Q: Bathroom wash basin fitted with the cabinet or not equipped with a good cabinet?
If it is a cabinet company made it or with the cabinet of the good results are also good and the problem is the warranty if it is their own decoration, then that is not necessary
Q: i can't seem to unplug my bathroom sink. I have used a worm and it goes in about 15 feet but i can.t seem to unplug the sink
so the sink is the only yhing pulgged up? 15 ft is more than enough to get past the normal suspect areas. might be time to call a plumber of go to your cleanout plug and try there
Q: Pots and sprinklers with a faucet switch?
Some, just less people use
Q: Our house was built in the 1950's. I am almost 100% sure that the sink in the bathroom is original to the house. It is off white with gold marbled in. Pretty sure it is not porcelin. Feels almost plastic. It is a sink/counter, one piece unit. I don't have the $$ to go buy a new one, but this one is an eye sore. Help!
ok, i dont recomend it, but they sale an epoxy paint kit that works well on tile pocelin etc. there are several problems though. first of all, on an area like a sink that gets heavy use, i have very little confidence that the stuff will hold up. i do feel it works like on wall tile or whatever. but a tub or a sink...i dunno. i have used it before on old bathrooms on the tile and been very happy with results. the other problem is, it takes two to three days to do it right. you have to sand the area, apply a pre thing-a-ma-jig, let that set up, sand, paint, let that set up, sand, and re apply. if you want to give it a try, they sell epoxy paint for tile at any good hardware store. give it a try and let me know! i think the kit is about 20 bux or so. GL with it. i have had great results with this stuff on wall tile and it may be a good temp fix for you too. they sale it saying you can do tubs and sinks...but i have doubts due to usage, but check it out. epoxy paint refinishing kit.
Q: My husband was installing our new bathroom vanity after recent flood damage and the cabinet was just a bit too wide to slide into the spot. So he decided instead of sanding the drywall down he just cut it out. Now I have a 2 inch large hole in the drywall all around the sink and the sink protrudes a bit into the drywall. Not a huge problem except that we have to put a back splash back up around the sink to replace the existing we took out and I have nothing to adhere it to. I was told to get the mesh drywall patch and joint compound and just patch it but the sink still protrudes and I have nothing to really secure the patch to. I cant pull the cabinet out either because he already hooked up the water lines/plumbing. Help!
fill the voids with crumpled news paper, Spackle over it, in layers,
Q: There doesnt seem to be any brackets. We attached the cabinet to the wall and attached the drain and water supply but the sink itself isnt secured to anything and doesnt seem safe.
Most sinks have a backsplash going up the wall a few inches. You can use industrial adhesive to attach it to the wall (like Liquid Nails), then use more of the adhesive to attach the sink to the top of the cabinet.
Q: I am just wondering if it will clog anything.. I don't really care that the necklace is lost because it wasn't very expensive but I just don't want the necklace to mess up anything. I REALLY don't want to open all the pipes and stuff either, messy job. Notice that this is the whole necklace, it was just a silver chain with a cross..So is there any harm in leaving the necklace in the drain?
Actually, considering that most people get ready for the day in front of bathroom mirrors over a sink, no. You will find that after time your drain is not draining as well. This will be due to the hair that falls down the drain and becomes entangled in the necklace and cross. Over time is will become a huge hair ball that clogs the drain. It would be easier and cheaper just to make a mess and remove it now. There are instructions for this easy task all over the Internet.
Q: The bathroom sink has a single spout, so we would only connect the cold water hose. The unit we are moving to does not have laundry taps, hence this question. If need be we can drain the washing machine into buckets. Does anyone know if it is safe to connect the washing machine to bathroom taps?
That should be ok but you will need to see where the drain hose is going to go. On some machines running the drain hose into the bathtub will work ok, The bathtub has enough capacity that it wont overflow . It may take a while to fill and you rinse cycle may be a bit weak. You will need to watch that a friction fit hose doesnt come off the faucet when the machine closes its water valve .
Q: What is the minimum size of the basin?
The general size is 420mm long, 140mm deep, 12mm thick, the smallest size should be 300mm.
Q: how do you fix a hole and crack in a Porcelain bathroom sink?
I wouldnt recommend fixing a porcelain sink as there may be further hidden damages you cant detect. Thats why toilets are always replaced when a crack appears. Considering people usually exert some force on sinks and the constant temperature fluctuations from water, hidden damage may suddenly cause the sink to further crack or face a catastrophic failure (shatters or falls apart causing property or personal damage). Porcelain sinks are pretty affordable these days and would be worthwhile for you to invest in a new one to reduce your risk. Please note if you do change the sink, you will need to replace or transfer the taps to the new model, a new strainer/PO and potentially some minor changes in your drainage.
