Q: my basement flooded and the water came in contact with the wiring on my water pump.Now the pump tries to turn on but shuts off without pumping any water.How do i get my pump pumping water again?: sounds like the bearings locked up...best to replace it

Q: Hi all, I went on vacation and forgot to turn my water heaters to vacation! When I returned the water was cold coming through the faucet. After some investigation I realised the water heater pump had tripped the trip switch on the main electric panel. I reset it and thought all would be fine. Now it is OK for a day or two and then it trips the electric panel again. Any Ideas on what is the matter and how I might fix it? The water heaters themselves are fine and are burning all OK. Many Thanks!: sounds like you have dual gas waterheaters, and the recirculating pump isn't doing what it shoudl be? if somehow, there is a short in the electronics of the pump, it would cause the electrical panel to trip. Still sounds like an electrician would be your first best bet, since it's not strictly a plumbing issue, but also electrical problem. Those pumps are designed to run with about 65 to 150watts power, which would NEVER cause the breaker to trip. If the breaker is weak, or there is an electrical problem that caused the breaker to weaken, an electrician will still be the better bet than even just having the pump replaced or calling in a plumber.

Q: when replacing the Water pump on an Isuzu rodeo while getting a new gasket does it require gasket sealant for this type of vehicle?: it depends mainly on the gaskets you are using whether or not they are paper type gaskets or rubber type gaskets or cork type some cars have only sealant and no gaskets most rubber gaskets don't need sealant some install it anyway for extra protection but to much sealant it could clog your cooling system if they are paper type gaskets a little sealant is added protection some mechanics put sealant on the gasket simply to hold it in place during the install some gaskets require sealant and a specific one at that there are many different types of sealant keep in mind if your gasket manufacture requires sealants to install its would be listed on the box it arrives in for the pre installation guides make sure you get the one they say also all sealant that dry some are wet sealants and never dry, keep in mine that if the sealant requires dry time after install you follow those guide lines otherwise it will leak keep in mind also that the water pump housing bolts have a specific install and tightening and torque down for that type of gaskets like 15 foot pounds on the bolts for cork type gaskets if you crank the bolts down to tight its going to split the gaskets and your back to square one replacing it again

Q: Why does the pump decay when connected in parallel?: Because a water pump has reached the rated parameters, the parallel is only "superfluous".

Q: it just go? I was told that my water pump had leaked at least for awhile before it went and if it had been in the garage someone competent should have noticed it. Then other people have told me No it just goes.whats accurate?: Check the water-pump weep hole under the input shaft casting. You have to look underneath the pump while the car is on jack-stands or plastic ramps. The weep-hole will show the color of the coolant if it's leaking. It will leak at a higher rate with the engine is running when the cooling system is under pressure than when the car is sitting and the engine is cold. Any trusted private mechanic or new car dealer can see a water-pump leak if you can't lift the car safely to crawl underneath.

Q: I currently have a gould 1/3 horse jet water pump and a rusted pressure tank that I would like to replace. There are two bathrooms, both with showers, 2 bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink, as well as the washer. What horse power should I have for 5 faucets and what size pressure tank would be sufficient? The shower in the upstairs bathroom hardly has pressure at all with the current pump and pressure tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.: your right on what it could, once i also have seen a vacuum hose and other hoses like evap hooked into coolant system boy some dude fried his face when he was stupid enough to pull the cap without backing on the evap one it exploded as he was working on it. You can rent a block tester from autozone the dye will turn green or yellow if the head is warped or the gasket is bad. Don't suck up coolant with it while the cap is off just the gasses it uses to determine. A bad water pump causes overheating overall usally or starts leaking, a bad thermostat getting stucked closed will cause overheating. Oh I have even seen cars where someone pulled the thermostat out to cover that up. Anyway, Stucked closed, Which would cause it to overheat as you drive or it is completly warmed up. You can feel both hoses to check it if it is opening and alowing coolant through the radiator.

Q: I have a old house,1920's I think it was built. My water pump kicks on all the time! The tolite upstairs is not that old but the pipes are.The tolite runs for a min. and then stops for 5 mins. When I am running a bath..the second I turn off the water in the tub,the tolite starts to run! Same with the tolite downstairs,that one is only a few years old and the pipes are the same as it is an addition to the house. When I am up late at night in my office I hear the water pump kicking on in the basement ever 10 mins or so! My electric bill is huge! How can I fix this problem? What is causing it? I have not noticed any water leaks anywhere. We turned up the pressure on the pump. That helped a little. Thank god we have our own water well. Anyone have any Idea's?: The problem is your water system is not holding pressure properly. A couple of simple things to check are the *pressure switch. This switch monitors line pressure and turns pump on and off (ex: 20/40=pump on at 20PSI off at 40 PSI). Most older systems have this along with a pressure gauge screwed into top of pump. simply turn on water while someone monitors gauge. If it reads 20 and pump starts then reads 40 and pump shuts off it is not switch. If readings are way off change switch. *if you have a bladder tank, check the pressure in it (you can tell if it has a valve stem on top just like your car tires). There is us usualy a chart on top of the tank giving recomended pressure. Use a tire gauge to check pressure, if low put some air in it. If this does not work go talk to your local hardware or someone in the plumbing trade for better suggestions.
