- Q:We are cleaning the whole house with Rug Doctor because we are selling the house.I have two questions:Can I put back furniture on the wet carpet? I don't really mind about the furniture, its kinda old. Like wood 3 beds, chairs.I don't have any other places to put the furniture. Can I stay in the room? I have my study table and computer.
- Hey...hey! I am a flooring associate from The Home Depot, and I feel like I've used Rug Doctor in my own place as much as renting them out when I worked in Tool Rental at my store. Using a Rug Doctor is great for your carpets but the carpet tends to dry out using it after 48 hours or so after using it. For your first question, you can put the furniture back in PROVIDED they don't come into much contact with the carpet. For example, I put my queen sized bed back in my room after cleaning it with a Rug Doctor since only 4 posts touched the carpeted floor. If you have a chance to grab a small throw mat or a bit of plastic sheeting, it would be good too for staying in the room. And here's a tip, be barefoot on the carpet during when it is wet. Keep the shoes and sandals outside or in another room, since wet carpet will attract any dirt under your shoes. You should be fine in staying in the room, provided you give places like under the study table and bed proper ventilation to let the carpet fibers dry out properly. If not, you'll have the water/cleaner mixture sour, and leaving a bad smell. To eliminate this, I'd strongly suggest putting in a box or table fan on the floor or even renting out a floor fan. They look like a large whistle, and they put out a lot of air, thereby reducing drying time for your carpets. Hope this helps out you, aboveaveragejoe
- Q:I have these holes in my carpet in multiple places (dog). To replace it, I was going to use the carpet in the closet. How do I do that (step by step instructions)? Where can I find carpet remenants?
- Take a utility knife and cut out a piece of carpet large enough to cover the hole from the closet. Be careful not to cut out the padding underneath unless you need it where the doggie made the holes. Place the carpet plug over the hole making certain it meets the remaining carpet. You can secure the plug using a hot glue gun or running double sided carpet tape around the edges. Now use your fingernails to blend the fibers on the plug into the fibers of the surrounding carpet. You can find carpet remnants at almost any carpet store, just ask. Also for larger remnants they sell end rolls at the Home Depot and Lowes.
- Q:A large area of office carpet was blisters, what good method can quickly dry and mildew?
- The carpet will be opened, with a blower to dry.
- Q:The canister filter on (specifically, directly under) my 55 gallon sprung a leak, and in total has leaked 20+ gallons of nitrate-laden water onto the carpet around the stand. The canister is undergoing repairs ATM but the carpet is still soaked. Will I have to break down the aquarium and pull up the carpet, or can I keep mold from growing another way? Also, the canister was removed and will not be back up for at least a day, so how long can I keep my fish in there without an ammonia spike?
- Assuming the carpet does not have a separate foam underlayment, rent or buy a high end wet/dry shop vac and vacuum the carpet repeatedly to remove the maximum amount of water. Shampoo the carpet to remove / neutralize the nitrates, then vacuum thoroughly again. Use a fan-type electric heater to blow warm air over the surface of the carpet continuously. Keep the room well-ventilated. If you can, remove the baseboards and use the vacuum to suck out all the water you can then reverse the hose on the vacuum and blow warm air all along the baseboard. If you can get the carpet thoroughly dry within 48 hours, you're unlikely to develop a mold problem. If however, there is a separate foam underlayment, your only option is to lift the carpet and dry or replace the underlay.
- Q:When my carpets are cleaned at first, they are perfectly clean and I have a friend who owns a carpet company who doesn't just steam clean the carpets. After a few months, the same stains seem to re-emerge from where they were before as if they were cleaned on the surface but re-surfaced.I have 2 cats where I have cleaned hairballs, and a lot of throwing up, and I think that's what the stains are from. I use the MIracle stuff for cat stains/odors and it seems to work at first, but again they come up especially in the hallway upstairs. The rest of my my carpets are not bad, even after a year. I take good care of them and keep them as clean as possible but these round stains in various places make it look really bad! How can I make them go away permanently. I'm tired of hiring expensive carpet cleaners where they look great for a month or so; then these same spots seem to come back plus additional hairballs which I try to catch as soon as I can.Thanks.
- what method do you actually use to clean your carpets? since the same spots are resurfacing and thats the area where your cats are then i bet you need to have the actually padding replaced there and probably the carpet as well. you dont want to ever let a pet get too comfortable in one area. they are attracted to their own smell. have that padding/carpet replaced and cleaned. and every so often rotate their area so they arent used to just one area. i know it may not be the best budget wise but with pets having carpet is the worst. tile is much better.
- Q:The carpet stains to clean
- Coffee stains, tea stains using ammonia scrubbing. Silk and wool carpet, washed with oxalic acid detergent, 10-20 minutes after the wash, or 10% glycerin solution cleaning.
- Q:i took my carpet there was carpet underneath it looks pretty good but . but how do i get the glue marks off any suggestions
- I don't quite understand--they glued carpet TO carpet? That's the laziest thing I've ever heard. Carpet adhesive can't be removed from carpeting, you have to tear it all out and replace it. Keep going and see if you hit hardwood floors, much better looking.
- Q:How to do if the carpet shed hair?
- Some of the quality of the carpet after the hair did not do it more to do with a vacuum cleaner to clean or with a hand brush hair device to deal with the bedroom to use the blanket off the dust with the air to enter the respiratory system air to create a health hazard
- Q:i have a shag rug in my living room and my puppy has urinated on it. My husband has done everything under the sun to get the smell out. Is there a certain way to clean the rug, a gentle way? I dont want to ruin it or have it come apart. So any help would be greatly appriciate it!!! Thanks!
- Hand Tufted rugs are hand made by skilled artisans. Weavers loop wool through a primary backing. A natural latex adhesive is then applied to the back of the rug to secure the wool loops, and a secondary coating is added for finishing. Although the process of manufacturing Hand Tufted rugs is shorter than that of a Hand Knotted rug, each rug remains a unique, handmade work of art.
- Q:very dirty small children juice spills food spills please help!!!
- Use good quality rug steam cleaning machines for best cleaning results. Rug cleaners with steam cleaning advantages are the best cleaning equipment for rug cleaning applications.
