- Q: My friend knocked over her beer on my rug and didn't tell me until the morning after... it smells pretty bad. Any suggestions how to get rid of it quickly and permanently? I don't have many tools to use but i can run to a drug store if i need to.
- Pick up as much beer as possible with paper towels. Use a solution of diluted vinegar. About 2-4ounces in a quart should do it. If the smell persists make the solution stronger. Pour the solution on the beer spill area and allow it to soak for a couple of minutes. Then dry the area as best as possible with paper towels. Place a fan on the rug at the spill and allow it to run until the it is dry. Check for the beer of beer and repeat if needed. You may want to use a carpet deodorizer from the cleaning section of the drug store after doing the above procedure. Soaking up as much of the beer and drying the rug is key to keeping the beer smell to a minimum.
- Q: I have a very large area rug. It has lots of browns blacks. I want to lighten it sum how dye a medium-dark blue. But I may have to dye black. I like the rug it just doesn't go with my sons room decor. Please Help. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
- Hi There is two ways to remove wax from carpet. 1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting because most homes have polyester carpet, and if the iron gets too hot, it'll melt the carpet. Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the carpet. 2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the carpet at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years

- Hey, U.P., what's up? Sometimes we just have to be proud of the fact that even three and four year olds can use computers these days. Other times, we need to figure out how to invent a childproof locking keyboard. I mean we keep 'em out of aspirin bottles and there are trigger locks for guns. I know the computers have anti-child settings, but those are software solutions. We need a physical lock for our keyboards!
- Q: hi!i just got a new carpet about 2 weeks ago.i have to vacuum every single day.little balls of the carpet like shed, and they are everywhere!is there anyway to stop this from happening?and will it stop eventually?thanks.
- Hi, okorder /
- Q: This rug has been in my room for at least ten years and it has never been cleaned. I don't have access to expensive supplies so I'll need to know how to do it myself with out steam `cleaners or anything else... I have heard of using oxyclean which I do have but I'd need instuctions. (this rug is VERY large... 10' by 13'). Thank youDanielle
- For a rug this large, I suggest using either a foaming cleaner, like Woolite Spray Foam Carpet cleaner or a dry granule cleaner like Capture or Resolve. The both types of cleaners are a simple application. Just spray on the foam, agitate with a brush to work into the fibers, allow to dry and vacuum up. Dry granule, sprinkle on surface and work into the fiber with a brush and let dry, then vacuum. If you have spots or stains, just work either into it with a brush. I like the Woolite because it also contains a scotch guard that leaves a stain repellent and makes cleaning up spills easier without staining.
- Q: I purchased this large rug at IKEA, I think its made of wooven cotton, but Im not sure (it doesnt have the tag anymore). Its really dirty, but I'm not able to put it in the laundry machine, its to big.The rug is this light cream color, so stains are very visible. Its got this weird stains, but they are made of dirt ,not of another substance. I already tried cleaning with the vacuum, but it doesnt remove them, the rug still looks dirty. Any ideas on how to clean it?

- Q: Hello, last night my dumb boyfriend spilt curry all over my sheepskin rug-tried cleaning with carpet cleaner but its not really taken out the stain. Should I take it to the laundrette? Dry clean? Please help!
- No take your dumb boyfriend to the cleaners you wont get a curry stain out of a sheepskin rug although you could try bleaching it if it hasn't gone down too deep into the wool Try Hydrogen Peroxide from your chemist shop. if that won't shift it you need a new one sorry
- Q: Right now, I have wood flooring in my house built in the 1930s. Is there a chance that there could be carpet under the original hardwood flooring?
- When using your carpets on the ground, use rug pillows. There is no query that a rug pad extends the life of your rug. In most situations, the best is nasty froth that will not move shade to the rug or to the ground and will provide good use security. Do not use a rubberized, jute or waffle pad. An asian rug or a handmade rug is best to use on the hardwood flooring.
- Q: hi ! i was doing my makeup and knocked over my BLUE powder eyeshadow and it went all over my white carpet. i vaccumed up what i could but its like in the carpet ! my mom will be home in a little while and i really need to get it out. i dont have shout out, and ive already tried carpet cleaner, and laundry detergent. any suggestions PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lt; 33
- Hopefully you aren't rubbing at it as this will further get the pigment into the carpet fibers. Try letting the carpet cleaner set on the stain for a little while and then blot it up with paper towels. If the color is transferring to the towels, it's working. Repeat until it is gone. If it still won't come up, tell your mom what happened when she gets home and explain you've tried cleaning and it won't work. She's a mom, so hopefully she'll know what to do. And of course, if you don't like honesty, you could always rearrange your room to cover the stain.
- Q: I have white carpet and after years of living we have accumulated many stains throughout the house. It always looks dirty! I own a carpet shampooer and use it frequently but a week later the stains resurface and it all looks yucky again. Do you have a good stain pre-treater for me? Or any other suggestions?
- Either pay someone to come and get it professionally cleaned or get a new carpet...white is a hard one, I have it too.
