- Q:Lifting a car with your arms or lifting it with a car jack? and please explain why
- Power is the measure of how fast you are doing work. If you lift the car with your arms at the same speed as the jack does you are generating the same amount of power. Assuming you CAN lift the car with your arms it takes 3 seconds to lift it the specified height using the jack it takes 30 seconds to lift the same amount you have generated 10 times the power with your arms that you have with the jack. Using the jack allows you to lift the car with a smaller force but more slowly so it is LESS powerful The same amount of work is done in both cases but because the jack is slower it is less powerful in the true meaning of the word. People consistently talk about power when they mean force.
- Q:if you are moving with an average 20Km/hr!!! i know no one drives a car this slow but i need this power for aboom lift!!
- Not all vehicles are created equally, as I had hoped we all knew. So the answer depends on how heavy the car is, how big its engine is--like the number and displacement size of its cylinders--etc. You have to get a number of specific details before this question can be answered with much accuracy. Oh, wait. you're going to move it with a boom lift, right? Well then, in that case, the vehicle's own engine/transmission power won't come into play, but then you still have to know how much mass the vehicle has.
- Q:This is the hood located inside the grill on the front of the car that you pull to lift up hood. It broke off. Now I cannot lift the hood at all. What is this part called? I want to try and buy the part online. Thanks in advance.
- Gotta provide understand, whilst understand is due. lolthose are some high quality automobiles. I provide them understand on the line. They wanna speed by capacity of me and cut back me off, go head' infant, you have the horsepower to try this. lolyou wanna severe beam me to enable me comprehend to get the f*ck outta your way, i visit gladly swap lanes for you. you wanna park illegally, no prob with me. yet once you slam right into a pole or a guardrail going a hundred thirty mphdo no longer come decrease back from the ineffective searching for me cuz i grew to become into type enuf to enable u bypass. And, whilst u get that $185 cost tag interior the mail, howdy u ought to've parked with something human beingsha!
- Q:Ok I have a 2001 Chrysler sebring sedan 6cyl 2.7L, and when I my brake it kind of stutters and makes a knocking sound. On a scale of 1 to 10 1 being barely pushing the brake and 10 being pedal to the floor. it usually happens between 5 and 7. The stuttering feels kind of like one part of a brake disc is thicker than the rest and when the pads hit that part the car slows much more quickly ,btu that part is no big deal. what i‘m really worried about is the knocking i get when i push the brakes between 5 and 7. There is nothing wrong while I‘m driving it only happens when I push the brakes. Thanks
- I had a short tap or knock noise when applying the brakes in drive only. I changed the rotors, the calipers, and the pads at the same time. It started after I did this. I found out by jacking up the front end and listening to the brakes (when applied) and (I spun the tires manually mind you) one at a time, by using common sense, I out a screw driver in the small area between the top of the brake pad and the caliper, and found out there was too much travel from the holes that support the brake support pins. I changed the pads making sure to match up the bad pads to a pair of new ones, (with a small diameter brake support pin hole). That was the issue. The pads from Advance Auto,(ceramic wearever-about $50), were machined incorrectly. Problem, solved.
- Q:My car trunk lift supports barely keep the trunk up. I know they are filled with a gas or fluid. Is it possible they can be filled up to give them more strength? Who can do this? I hope I will not have to buy two new ones.
- No they are not refillable or repairable. The only thing that can be done for them is to replace them, fortunately most of them are inexpensive and readily available. I got the set that I needed at Pep Boys, but I am sure that you can find them at any auto supply house. A word of advise; replace both at the same time. When you have removed one side while replacing them be sure to prop the lid open to prevent it from falling and causing injury or damage.
- Q:Recently I attempted to remove the rust from my Nissan Sentra Classic 1993 vehicle with the following process:x 120 Grit Sanderx RustCheck Rust Converterx Mineral Spiritsx Rubbing Alcohol to clean away remaining dustx Tremclad Primer 1L (Grey - Inhibits rust for Iron Steel)x Duplicolor Auto SprayAfter the above process, i now see scaling on the overall job, as if the paint is being lifted. What did i do wrong?Your recomendation on redoing this job would be appreciated. Thanks
- this is caused by moisture underneath the paint making the bubbles. a prime example is rust from underneath. it may be a failure of the surface coat allowing water penetration and thus the surface paint lifting. a sort of pinhole effect. either way it wont get any better. It needs to be stripped back to bare metal in the bubbled areas and treated/repaired before repainting. Good luck.
- Q:I have a 1997 Ford Explorer and I was told that my valve needed a new lift. I was told that, but was not told what it was. I was told that without the lift for the valve I can still drive the car problem free, but that I should get it taken care of sooner or later. Is there a mechanic in the Yahoo galaxy that can give me some insight? Thanks.
- Does the engine make a clicking, or tapping sound? If so that is a lifter, not a lift. A lifter rides on the cam shaft and has a push rod on it that activates the rocker arm which pushes on the valve. A bad lifter will make noise and ultimately fail. You could damage the engine, at the least it will run poorly. To fix it you have to take apart the top of the engine. Not an easy or cheap fix. If this is not the problem I don't know what you were told. Good luck.
- Q:Is there any way to giva a car (not a truck)a 8-12 inch lift? If so please tell me how and the recomended place I could buy the items required. Thanks in advance.
- why? ok I had to ask that. You can swap your body on to a truck frame. this is the best plan. Other than that Get a welder and some steel and an enginering degree.
