- Q: So my bathroom sink is really clogged. There's a small pool of water in my sink that won't drain at all. I dumped boiling water down the overflow hole but that didn't do anything. I used a plunger on the hole in the sink which still didn't do anything. I've used a bent hanger w/ a hook on the end to get out stuff from it but there's nothing else getting stuck on the hanger. I don't have a snake or anything to use. Is there a way I can get the water to drain at least long enough to get drain-o. And even then, if the water doesn't drain in that time, will drain-o still get through the pipes when there's water in it. Please help me out here. Thank you so much. <3
- There are a couple of answers here, yes a liquid drain opener will sink to where the clog is since the liquid is heavier than water, but that method uses corrosive liquid and might temporarily solve the problem but may cause problems in the future. The better solution is to drain the trap under the sink. Every sink is required to have a trap, and there should be a drain plug in it. Be sure to have a pail large enough to catch the water under neath before you start to loosen the drain plug. If it is a P-trap you should be able to remove a section once it is drained and remove the plug in the sink drain and you should be able to find the cause of the clog. Good luck!
- Q: When ever i wash my hands in our bathroom, the water smells like rotten eggs. I thought the pipes are rusted out or something (old house built 1970) What should i do to make this awful smell go away? Its not clogged or anything, just the water coming out smells horrible...Im trying to stay away from having to re-pipe our bathroom sink because were renting home...thank you!
- if it is coming out with the water you need a new filter usually in a pump house if it is well water if city the filter is usually on the side of the house or under! If the smell is when the water goes down the sink try pouring peroxide down the sink that worked for me!
- Q: Under the basin of the old wet despair, the water does not overflow normal
- Stretched into the white tube inside, there is no problem.
- Q: Can the stainless steel basin be washed with detergent?
- Can, wash powder and nothing corrosive, clothes and hand contact no problem ah. It is recommended to brush a layer of detergent, half an hour after the wash, the effect is more clean.
- Q: Our house is really really clean but for some reason weve got these flying insects (really tiny) around our bathroom sink. Yesterday morning there were about 5 and I killed them all by splashing water on them. I came back later in the afternoon and there were about 20! My mom took a can of lysol and sprayed them down but there were more again at night. I think they might be fungus gnats because they seem to relish in the moisture. But how do I get rid of them? Someone suggested pouring bleach down the drain but I think this will only be another temporary solution for these pests. HELP!
- ICK! I have had those before and they are tough to get rid of. I had them in my kitchen around the sink. First I scrubbed the sink and flushed it with hot water and followed that with a cup of bleach. Then, I sat a bowl of water out with a few drops of dishwashing liquid in it. It attracted the ones that escaped from their sink lair, in about a week they were almost totally gone. Completely gone after two. Hopes this helps! P.S- to keep them at bay, make sure to keep your sink drains clear. I pour the hot water and bleach down my drain once a week.
- Q: My husband was installing our new bathroom vanity after recent flood damage and the cabinet was just a bit too wide to slide into the spot. So he decided instead of sanding the drywall down he just cut it out. Now I have a 2 inch large hole in the drywall all around the sink and the sink protrudes a bit into the drywall. Not a huge problem except that we have to put a back splash back up around the sink to replace the existing we took out and I have nothing to adhere it to. I was told to get the mesh drywall patch and joint compound and just patch it but the sink still protrudes and I have nothing to really secure the patch to. I cant pull the cabinet out either because he already hooked up the water lines/plumbing. Help!
- fill the voids with crumpled news paper, Spackle over it, in layers,
- Q: Just wanted an idea. We are looking to redo all of our bathroom countertops from tile to granite. I cant decide if I like the above the counter sinks or to place the sink below the countertop. Below is much more expensive. About $200 per cut. Anyway, any suggestions? Thank you.
- My wife and I recently remodeled our bathroom with granite tile countertops. We went with square, top mounted sinks for more of an older look. Personally, I don't like the undermounts with granite or sold surface. It's just something about the way they treat the edges and rim that takes something away from the character of the sink and makes me think of a hotel bathroom. Also, the top mounts have a more detailed edge and rim so I just think it looks a little nicer. It's all just personal preference.
- Q: What is the minimum size of the basin?
- The general size is 420mm long, 140mm deep, 12mm thick, the smallest size should be 300mm.
- Q: how do you fix a hole and crack in a Porcelain bathroom sink?
- The hardware stores sell porcelain repair kits w/ instructions. But the best thing to do is replace it.
- Q: What is the best way to clear a clog bathroom sink drain?
- The best products out there are draino or lye. They will stain the brass. If the other methods listed here don't work, just use them and buy a can of Brasso. This will restore the brass to original color and leave a coating on it prevent discoloration in the future. Or turn water supply off and go under the sink cabinet. Remove the link between pipes and pour draino or lye into it that way. Wear eyesplash protection always.
