- what type of bathroom sink? pedestal - mount the basin on the wall at the appropriate height with lag screws, attach plumbing, and slide pedestal in place to hide plumbing marble/composite one piece - latex adhesive caulking on the top edge of cabinet, caulk to wall, attach plumbing in the proper location, it will also help hold it in place cast cowl type (ceramic) set in existing countertop with hole - adhesive tub and tile caulk, let dry before attaching plumbing porcelain bowl - use swing-style sink clamps provided (just like your kitchen stainless sink)

- Is this a pedestal sink, a drop in sink, or a molded sink? Make sure you have the shut off valves in the off position (top of valve to the right or clockwise to shut off). If your home is an older home and does not have shut off valves (requiring you to shut off water to the entire house or section of home) then by all means install shut off valves before you attempt to install a new sink. You may not need a new faucet, but for the cost of a new one vs replacing your old one I would recommend a new faucet and drain setup. I prefer the white Silicone (plumbers) tape to the goop. For the drain get plumbers putty even if the directions say you can use the gasket paper or cardboard gasket that comes with the new drain. Dry fit everything before you permanently install it especially the PVC or metal drain parts. It is much easier to install the faucet before you drop in the sink or place the modeled counter top sink in place. There are special considerations for a pedestal sink.
