- Q: I'm having this trouble with my 10 month old. She discovered a week ago that she can climb into the sofa. And I can not do anything else but to watch her. The second I turn around....she is up again. Should I remove the sofa from the family room? Where are we gon'na seat then? If that was the solution no house in the country would have a sofa by now..........what to do????
- Good luck on trying to stop her. My daughter has been doing it for ages and in the last month she has learnt to push one of her walk along toys to where she wants it and climb on it to get stuff of the shelf, if her high chair is near a seat she climbs on the seat and then trys to get on top of her high chair. THe other day she climbed on the table where the TV was and climbed on top of the TV. She knows that she is aloud to climb on the couch but anything else she gets told off and sat on the floor and keep doing until she learns. But she should grow out of that stage soon.
- Q: I bought an ikea Ektorp sofa two years ago.In the first year itself, I noticed feather leaking out of the sofas, it seems Ikea uses feathers in their cushions.Anyway when I was about to wash, I removed the slipcovers and there was just so much feathers that have leaked out. Also after washing the color of the slipcovers faded.I should have returned the sofa in the first year as they have a three year guarantee but I was busy and all. I can still return since my 3 years is not up so I would like to ask has anyone returned ikea sofas due to the quality. Did Ikea take it back after you complained, any problems returning the sofa? Has anyone complained but Ikea decided not to take the sofa back?Any advice what I should do about the sofa? It is such a waste, the sofa is still comfortable just a hassle when cleaning as there are a lot of feathers leaking out, eventually I think this will cause the cushions to sag/sink. Also the color has faded in just 2 short years.I guess I expected better quality from ikea.
- The Ektorp sofa has an awful reputation. I almost bought one last year but I did some research first and I'm glad I did! All the problems you've experienced are the similar to the stories I read. Apparently, the covers are well known for fading. I would try to take it back and get a refund or at least a replacement sofa. Good luck.

- Most people try to keep their cats off the sofa! And her prior family may have been like that. Do you have a cat bed or lounger for her that you can put near the sofa? See if she'll use that and maybe try to tempt her with treats onto the sofa.

- Sadly there is no cure for you leather sofa, unless you are willing to spend loads of money on repairs. You'r better off just getting a new one. As of keeping the kitten off the sofa in the future, try clipping the kittens nails and buy a scratching post. Than everytime the kitten tries to sharpen it's nails on the couch, move it to the scratching post to scratch on. A permanent way of preventing this is getting the kitten permantly declawed. This is only recomended if the cat is an indoors cat, dont get it declawed if it goes outdoors. It needs it's claws to survive outside.

- You can use it, but it's going to feel a bit weird because the fold out bed part is what adds support/stability to the piece when it's being used as a sofa. All I can say is try it to see if it will be comfortable for you. If you find the manufacturer's tag on it, you can always contact the maker to find out if replacement mattress bed mechanism is available for the model that you have. If so, and you decide to order, just know that you'll have to have it installed by someone who works with upholstered furniture.

- good god, don't use armor all! that stuff attracts dirt! is the leather a smooth finish or buck? if it is smooth you can use any foaming cleaner made for leather cleaning. if it's a really smooth finish you can simply use a light sudsy water and dry it off right away.
- Q: I had to choose a neutral colour for walls in the livingroom (well the only room since it's a small apartment) and I didn't want white or light grey so I chose beige. - Try a soft buttery yellow (unless your room has north-facing windows, in which case, avoid yellows), or a light green (think plant green, not sea green). Apricot or peach are also options. If you use a blue wall colour, your room could become overwhelmingly blue - and while white has its place, from what you've described, I suspect that white will give your room a slightly industrial quality - not really what you're looking for! To coordinate your living and dining room, think texture instead of colour - use the same colour in both spaces with different textures (don't be intimidated, there are plenty of easy paint finishes out there that look great. . .your local paint shop can provide you with instructions). Alternatively, find a colour you like in your living room and use a related shade in your dining room (as a rule of thumb, go lighter in your living space and darker in your dining room). Finally, before you commit to a colour, get a sample can from your paint store, go home and paint a spot on the wall (about eighteen inches square) in a nice, visible spot. Live with the spot for a few days and see how it looks (remember to prime under and around it, if you currently have a dark or very different colour). If you don't love it now, you never will (and you'll have to pick a new colour) but at least you won't have to repaint the whole room! And don't panic if you don't get the first one right - even the pros make mistakes (and they spend years learning to visualise colour).
