?
floating floor is one that sits a top existing floor and is not attached to the current floor example is a pergo floor
Q: I bought lamanited flooring, the gentlemen that sold it to me said it was easy to install. I've done tile before so I believed him. I spend close to $400. worth. I ruin some planks because I tried to glue it. Anyway I would like to hire someone to do it, if not how can I do it myself. I know part of the problem is the floor is not even.
If the floor is not even because you have a subfloor problem then a carpenter should fix it for you. If it is a large unevenness problem you can use more plywood or something like luan on the floor first to bring it level, then patch with thinset or another liquid patcher to get it even. If you go to a flooring store and ask for a liquid leveler or an embosser someone should be able to help you. Really the laminate should be easy to install yourself because it is all tounge and groove. It is the floor evening that should be left to a professional. Whant Brand is the laminate? Most websites of companies that make laminate have instructions on how to install it. Good luck
Q: Looking for a green safe way to lay carpet onto of the basement floor with pading. Existing Carpet was glued down. I have a new born baby and the basement didn't get finished before she was born. I feel it is unsafe now to lay the carpet now. but if they don't us glue is their a way to staple into concret floor.
What about the tacking strips. Or you can even get the double sided tape for flooring. Good luck to ya, and congrats on the new baby.
Q: I have a grated floor in the cage. Is it okai if im tryingto breed my pair??
yes it is alright, but you might need a nest box, so they will feel comfortable,
Q: The kitchen floor is all tiles or whatever a kitchen floor is supposed to be.
Its doubtful that precise urine is on the partitions, its on the whole just smell. You can also simply need to stay up for wall odors to fade. A new coat of paint will help. Now, for the floors, in the event you are not able to wash the smell out, you need to don't forget new carpeting and/or linoleum. It could most often use an replace anyway. If the scent is in the subflooring, there are chemicals you can placed on the spots so that it will consume the enzymes within the urine, and they'll eliminate the odor. Then, before you put down carpet, call around a find some incorrectly combined paint (so its quite low-cost,) or a habitat for humanity retailer for inexpensive paint, and paint the subfloors. This may increasingly make them the place they is not going to get water broken you probably have a leak sometime, and it'll hold your subfloors from absorbing spills and such. Don't be involved about color of paint, as it's going to be protected along with your flooring masking and never visible.
Q: Some guy who was walking on the ceiling today told me that he was actually walking on the floor. Is this true? Is the ceiling actually the floor?
Floor: The lower surface of a room, on which one may walk If you can walk on the ceiling, then it can be the floor. Since there would be no gravity if you're walking on the ceiling, then there would be no ceiling or floor, you're just walking on the walls.
