Q: I want to do my floor. It is a old wood floor, not in good condition. Ok this is what I want to do. First I want to use compound and fill in the cracks between the boards. Then I want to sand it all to smooth it out. Then I would like to Stain the floor a dark brown, and then seal it. Question is. Will this work for my floor? And of so please add tips and/or comments. All is welcome.
I wouldn't recommend filling the cracks before you stain it, because whatever you use will be a different shade then the wood. Although I have heard of a product called Stain Putty a powder that mixes with stain to use at the same time you are staining the wood. I haven't used this product but from what I read it seems like the only option besides waiting untill after you poly'd the floor and then using wood putty.
Q: How to quickly remove the glue on the floor
1, with a paper towel dip some alcohol (preferably with industrial alcohol, do not use the medical also make do) wipe, and then rub a few times on the clean. 2, with acetone. The method is the same as above. With the amount of small and thorough, the best is that it can very quickly and easily remove the residual gum, better than the sprinkler. These two are the solvent, but also all the methods, the best results. 3, with nail polish. Usage is also the same as alcohol acetone. The effect is also very good. Wash water does not require quality, good or general will do, as long as the nail polish can be washed through. 4, with hand cream. First tear the surface of the printed products, and then squeeze some of the hand cream on the top, slowly rub with a thumb, rub a while will be able to stick to the residual sticks are rubbing down. It is a little slower. Hand cream is a lipid material, its nature and glue is not compatible. In addition to glue is to use it this feature. This Article 3 and Article 4 of the Central Television is a section of the section described in the set of ridiculed Li calcium water boat scared. Material easy to find, but also very convenient, can get rid of residual glue. 5, with banana water. Is used to remove the paint of an industrial agent, it is easy to buy (selling paint where there is to sell). The method also comes with alcohol acetone one
Q: Is this a necessity? Will laminate flooring become damaged over time if an underlayment isn't used? The previous owner of this home installed a wood floor in the living room without an underlayment so if I want to use a flat transition between this floor and the floor I'm going to put in the next room I'll have to leave it out to keep the floors level. If I chose a cheap foam underlayment how thick will it be? Thanks.
by laminate i assume you mean an interlocking pre- finished wood or wood composite flooring. underlayment ( vapor barrier) is nearly always used when applying the flooring over a concrete slab surface. not so much as when it is applied on an elevated floor ( raised foundation) The purpose of the underlayment (which is usually plastic or foam) is to keep moisture (from Below) from permeating the flooring causing warpage and damage over time. any good floor installer will use an underlayment regardless. if your problem is with underlayment thickness at the very least you should lay down heavy gauge plastic as your vapor barrier. the foam underlayment is also effective , but was primarily designed for a quieter walking surface. hope this helps
Q: we had a floating floor put down...after all was said and done....the floor looks like it has waffles in it...has anyone seen this? It's light oak...it's ugly and fake looking....speant 13,000 on it...or is this the way it's suppose to look?
Cant imagine spending 13k on a laminate floor. I did my frontroom last year and I believe I spent like $300 total on the flooring and padding. It took 1 day to do. Is your house like 25k square feet or something? Anyhow, no idea what flooring you picked out, not too sure how you would not have an idea how it would look when done, the planks are large enough to get the idea.
Q: Hello,I was looking forward to painting the garage door over the winter vacation, because it keeps peeling and cracking. However, I was wondering how I should paint the floor this time because the last time i did, the paint peeled very quickly. Also, is the temperature too cold to paint? (i am ok painting in freezing temperatures, however will it kill the paint?)Thanks
If you use paint its going to peel. The epoxy coating (sold at home depot / lowes) will work great but i think the floor has to be above 50 degrees or so. Check with manufacturer.
Q: I only go to my dance studio three times a week but i need a floor to practice on that is in mine or my friends home. is wood floor or linoleum fine? I'm afraid carpet will ruin my jazz shoes. please answer as quick as you can. thanks ~ XOXO Jani
Wood floor works well, but I don't recommend practicing jumps on it unless the floor has been sprung.
Q: - to the whole ,,, the best not only the beginning. - I search a bit, the site of the floor to induce the small Ding shares Ding Ji Ding Ding Ding stabbed inside the puzzle there are "5" the number ... ... - Will the 8K or 4K inside there are no "5" this
L6: L7: L8: L9: try this! That "5" refers to the jump in the 4K 5 is the meaning of the small keyboard is 2 down the arrow!
Q: What brands of laminate flooring in the market is durable and good with competitive pricing?
DOOOONT get Armstrong Laminate. Way too many claims and installation failures down the road. Wilsonart, Steps(uniclic) and Pergo are always good choices, simply because their construction and wear layers are much better than their competitor's. The 79 cent laminate available at building centers is tempting, but will de-laminate and buckle with ANY moisture contact. The real question is, are you doing a fix-and-flip or do you want to stay in the home for a while. You get what you pay for.
Q: broken pipe in slab flooring
Go with the union compression I know their more expensive
Q: I work at a museum and we have terrazzo floor and marble floor in the lobby. The ice melt salt gets tracked in off peoples shoes and when we mop the floor with plain hot water it leaves behind a white chalky residue on the floor. Even when we change the water frequently. is there any floor cleaner or anything that we can mop the floor with that will not leave behind a chalky residue from the winter ice melt salt??
Club Soda, buy the cheapest brand you can find
