- Q: If i reduced considerably the size of the hose of a vacuum cleaner say by 4, is the suction power goin to increase by 4? Since pressure is equal to force/area. im trying to make my vacuum cleaner ultra powerful. thank you.
- No it will not increase. The velocity at the nozzle will increase but lifting power will not, it will pick up small objects better but not larger ones. The danger is that most vacuum cleaners rely on the flow of air through the motor to cool it, when you reduce this by restricting the nozzle you may overheat and burn out the motor !
- Q: Since the Vacuum Cleaner was the staple household appliance for the 1950's housewife,and woman are still targeted as the wider market for vacuum sales e.g woman are used to advertise them. - Q: Our vacuum cleaner brush roller is not working. My husband has already tried to fix it himself, but he can't find out what's wrong. We've already replaced the belts and the brush roller doesn't seem to be worn down or missing any pieces. Does anyone have any idea how much it might cost to get it fixed if I take it into a vacuum repair shop? The vacuum is only a year old and everything else works fine, the roller just isn't rolling.
- This may sound silly, but it happened to me. Our vacuum brush roller stopped working, too. Turned out that the sliding switch that gave the bare floor/carpet option wasn't fully engaged. If you have a switch like that, check it. Also, if you still have the manual for it you may want to check under the troubleshooting section or look on their website. At any rate, I take my vacuum cleaners to Sears for repairs. It usually runs me $60.00 - $80.00, depending on the problem. You may want to shop around. Ask people in your area who they go to. Sears is more expensive, but they're reputable and stand behind their work. Hope this helps!
- Q: Here is the thing I know ALL dry vacuums (bag or filtered) loose air flow and never loose suction. What I noticed with dyson is, the quot;never loose suctionis more a copy right than technology patent. Why any vacuum company cannot claim no lose off air flow? Which what does the cleaning, not suction. the little shark vacuum (shaped like a football) never looses suction too. So can you show me a vacuum that looses suction?
- Yes I can! Eureka is number one, Hoover is the other. Both of mine lost both air flow and suction. Along with that they lost their light, their wheels, the brushes on the beater bar, and anything else attached to them. I would like to say they sucked, but that was the first thing they lost! Trash.

- In Point: The Infinity is no where as efficient as a Dyson (DC17), and will not deep clean as well as the new Dyson. The Dyson (DC17), coupled with its new filtration system and aggressive brushroll specifically designed for American carpets will deep clean better than most vacuums under $1000, as well as the previous Dysons on the market (My older DC14 left alot of filth in my carpet that my DC17 vacuumed up....mostly sand and dust).
- Q: Honest, Himself just purchased a new vacuum we are told one of the attachments was used in the 1940s for nit picking.Have you ever heard of a nit picking attachment being put on vacuum cleaners in the past? If you were to gain some nits would you be inclined to use a vacuum to remove them? Why or why not.Oh in case you were wondering I don't catch nits. I know this because back in the day I had work that involved louse removal from humans I never, ever caught any. Apparently I am immune.
- Personally, I've never heard of a system like that. When I had nits, we had to use a type of shampoo and a nit comb every day.
- Q: If you have an Oreck vacuum, could you give me some feedback please? My biggest cleaning problem right now is cats. We've gotten rid of all our carpets - vinyl or laminate floors only, which has eliminated all the pet odors. But it is still hard to get rid of all the pet hair (etc) that builds up on all their favorite bedding or couches.I've got my eye on the 1400 Series canister vacuum ($899! What am I thinking??!?!) But if it does what it claims, I think this would be worth it.I appreciate any feedback based on your experience with Oreck products. Thanks!
- i wasnt impressed, i just bought a new vac, at walmart, hang on ill get the name Bissle power track, it was less than a hundred dollars, it sucks up the hair from three cats, it has a filter before the motor and a hepa filter on the exhaust, the replacment for both is ten bucks per package, you can wash out the foam filter that catches dust before it goes through the motor , i do that every time i use it, wash the foam filter and dirt cup out, good sized dirt cup , no bags, several height settings, onboard tools, rotating brush on the floor and one on the hose for your upholstry, im sold on it.

- washing machine. but as we live in the present there are so many other things that women do that are made simpler by other things. imagine what it would be like without a vacuum and you needed to clean a carpet... i'd still say washing machine

- there all the same and dont clean very good go with a Dyson
- Q: I am slow to put my sweaters away for the summer and out of the way of moths. It's possible a moth already found them and layed her eggs on them. I shook them all outside carefully, have placed them in a zipper bag and will add some mothballs. Will that kill the eggs that might be in there???P.S. I am not going to wash them all because some were washed and others are not soiled.
- moth balls stink. cedar chips work well and smell a lot better
