- Q: My yard is sandy, and even struggles growing grass. However I am tired of the pure ugliness, I want to grow a garden, However with the poor growing conditions I need the name of flowers and plants that would grow easy, in sandy dirt, and less sunshine. Any names of plants and flowers.
- I'm pretty sure that cati/cactus will grow in sandy areas and most of them bloom during the year. You can also try putting in a raised platform and putting dirt in it to grow a bigger assortment of flowers plants. If you live in a generally sandy area, you should be able to go to your local home garden center and ask them for recommendations. They always seem to know whats best for your area! Good Luck! P.S. Rock gardens are always an option as well. And they require very little maintenance.
- Q: My grandmother updated her cookbook and passed on to my mother but the old recipe is not in any of the versions we currently have. If anyone has an old copy or the recipe it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- Here is the recipe from my B H G Cookbook that I got in 7th grade cooking class. That would have been about 1950. I hope this is the recipe you are looking for. It sounds delicious. STUFFED ZUCCHINI SQUASH - BETTER HOMES GARDENS 6 medium zucchini 3 cups soft bread crumbs 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 small onion, minced 3 tablespoons minced parsley 1 teaspoon salt Dash pepper 2 beaten eggs 2 tablespoons butter or margarine Wash zucchini, cut off ends; don't peel. Cook in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Halve them lengthwise, remove pulp with spoon. Combine pulp with bread crumbs, cheese, onion, parsley, salt, pepper and eggs. Fill zucchini shells. Dot with butter; sprinkle with more cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
- Q: I'm moving into a new home soon with a lot of painting projects and I seem to be stuck on the home office. I'm a fan of Feng Shui and believe that certain colors and elements should be incorporated in every room by reason. I'm not a big fan of clutter and like to keep things minimal and clean. Since it is going to be a home office, I'd like to stray away from heavy colors that can make you feel relaxed or sleepy. Can someone give me some ideas on what colors and elements you think I should incorporate in this room?
- Brown it's a great color and isn't distracting
- Q: Has anyone been to the National home gardening club website? If you are interested in gardening they have a great and forum, gardening ideas and more. - Q: For a historical short story I'm writing I need this information. Thanks.
- Home life was relatively untouched - unlike WW2. During WW 1 there were no bombing raids, nor rockets launched. The main effect was that so many of the ablebodied men were in the armed forces, or in the navy, There were shortages, but more people at that time had home gardens, kept chickens etc, so the shortages weren't anywhere near as severe as during WW2.
