Q: My father changed out a 3 prong plug to a 4 prong plug and crossed the wires by mistake. So the red wire on the plug was connected to the black wire to the dryer and visa-verse. What would happen to the dryer if it is turned on with these wires crossed? Consequently, my dryer's motor is not responding, however the heating element is working. Was there a short? Did the motor get fired?: My first question is did he run a new line ? With the old three prong, there was only three wires. There shall be four wires to use a four prong. So, if he didn't and plugged in the dryer in, any warranty is null and void. As far as the black and red being crossed, no it does not matter with these two wires.

You could get you some wire cutters and wire strippers and a soldering iron and some electrical tape or shrink wrap and go at it, but it would probably be just as well to get another cord.

Q: thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination: You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.

Q: How can I investigate the resistance of wire and how it changes with the length of the wireCheers: If you don't have a multimeter, you can probably see the effect of resistance with a flashlight bulb and a small battery (AA or AAA, etc). Get a spool of wire, needs to be coated/insulated wire. Connect the bulb to the battery with the shortest wire possible. See how bright the bulb is. Then, connect again using the entire spool of wire (hopefully you can get at both ends of the wire while it is still on the spool). The bulb will be dimmer because the voltage at the bulb will be reduced by the resistance of the wire (resistivity per unit length X the length of wire). If the length of wire on the spool is too long, the bulb will not light up at all.

Q: what are the limitations of international wire transfer: Your bank may set a limit on the amount they will allow per wire transfer, but that would be the only limit. My company accepts wire transfers for international business almost daily and there have been a couple of time when I have had to have the purchasing company send a 2nd wire for the balance because the 1st exceeded the banks allowable transfer amount. Of course when that happens you have to be sure that you include the mark up to the customer invoice because you will be charges for each wire transfer by your bank. (some banks don't charge for incoming wires, some do.)

Only if a special connector is involved would there be any reason to replace the wiring with a manufacturer-supplied part.
