- Q: I just moved into apartment but not happy with the carpet and I am thinkinag of replacing it before I by furniture! Any eastimat for how long I expect this project should take!?any eastmat for how much it will cost to replace 1000 ft place including removing old carpet!
- An empty place the carpet can be done , ripped out and replaced in a day with a 2 man crew. A one person operation may take 2 days. That you can find out when you schedule the job. With rip out , disposal, new carpet and installation, your looking at 3000$ ( +- of course) . This is based on the 1000 s/f you say. This may not be all carpet.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: I am redoing a room in my basement, and I discovered that the previous owners glued down almost every inch of the carpet. The plan right now is to replace that carpet with new carpet. We tried scrapping and pulling the carpet up...but the process is almost too slow to be worth it. Does anyone have any tips or any suggestions on how to get around this? We are open to doing a different kind of flooring as well.
- Start in a corner by grabbing the carpet with the pliers. Gently pull back slowly, as to not tear through the carpet. Once the old carpeting is completely pulled out; set it aside for later. Use the scraper to remove the remaining dry carpet glue from the floor. Removing the glue is pretty simple, but there is a way to do the job right. There are many industrial solvents made specifically for this purpose. These products can be purchased at you local hardware store. These products are chemicals that contains solvents to dissolve the glue...read the directions on all chemical bottles prior to use.
- Q: I just refinished our hard wood floor and want to put down an area rug. Will the new woven backings hurt the finish?
- If the rug stays put it will not hurt the floor. However, unless the finish you applied has UV protection, the uncovered part of your floor may fade faster.
- Q: We have had some wrinkles develop in our carpeting, so I think I need to have it stretched. What causes that? Time, poor installation, or both? Also, we need our carpets cleaned. Would you have them cleaned and then stretched or vice versa? Thanks!
- Carpets okorder ., to locate a professional certified, and insured carpet cleaner who uses the hot water extraction process. In most cases the furniture and other household furnishings need to be removed from the room to properly stretch the carpet. Coordinate the time for this with the cleaner to come in after the carpet is stretched, perhaps all completed in the same day. This is how we do it, I'm a professional HWE carpet cleaner.
- Q: How do I Eliminate Cat Urine Odors in carpet
- Pull up the carpet and check the subfloor. If the subfloor is stained/smelly, you'll need to seal that up. Then put the carpet back and soak the stain with an enzymatic cleaner (Nature's Miracle or something). Let it soak for a few minutes, then blot up as much liquid as you can with with a clean towel or something. If you have a carpet shampooer, even better. Repeat if needed.
- Q: So, I m moving to an apartment that has totally outdated carpet. I want to change it, but obviously I can t being that it is an apartment I m renting. Are there any other options, other than buying a giant rug? Also, what are carpet tiles? I ve heard that they re cheaper than actual carpet, but do they require installation? Are they permanent? DIY people, help!!
- You will not be happy about how these look if you put them over existing carpet and they are typically NOT cheaper than regular carpet. Your best bet is probably just big area rugs on top of existing carpet to define areas of use like living area, dining area, etc.
- Q: are area rugs and door mats machine washable?
- Machine Washable Area Rugs
- Q: I am trying to find a practical solution to carpeting my basement with pets and kids in the house. I was looking at carpet tile because I can just replace a worn or stained piece. Has anyone here used carpet tile? What brand did you buy and how did it hold up? Can this be easily installed or do I need a pro? Any tips?
- Unless your pets are WELL behaved They will make short work of ripping tiles up and chewing the edges to frazzles. Leaving turned up edges and holes your kids can trip on. If they are unruly, even a one piece carpet is up for grabs. Esp in the corners and at the door, if they want in or out. This applies whether it is Glued down Or stretched in. Good Luck with it! RT
- Q: I'm looking for instructions on how to make a rug with scrap squares of fabric tied into knots and what not. Thanks!
- Hmmm. Not a seamstress, nor do I care to be, but I have one that I enjoy, and has lasted for 3 years, but it was machine made, and as a Rag Rug, was stitched, not knotted. Actually a pretty decent project though, for using scrap fabric, much like a braided oval/round rug. Perhaps you might find in a fabric retailer, a Mesh type, stiff material/substance, similar to that used in small yarn craft kits, but in a larger size? Just my two sense
- Q: what rug would look good with this? Not too expensive please!
