- Oreck - 4 years. Does a very good job on cat hair (long-haired cat) and seems to filter everything. The hand-held that comes with it is not hepa but you can get hepa filters for it.

- The quietest one I know is a Ghibli. I have one. If you're standing beside it, you can talk to someone in a normal voice. Mine doesn't have a beater bar which is the noisiest part of a vacuum cleaner but has lots of suction and does a very good job on carpets without it. Go to a vacuum specialty store and see what they have. I understand that Miele is very quiet too. When you're checking out vacuum cleaners, note that most of them give a decibel rating in the specs

- Don't waste your time on it. With both the small size and design of that BI fan you are not going to get a vacuum of more than a couple inches of water. It is designed more for volume than for suction. In comparison, none of the hand- held so called vacuum cleaners are much better and they usually have better impellers.

- He/she is trying to utilize two vacuum cleaners to increase the power of the suction. In theory two vacuums in parallel would increase the VOLUME of air and dirt sucked. Placing them in series would increase the pressure sucked but would likely reduce the volume.

- I have a little hand held dirt devil dust buster. It is the greatest thing! There are no cords, so you can take it anywhere. It is so great for vacuuming the car!! As for one around the house, you are going to have to look for one based on your specific needs. There are ones for pet owners, deep steam cleaners, etc. And if you really don't want to do it yourself, there are the roomba's that do it all for you!!! Walmart has a ton of vacuums.
