Q: I was thinking of getting my new apartment re-carpeted. I bet I can get the landlord to pay half, but out of curiosity...can anyone give me an estimate of re-carpeting a small studio apartment with some flat (not fluffy) basic carpeting?: should only be a couple hundred dollars,you can always lower the price if you tear out the old carpet first

Q: how do you make a rug?: Depends on what kind of rug you want. You can go to a carpet store to buy a remnant, then purchase an easy finishing edge cording so it doesn't get ratty edges. Or you can do some quilting and attach it to a straw or rubber type mat. Try googling DIY Rugs and look at all the different types you can make and what the materials would cost. There are so many choices!

Q: I have a dog and I still couldn't teach him where to pee and potty. So, I m planning to buy a carpet cleaner. Should I go with the Rug Doctor, which I used to rent and know it cleans perfect but very expensive ($700). or should I buy any other cheaper brand? Actually I don't want to spend that much for a carpet cleaner. Do you think Bissell Proheat 2X 8920 ($194) works fine for pet stains?: rent a rug doctor... nothing works as well other than paying someone to come in and do it.

Q: I'm looking into carpeting a room and was wondering how much the carpet is. I will be installing it myself.: It depends on the type of carpet you buy as to the price. If you install it yourself, that will save you money. Look at Lowe's. They have carpet left over from putting it in houses, and you may find enough to fit your room. It is cheaper.

Q: A new home I'm thinking of buying has been allotted a $16 per square yard carpet allowance by the builders. Is this low, reasonable, or high? Will this be enough to carpet the house with some of the higher end carpet such as stainmaster?Thanks!: On the low side but a normal builders allowance. When shopping for carpet, you ll be buying or comparing that price to an s/f price. This is the way carpet must be sold. The builders price break down to 1.77$ a s/f. You ll be able to get a cheap bedroom carpet for that if you look hard but none with any quality will be found. Get a carpet with a stain protector, you don t necessarily need Staimaster, although a good stain blocker, your paying some for the name. Also shop for a carpet with anti matte, anti crush. This won t matte down and show walk patterns. This differs from an anti wear warranty. Edit to your add on questions.. Q: I was at the yard today and one of the owners was talking about one of these rugs, and I can't put my finger on the name of it. Just wanted to read up a little bit about it.All I know is it begins with a B and lots of people ride with it still on the horse and just put a saddle over it.Any suggestions? :s: Bug Rug? A rug that fits around that saddle and protects that horse from flys when ridden. What kind of rug is it? What's it used for? Waterproof? Warmth? Is it rug shaped (covers that front) or an exercise rug?

Q: what is the best product for removing pet smell from the carpet in home? thanks: Replace the carpet. Nothing will ever get all the odor or urine out. It's soaked through to the pad and possibly the concrete under that. You might think about painting a sealant on the concrete after you take up the ruined carpet and pad. Before putting down new carpet. That odor can seep back up from the concrete (or wood) subfloor for years to come. Every time it rains or is damp outside, you very likely will smell it again. Better yet, put down wood laminate or something instead of more carpet.

Q: Also... what would be cheaper? Carpet, carpet tile, or laminate?I ask because these stupid companies (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) keep making it seem like there's a difference between carpet and carpet tile and it seems like carpet tile is cheaper.Why would it be cheaper? It actually seems like it would cost less than laminate but I have absolutely no idea why or what to look for.I'm looking for new flooring for my living room.: it is easier for a non experienced person to install. I prefer wall to wall over tile.
