Q: why use a large gauge spark plug wires
Because of the High tension electricity that is produced
Q: I recently re-wired my house with 4 wire telephone wire. They all meet in the attic. How do I wire them together and is there some kind of junction plate I can use? Additionally, I did also wire my house with Cat6 wire, but would like to keep it strictly for Internet.
(links just for reference, from search engine results)
Q: Or can stranded wire of the same gauge be subsitituted for solid wire without any consequences? The reason I ask is because its for a massive 4kJ capacitor discharge circuit, and I need all the energy delivered to the power coils im using, cant afford to have much leakage inductance.
You question about Inductance seems illogical. I can't imagine how a straight wire will affect a sudden discharge of current unless the wire is coiled (inductor) or have a shield attached to ground(capacitor). I believe the difference between the two wires are their direct current resistance which is very negligible if the wires are just a few feet long. The Capacitor that will discharge current directly to a coil is a 'tank circuit' and is a type of oscillator. Most likely, The inductance you will experience is caused by the power coil itself that feeds it back to the capacitor and vise versa. If that is true, I recommend a reverse shunt diode across the coil and a series diode between the capacitor and the coil.
Q: Some states allow the use of aluminum wire in houses in place of copper. If you wanted the resistance of your aluminum wire to be the same as that of copper, would the aluminum wire have to have a greater diameter than, smaller diameter than, of the same diameter as the copper wire? Calculate the thickness ratio of aluminum to that of copper.
Are you using 12 volt batteries to do this..?
Q: I have two black wires running to a light switch that I need to extend about a foot. I cannot identify the hot wire because both wires are black and I have no white wire. Can I cap off both wires and then test each with a voltmeter? If the circuit is not complete, will the hot wire still be live?
yes you can cap both and yes the hot wire is still hot. take volt/muilt meter set to a/c 200volts touch red lead to one black wire black lead to other . if it +115-125 red lead is on hot wire if it reads -115-125 the black is on the hot wire
Q: circuit breakers,equipment,wire,or people
A fuse protects wire from an overload of ampacity, this can prevent fires and it prevents shorts in the system as well. So if you have a short it protects the equipment as well as wire but it can protect people from fires if there is short and a fire. so in essence of your question it protects all of the above in way or another. Some breakers in some cases are protected by a fuse such as in motor or motor controls as well. There are several different type of fuses in the feid today form ow voltage to high voltage fuses and different types too.
Q: i need to know what wire goes where
Red Yellow Blue Wires
Q: I need the designations for the wires so I can splice in an amp.
Speaker wires: left front: (+) tan (-) gray right front: (+) lt. green (-) dk. green left rear: (+) brown (-) yellow right rear: (+) dk. blue (-) lt. blue Accessory power at radio for amp turn-on: yellow (only in 2003 and older; should be located next to orange constant power wire)
Q: Need ro know where to put the wires correctly
Most dryer outlets I have seen are labeled X Y G N Wire it this was and you will be good to go. X-This is for one of the hots, you can either put the red or black Y-Same as X G-This is the ground, usually bare copper. Make sure it is connected to the metal box where the outlet goes. N-Neutral, lets you have 120V for the motor, timer, and controls. This wire will be white. Just make sure the power is off before you start. Do the wires have to completely wrap around the screws.. If your talking about the outlet(the part with the 4 holes and you plug your dryer cable into) there are no screws to wrap around. You putg them in the slot and tighten the heck out of the screws. If it is something else get it as far around the screw as you can and make sure it goes on clockwise so the wire tightnes as you tightne the screw
Q: i have a 2002 hyundai sonata and i need to find a wiring diagram but i cant find it at all, please help
a haynes repair manual for your car at an auto parts store it should have what you need look to see before you buy it
