- Q: I have a Chinese rug and the pile is flat. Is there any way I can improve it.
- MANY years ago I worked for Harrahs Hotel/Casino WHEN the carpet went FLAT they had us RAKE the carpet with a leave rake. Sounds weird but it works. I have always vaccumed then RAKED mine with a plastic rake I keep for INhouse only use.

- Most rugs which are designed especially for use in the bathroom are quite plain, and are either made of cotton or chenille. The reason for this is that these types of rugs are far less susceptible to water damage than something like wool, and are more suitable for use in a bathroom. * Quality. A good quality rug will have strong edges that can withstand the high traffic area that is your kitchen. Kitchen rugs go through quite a bit even on a daily basis and the edges tend to get the brunt of everything. - Q: how do you make a rug?
- Depends on what kind of rug you want. You can go to a carpet store to buy a remnant, then purchase an easy finishing edge cording so it doesn't get ratty edges. Or you can do some quilting and attach it to a straw or rubber type mat. Try googling DIY Rugs and look at all the different types you can make and what the materials would cost. There are so many choices!
- Q: Does anyone know anything about Indo Bijar rugs. I bought a 6x9 Indo Bijar rug today for next to nothing and am curious about its value. It has a tag on it from a profesional rug repair shop in Dallas ( the tag just says indo bijar 6x9 clean and replace fringe) It's in great shape and was hoping to resell at our yardsale but not sure about the value. I found two similar rugs on Craigs list, one was $4,000 and the other was for $600.

- Q: Are rugs supposed to more or less engulf a room and be under the legs of your furniture (in our case that would be the 8X10), or are they used more as accents rugs in front of couches and chairs, not actually touching the furniture but filling the empty space....hence the 5X8?Or are there no rules and anything goes in the world of rugs?Also, any suggestions for selecting a pattern are welcome. Our chairs are neutral, but the couch has a strong leaf with some floral pattern to it, and in addition to struggling with size and colors to match it, we're also having problems with pattern on pattern. I suppose the safest thing to do would be just to forget rugs, since we seem to be challenged in this area - but the floor desperately needs something and the room needs a punch of color to balance it. - The rugs should be under the legs of accent pieces like kitchen tables or accent-end table. I'm not sure if the rule extends to the larger pieces.

- ya, it holds dirt and mites. Go for a laminate floor like Pergo and some washable area rugs! Laminate cleans with a mop, doesnt hold stains or odors, doesnt scratch and looks like rel wood. I love mine.
