- Q: i turn it on,it emits this stink like warm spoiled cheese. i never used it for anything other than my carpet,and i never used it to clean anything wet. and the machine isn't even a year old yet. i purchased it brand new.
- You need to change the bag and filters if it has a dirt cup. Other wise you need to use best quality vacuum cleaners...... :)
- Q: Hi there,I know that a lot of bagless vacuums are sold as quot;Cyclonicquot;, but I remember hearing somewhere that only Dysons actually remove all the dirt from the air by cyclonic action, whilst the rest also rely on filters. Is it true that other companies can not (due to patents, etc.) make vacuum cleaners that work in exactly the same way as a dyson, or is it just an urban myth created by clever marketing on the part of dyson?If anyone (in the UK) has a vacuum they think is comparable to a dyson, I'd love to hear about it, cheers.
- I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I love it! It does a great job. I have kids, pets, and a husband who works construction, and it gets up all their dirt/dust/hair/etc... The suction is great and it has a switch to turn the beater bar off so you can use it on any hard floor surface. It's not bagless, but I had a bagless before, and I would never have another one again. It's very reasonably priced and I can't see how a Dyson could outclean it. Hope this helps. Good luck!

- Well, amongst folks with animals, the Dyson is the favorite. We had the supposedly top-rated (by Consumer Reports) Hoover Windtunnel upright prior to our Dyson (which Consumer Reports has no use for). There is no comparison. I have to empty the Dyson at least three times every time we vacuum our 1400 sf house. I could go a month without replacing the bag on the Hoover. Plus, Dysons don't catch fire. I've seen ads for other makes showing their models picking up ball bearings and all kinds of stuff. Next time I need to pick up hundreds of marble-sized steel ball bearings, I'll buy it.

- Are you cleaning carpet or hard surface floors? Based on my experience an up right cleaner is best for carpet, and a canister for hard surface floors. And, in either case to manage pet hair consider a bag-less cleaner. This allows you to clean the receptacle frequently and maintain good suction. Another pointer, to clean on the first pass, push slowly. This seems to be a big help with pet hair on carpet. My hoover windtunnel has stood up well to the challenge of multiple, hair-manufacturing pets. I also use and love the iRobot as a supplement cleaner. I have a programmable version and it runs every night through the main living areas of my home, both carpet and hard surfaces. This has been a god send and improved my relationships with my dog and cats. And, by the way, the best prices for both of these are likely through Costco, on line or in-store.
