Q:Hi everyone. I have a problem with my carpets. I recently bought a very nice, thin carpet. It is very detailed, thus it doesn't stay quot;flatquot;. It likes to move around and bulge. I have placed this carpet on another thick carpet. Now I need ideas to keep or stick my thin carpet on top of the thick one without damaging both of them. I dont want to glue or nail stuff done. Something quick and simple. Thanks everyone.: It likes to move around and bulge What you need is a carpet/rug non-slip gripper pad. You can find these in most department stores and Home Depot and Lowe's. It is a netting material you lay down under the rug. It will stop the rug from slipping. It comes in different sizes that can be trimmed to fit.

Q:I just recently moved into an apartment that is all carpet. Wanted to know if there is any sort of temporary hardwood (or anything similar) floors, I can install over the carpet, since I am renting and cant rip out the carpets: no.. it needs to be on the bare floor

Ask them for plastic to go over carpet that will stick and stay there. Not temp stuff for walking, either. Also look at Office depot and such. The things that you put on carpet for chairs to roll on might be a great idea. Also, you may wanna get a cat scratch post to put by the door?

Q:i have a extra room in my house that used to be a lil girls room. the carpet is sort of a reddish pinkish color. i dont have a girl anymore and would like to turn the room into a play room for my son. can i dye the carpet? if so wat colors could i change it to and where could i get the dye?: The easiest and surest way to change the color is to change the carpet. If the present carpet is nylon, there is no way to dye it evenly. Go to commercial carpet installer house and purchase an end run from a job of a color that works for you...you will spend far less money doing this than trying to dye a carpet that will make a mess. Choose level loop commercial carpet....will never wear out under residential use.

Q:Great landlord. Don't want to damage beautiful floors. Need to have rug lay flat. In living room. Carpet is thin. needs padding: A true pad won t really work since it ll bunch up,make it to thick and cause a tripping hazard.. What you should use is a special mat made just for rugs over hardwood. This type allows the rug to stay it place w/o slipping and bunch up, allows the wood to properly breathe and not stain the wood . These are bought any where wood and flooring are sold, just get the kind made for rugs over wood. Since you know your rug size you can get the closest size to your rug. You can even cut these and trim them to fit so the whole rug is covered from below. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL

Q:I spilled liquid laundry soap on the floor yesterday. I cleaned it with a wet vac and I thought it went away. Today when I woke up it stained the carpet. I've been rinsing it all day with just water and sucking it up with the wet vac. How can I get this stain to go away. Please help very desperate.: Laundry Detergent shouldn't stain a carpet as it is a type of soap that can be used to remove stains from carpets, haha. If rinsing with water again and again isn't working, you might want to try a stain remover. Are you sure you have removed all the detergent from the carpet and the stain you are seeing isn't just the dried detergent left in the carpet?

Q:The previous owner of my home put up walls for separate rooms OVER existing carpet in the basement. He/she did not install baseboard along the new walls. I'm planning on replacing the carpet in the basement as well as installing baseboard along the walls. What should I do first? The carpet installer is going to have to cut the carpet from underneathe the walls in order to replace it. Should I wait until after the new carpet is installed or can I go ahead and put the new baseboard in regardless?: You ll have to cut the carpet out and put the base on. Depending in what carpet you put in , the normal distance to leave the base up it just the thick ness of a normal base. Unless you have thin carpet and thick base use a few pcs of scrape.. Doing this will also stop the tracking and sawdust you ll track in on new carpet putting it in.. A couple of draw backs , but its minor.. Newly painted base, the paint isn t cured and can be easily scratched up from the carpet backing. This is hard not to do because of the backing of most carpets. If they are painted be prepared for some minor touch ups . Even care full installers it can happen.. GL

Q:What is the material of pp in carpet?: it depends on the type of the carpet, now there are a lot of plastic carpets on the market , chemical materials will be more in carpets with worse quanlity,so suggest to buy carpet with a better quality, at least it guarantees the quality, in addition to the polypropylene mentioned above (also have PVC, PVC, plastic and rubber)
