- Q: garden and home
- It really depends on why you want it divided. I'm going to assume it's for some sort of repair. I would use 6MIL plastic sheeting. It's strong enough to hang for a great distance and much tougher to penetrate, by accident, than thinner MIL sheeting. You can find it in various lengths and widths at Home Depot or Lowes. Be sure to get enough so that it covers the distances from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. If you need to have an entry/exit in it for access, be sure to overlap by approximately three feet, at least two feet. Hope this helps.
- Q: I had an old, old version of the Better Homes and Gardens white and red checkered cookbook. I used to make an old Corn Chowder Recipe. Any one have it? or know where to get it? We're talking 50's or 60's. I can recall some of the ingredients: Brown Onions and bacon, add cubed potatoes and water. Corn, milk, bay leaf, can't remember anything else. I adapted it by putting in pieces of cooked chicken breast meat and tomato paste. Any one????
- This sounds weird
- Q: How do I plant a delicious Herb garden? I’d like to pick home-grown herbs for my daily salad.
- Hey okorder /
- Q: I'm looking to buy Landscape Design software for DIY projects. I'm reading good things about Better Homes and Garden Home Design Suite and Punch! softwares. Anyone used them or have any recommendations for either, both, or something else?
- Most of the software available, including Better Homes and Garden Suite, is tricky to use and really leaves you without any real plan. Honestly, I would recommend using good old fashioned pencil and paper to come up with your initial design. Or perhaps try the free Sketch-up software from Google. Just search for Google Sketch Up. Another idea might be to call your local community college and see if one of their design students might put something together for free as a resume' builder or perhaps a class project. Also, many nurseries will put together a professional design for free if you buy the plants from them. Hope that helps!
- Q: I am looking for a specific recipe. I bought the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Cookie Magazine last year (2010). But I have recently lost it. Anyone know what the one recipe was? It was either a pumpkin cake or pumpkin bars that called for cream cheese icing in the end. I haven't found any other recipe that lived up to this one. Can anyone help me? I need it for Thanksgiving!
- Better Homes Gardens Autumn Pumpkin Bars Makes: 36 servings 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 4 eggs, lightly beaten 1 15 ounce can pumpkin 1 cup vegetable oil 2 1/2 cups Cream Cheese Frosting or canned cream cheese frosting Ground cinnamon Chopped, toasted pecans or walnuts (optional) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Stir in eggs, pumpkin, and oil until combined. Pour batter into an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan, spreading evenly. 2. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. 3. Spread uncut bars with Cream Cheese Frosting. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon and, if desired, nuts. Cut into bars. Tightly cover bars in pan and chill overnight. 4. Tote bars in pan in an insulated cooler with ice packs. From the Test Kitchen Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients 2 3 ounce packages cream cheese, softened 1/3 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla 4 1/2 - 5 cups powdered sugar Directions In a large bowl combine cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar to make a frosting of spreading consistency.
- Q: I was wondering if they get thrown away and if they could be bought for pennies on the dollar
- I have a friend who works for Burpee. They maintain their own displays in the major stores, and they took old seed and destroyed it. Until this year; now they are donating it to groups that grow food for food banks. Some seeds last for many years, and some do not. Your home garden takes a lot of effort, and the space is valuable. I don't suggest wasting time on bad seeds. At least find out which seeds are likely to last a long time. The off brand seeds you find at the dollar store aren't worth the envelope they are in. At least not for vegetables. You are going to spend many hours raising the plants, then find that they produce inferior vegetables. If you are really interested in cheap seeds, learn to save seeds and maintain quality plant genetics.
- Q: Me and my wife just finished moving in to our first home and we want to have a vegetable garden next Summer. Problem is we both know absolutely NOTHING about gardening. Neither of us ever did any growing up, nor did our parents really do much either.I was hoping the community here could give some good tips to help us get started. We a do not have a ton of space, probably from a rough estimate I did a minute ago 12x50 at the max and that would need to include walking space since most of it is our side yard. We also live in Ohio so winter will need to be accounted for. If possible we would really like to do tomatoes and I have heard we may be able to grow them off the side of our garage saving us some space, and zucchinis would also be nice! Outside those we are open to any suggestions.Anyways if anyone has helpful websites, step by step guides, general tips, advice on fertilizers or pesticides to use/not use all of it is appreciated, since as I said we are completely ignorant on this subject!
- My suggestion for first timers would be a no-dig garden. You should be able to find something on this via a search engine. Basically you build up layers of soil, manure and organic matter, and plant your seedlings into the top layer of soil, through a layer of mulch.
- Q: I live in an urbanized area so I have a very limited space for backyard gardening. I want to have an access to vegetables that are safe and nutritious, meaning 100% free from chemicals. What can I do? What vegetables can I start growing? Useful links will be appreciated. Thanks! :)
- Buy some plant food, ask the Nursery staff what to get. There are all different types. And ask how often you should be feeding and watering the plants. SO once you are all organised get home, plant and wait for everything to grow. It sounds like a lot, but I find it fun and relaxing and so rewarding! Make sure you keep an eye on your plants. Don't forget about them. If they start to not look like they are going that well (e.g. going a funny colour, getting spots, being eaten by something) try and research what is causing this problem on google or at your nursey and you will be about to find a solution. Herbs are a great way to start! Tomatoes and things like spring onions and silverbeet are easy to grow, give them a shot! Good luck :)
- Q: Does anyone know of any other parties like Mary Kay, Sex Parties, Home and Garden etc

- Q: what are the top 10 stores for shopping for home and garden in the US?
- Lowes, Home Depot and garden centers that you see along some of the main roads in your area. We have one called Arbor. Wal Mart has a lot of things.
