- Q:HOW do you take a toliet up, and fix the floor before it falls in .
- be sure to take the time to frame in the toilet
- Q:my sister in law has asked me to remove the current tile flooring in her apartment and put a hardwood floor instead. some of the tiles are cracked or pulled back or have holes and i can see that the wood sub floor also has holes but still looks sturdy...in my opinion i believe i should remove the tiles along with the sub floor but my mother in law says to remove only the tile flooring and leave the wood sub floor as is. What do you all think? and btw this is my second time doing a flooring project, though its my first with this kind, any tips? &&the hardwood sub floor is nailed down if that means anything.
- You'll need to remove the tiles and any backer board that's fastened down to the sub-floor. From that point, follow the instructions for the specific type of hardwood flooring you plan to install. Most will probably recommend an underlayment, which is typically 3/8 to 1/2 plywood or particle board, to provide a smooth, level surface for the flooring to lay on top of. The actual sub-floor is often rough and may have slight mismatches height-wise from one spot to another, and those can produce visible discontinuities (bumps, ridges, depressions, etc) on the finished floor.
- Q:like the shark pocket mop on hard wood floors.....need the help
- I don't know about that particular model, but I have hardwood flooring throughout my whole house and have a shark steam mop...one of the basic models that have been out on the market for a couple of years. I love it. It works well if you take your time. I like the fact that is leaves less moisture on the flooring than any other method I have used previously. I am happy with mine, and my daughter likes hers too. The only thing about this model is that you have to clean the corners by hand as it does not get right into the corners...no biggie for me....and it does an ok job on travertine, but great job on smoother porceline tiles I have.
- Q:Explain how the Earth’s magnetic reversals provide evidence of sea floor spreading. Please help, just this one question.I go to TLHS
- There is a ridge down the center of the pacific. You can trace it up far to the north and it makes a hard right which is something to really think about. What caused this ridge is that the pacific floor is spreading apart about four inches a year. That space becomes filled with magma from below and as it surges up from below makes this underwater mountain range. That is part of plate tectonics. The process starts when a plate is being pulled apart and an example of that would be the Rift in Africa. The next step is that area fills up with water and and example of that would be the Red Sea. The ends of the rift usually have a V formation. Put that V upside down and it is visible with the Red Sea. As long as the tectonic forces pull the plate apart, this process continues and you have the Pacific Ocean. Should the forces change, it will stop and an example of that is the lower part of the Mississippi River. . .down where it is called Ol' Man River. The upper part of the Mississippi is from water drainage. At some point the pressure on the our plate stopped and the it just turned into our drainage system in the US. Makes you go back to that underwater mountain range and make you wonder what happen that those mountains at the end of the chain are going in a different direction and how does that relate to the Mississippi. Plate tectonic are really interesting to me. Having lived in Missouri for some time. There is a line across the southern part of the state and huge sink holes open up. I asked that question in geology and everyone shrugged their shoulders. But couldn't that be the V I talked about. I had a friend with a farm down there and it's on this invisible line. They took me over to their neighbors to see this large hole. Their barn and a great deal of acreage had just disappeared down this hole. Interesting stuff. . .hope this helps.
- Q:helpppppppppppp!!!!! Floor problem a1, a4, a7, a10
- The floor function just means to take the greatest integer less than or equal to the number inside. Therefore: a(0) = [0/4]*4 = 0*4 = 0 a(1) = [1/4]*4 = 0*4 = 0 ... a(4) = [4/4]*4 = 1*4 = 4 ... a(7) = [7/4]*4 = 1*4 = 4 ... a(10) = [10/4]*4 = 2*4 = 8
- Q:I have Brazilian Walnut flooring throughout my downstairs. I have used every wood cleaning product known to man and still have dull floors. The latest thing I did was apply amonia to strip the floor of all of the products I have used and WOW what a mistake! I can now see splatters and scrub marks all over. Can someone please offer any advise??
- The floor may be dull from the different products used on it. You may consider hiring a hardwood floor contractor to buff and recoat the floor. This is a very simple process that usually runs $1 per square foot and takes only about 1-2 hours to do. This will remove some surface scratches and bring back the shine for a fraction of the cost of a full sand and refinish. It involves very little mess. Then after you have the floors recoated use Bona hardwood floor cleaner. they even make a spray mop similar to the wet swiffer.
- Q:Decorate the house. Apply paint with the glue, spread to the tiles, dry for a long time, how can not go, who can think of ways more
- Glue is the best way to clean alcohol, the work I often use glue, if there is no glue on the sticky place, with alcohol first wet glue the site, soak for about a minute, and then use your fingers Or other slightly hard things will be large pieces of plastic ticked, and then a small piece of cloth dipped in alcohol can be wiped. Alcohol is usually used in medicine for 95%.
- Q:I am considering buying a home Illinois. Unfortunately my price range is small; however there is a home my girlfriend and I love. The floors are slanted because the foundation has sunk because it’s a 100 or more year old home. Is there a way to fix the floors by adding more plywood or something to the lower part of the floor?
- The first thing to do is figure out the amount the floors are off. If there is a place where you can run a string from the front to the back of the house put a nail in the floor wher it is high then run the string to the low end if the height is not to great then you could take 1X3 pine strapping and run it trough 16in apart and shim under to get the height you need at varies points till you get to the high point. Keep in mind that you may have to add to the top of a doorway sadle and cut the door with the process. If the difference is more then 1 to 2 inches then I would have the low end jacked to get closer. It will take a combination if floors are to low on one end. Doing both on really unlevel floors will give you better results.
- Q:We recently replaced our carpet with Laminate Flooring. Now, I am looking for an appropriate Vacuum Cleaner? If you know of a good vacuum cleaner which works good on Laminate flooring and does not damage the floor, please let me know. Thanks for your time.
- No upright vac using a rotating brush should be used on laminate flooring. You should check out a small, vacuum only, tank model that will come with a hose and floor brush with bristles to pick up the dirt. Try to find one with horsehair bristles on the floor brush, they last longer and won't ever scratch anything. Eureka makes several models as well as Hoover, in the avg. priced market. Filter Queen and Electrolux make better quality models in the higher price range.
- Q:How long is the use of wood flooring?
- Generally about five years, if the point of love, then seven or eight years should be able to.
