Q: The basin of the faucet with marble is black: Artificial marble, the quality is relatively poor.

Q: It eventually accumulates to the point that the drain gets backed up, draino doesn't really help. We have to take the whole stopper part out and pull out the gunk. It doesn't happen in my other sinks.: A rather unpleasant answer, but here goes. What goes down your bathroom sink drain is known as "Grey Water". It consists of water (naturally), hair, soap, shampoo, dead skin, shavings and other nasty things. Your bathroom sink drain is most probably slower to empty than your actual bath, hence the "gunk" is not flushed away. To alleviate the problem, obtain caustic soda crystals, take out your plug, pour as much crystals as you can into the drain, leave overnight if possible, the water in the u-bend will be enough to start the crystals working. Rinse through with hot water in the morning, job done. NB, treat caustic soda crystals as toxic and strong alkaline, take precautions as regards eyes, hands etc, and ensure all the soda has gone before using the sink. You may have to do this more than once, but it does work.

Q: I recently renovated my upstairs bathroom and used a vanity top with a pre-attached undermount sink. The sink didnt have an overflow hole, but I didnt think that I would have a problem until my girlfriend left the water running with the drain closed!What I want to know is if it would be practical to do something like drill a hole in the sink and somehow add an outlet that would connect to the drain. Q: I noticed my bathroom sink was looking a bit gunky , so used Kiwi drain unblocker in sachets which i poured down the sink and followed the instructions. But instead of cleaning the pipe, it has blocked the sink and now the water is not draining away! I used the drain unblocker again and this morning used bleach but nothing is shifting it. How can a drain unblocker have caused the sink to block? Any advice would be appreciated.: Well, look under your sink. The area which has a twistable part,(looks like an upside down cap) twist it off and remove the gunk. But place a pail below it coz all the water will gush out. Then on the tap and rinse it for a little while. That should work. There's probably too much dirt trapped there making water unpassable.

Q: Ok I was washing my bathroom sink with some sort of cleaner and apparently it was not the right kind. Since then the sink does not drain properly (dirty water stays in it for days and days) and there are a million little hairs (from shaving) stuck in the basin. It seems it melted whatever material it is made out of (some kind of ceramic, i think). Not only is it gross and hard to use (I cant run water for very long or it will fill up) but I am also afraid what it is going to cost. Q: how do you fix a hole and crack in a Porcelain bathroom sink?: The hardware stores sell porcelain repair kits w/ instructions. But the best thing to do is replace it.
